Dynamic searchable symmetric encryption (DSSE) enables users to delegate the keyword search over dynamically updated encrypted databases to an honest-but-curious server without losing keyword privacy. This paper studies a new and practical security risk to DSSE, namely, secret key compromise (e.g., a user’s secret key is leaked or stolen), which threatens all the security guarantees offered by existing DSSE schemes. To address this open problem, we introduce the notion of searchable encryption with key-update (SEKU) that provides users with the option of non-interactive key updates. We further define the notion of post-compromise secure with respect to leakage functions to study whether DSSE schemes can still provide data security after the client’s secret key is compromised. We demonstrate that post-compromise security is achievable with a proposed protocol called "Bamboo". Interestingly, the leakage functions of Bamboo satisfy the requirements for both forward and backward security. We conduct a performance evaluation of Bamboo using a real-world dataset and compare its runtime efficiency with the existing forward-and-backward secure DSSE schemes. MTD: Multi-Timestep Detector for Delayed Streaming Perception

Autonomous driving systems require real-time environmental perception to ensure user safety and experience. Streaming perception is a task of reporting the current state of the world, which is used to evaluate the delay and accuracy of autonomous driving systems. In real-world applications, factors such as hardware limitations and high temperatures inevitably cause delays in autonomous driving systems, resulting in the offset between the model output and the world state. In order to solve this problem, this paper propose the Multi-Timestep Detector (MTD), an end-to-end detector which uses dynamic routing for multi-branch future prediction, giving model the ability to resist delay fluctuations. A Delay Analysis Module (DAM) is proposed to optimize the existing delay sensing method, continuously monitoring the model inference stack and calculating the delay trend. Moreover, a novel Timestep Branch Module (TBM) is constructed, which includes static flow and adaptive flow to adaptively predict specific timesteps according to the delay trend. The proposed method has been evaluated on the Argoverse-HD dataset, and the experimental results show that it has achieved state-of-the-art performance across various delay settings. The pre-training language model BERT has brought significant performance improvements to a series of natural language processing tasks, but due to the large scale of the model, it is difficult to be applied in many practical application scenarios. With the continuous development of edge computing, deploying the models on resource-constrained edge devices has become a trend. Considering the distributed edge environment, how to take into account issues such as data distribution differences, labeling costs, and privacy while the model is shrinking is a critical task. The paper proposes a new BERT distillation method with source-free unsupervised domain adaptation. By combining source-free unsupervised domain adaptation and knowledge distillation for optimization and improvement, the performance of the BERT model is improved in the case of cross-domain data. Compared with other methods, our method can improve the average prediction accuracy by up to around 4% through the experimental evaluation of the cross-domain sentiment analysis task.

In this paper, for the first time, deep learning (DL) based artificial neural network (ANN) is applied to model the effects of various random variations: work function fluctuation, random dopant fluctuation, and interface trap fluctuation, on gate-all-around silicon nanosheet MOSFETs. The number of fluctuations for each source variation is used as input features and their effects on devices of interest are studied qualitatively and quantitatively. The key figures of merit (FoM) are also extracted accurately from the transfer characteristics, which shows the competency of the ANN model in the domain of device modeling. © 2022 IEEE.

The performance of an ad-hoc network is greatly limited by collisions due to hidden terminals. In this paper, we propose a receiver tracking contention (RTC) scheme, which achieves high throughput by allowing the receivers to assist for channel contention. In RTC, link is the basic unit for channel access contention. Specifically, transmitter is used to contend for the channel and receiver is used to announce the potential collision. Based on INT message coding scheme, transmitter and its corresponding receiver can be well coordinated. In such mechanism, hidden terminals are avoided and exposed terminals are encouraged to transmit simultaneously. Based on OFDM modulation, RTC packets several subcarriers as subcontention unit and operates channel contention over multiple subcontention units. Furthermore, each subcontention unit maintains a transmission set, where collision-free links are allowed to merged into the transmission set In this case, the transmission set of subcontention unit can be aggregated after each contention period. When the subcontention unit i is the smallest index of non-empty subcontention unit, the transmission set of unit i will win the channel contention and transmitters of unit i will start to transmit in the following data transmission period. Analysis and simulation results show that RTC achieves a notable throughput gain over Back2f as high as 190% through simulation.

The processor's Performance Monitor Unit (PMU) allows the recording of architectural and microarchitectural events for profiling purposes. In this study, we reveal a security issue caused by the fact that current PMU implementations are capable of recording some events that happened during transient executions. We propose the PMU -Spill attack, a new kind of attack that enables attackers to maliciously leak the secret data in transient executions. We demonstrate on real hardware that PMU -Spill attack can leak the secret data stored in Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX). In addition, we perform a thorough study to reveal all the vulnerable PMU counters and find that 20 of them can be used to achieve PMU -Spill attack. Our experiments suggest that the throughput of PMU -Spill attack is up to 575.3 bytes per second (Bps) with an average error rate of 1.89% when leaking the SGX-protected secret data.

QoSHVCP: Hybrid Vehicular Communications Protocol with QoS prioritization for safety applications

This paper introduces a hybrid communication paradigm for achieving seamless connectivity in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs), wherein the connectivity is often affected by changes in the dynamic topology, vehicles' speed, as well as the traffic density. Our proposed technique named QoS-oriented Hybrid Vehicular Communications Protocol (QoSHVCP) exploits both existing network infrastructure through a Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), as well as a traditional Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) connection that could satisfy Quality-of-Service requirements. QoSHVCP is based on a V2V-V2I protocol switching algorithm, executed in a distributed fashion by each vehicle and is based on the cost function for alternative paths each time it needs to transmit a message. We utilize time delay as a performance metric and present the delay propagation rates when vehicles are transmitting high priority messages via QoSHVCP. Simulation results indicate that simultaneous usage of preexisting network infrastructure along with intervehicular communication provide lower delays, while maintaining the level of user's performance. Quantum correlated, highly non-degenerate photons can be used to synthesize disparate quantum nodes and link quantum processing over incompatible wavelengths, thereby constructing heterogeneous quantum systems for otherwise unattainable superior performance. Existing techniques for correlated photons have been concentrated in the visible and near-IR domains, with the photon pairs residing within one micron. Here, we demonstrate direct generation and detection of high-purity photon pairs at room temperature with 3.2 um wavelength spacing, one at 780 nm to match the rubidium D2 line, and the other at 3950 nm that falls in a transparent, low-scattering optical window for free space applications. The pairs are created via spontaneous parametric downconversion in a lithium niobate waveguide with specially designed geometry and periodic poling. The 780 nm photons are measured with a silicon avalanche photodiode, and the 3950 nm photons are measured with an upconversion photon detector using a similar waveguide, which attains 34% internal conversion efficiency. Quantum correlation measurement yields a high coincidence-to-accidental ratio of 54, which indicates the strong correlation with the extremely non-degenerate photon pairs. Our system bridges existing quantum technology to the challenging mid-IR regime, where unprecedented applications are expected in quantum metrology and sensing, quantum communications, medical diagnostics, and so on. Zero-touch network is anticipated to inaugurate the generation of intelligent and highly flexible resource provisioning strategies where multiple service providers collaboratively offer computation and storage resources. This transformation presents substantial challenges to network administration and service providers regarding sustainability and scalability. This article combines distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) with Zero-touch Provisioning (ZTP) for edge networks. This combination helps to manage network devices seamlessly and intelligently by minimizing human intervention. In addition, several advantages are also highlighted that come with incorporating distributed AI into ZTP in the context of edge networks. In this work, our study comprises of design and investigation on negative capacitance (NC), metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) field effects transistors (MOSFETs) with spacer and source/drain (S/D) overlap engineering. The scope of the work is to boost the performance and high-energy efficiency of the studied NC-MOSFETs by using the ferro electric material (FE). The NC-MOSFETs with the spacer technology can achieve the admirable I on /I off ratio and subthreshold swing (SS), compared with planar MOSFETs. It makes device scaling possible by eliminating the short channel effect (SCE). We further estimated the effect of FE thickness and spacer, which are another critical parameter of obtaining better electrical characteristics and reducing SS.
