Intelligent networking in adversarial environment:challenges and opportunities

Although deep learning technologies have been widely exploited in many fields, they are vulnerable to adversarial attacks by adding small perturbations to legitimate inputs to fool targeted ***, few studies have focused on intelligent networking in such an adversarial environment, which can pose serious security threats. In fact, while challenging intelligent networking, adversarial environments also bring about opportunities. In this paper, we, for the first time, simultaneously analyze the challenges and opportunities that the adversarial environment brings to intelligent networking. Specifically, we focus on challenges that the adversarial environment will pose on the existing intelligent networking. Furthermore, we investigate frameworks and approaches that combine adversarial machine learning with intelligent networking to solve the existing deficiencies of intelligent networking. Finally, we summarize the issues, including opportunities and challenges, which can allow researchers to focus on intelligent networking in adversarial environments.

Mutual Retinex: Combining Transformer and CNN for Image Enhancement

Images captured in low-light or underwater environments are often accompanied by significant degradation, which can negatively impact the quality and performance of downstream tasks. While convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and Transformer architectures have made significant progress in computer vision tasks, there are few efforts to harmonize them into a more concise framework for enhancing such images. To this end, this study proposes to aggregate the individual capability of self-attention (SA) and CNNs for accurate perturbation removal while preserving background contents. Based on this, we carry forward a Retinex-based framework, dubbed as Mutual Retinex, where a two-branch structure is designed to characterize the specific knowledge of reflectance and illumination components while removing the perturbation. To maximize its potential, Mutual Retinex is equipped with a new mutual learning mechanism, involving an elaborately designed mutual representation module (MRM). In MRM, the complementary information between reflectance and illumination components are encoded and used to refine each other. Through the complementary learning via the mutual representation, the enhanced results generated by our model exhibit superior color consistency and naturalness. Extensive experiments have shown the significant superiority of our mutual learning based method over thirteen competitors on the low-light task and ten methods on the underwater image enhancement task. In particular, our proposed Mutual Retinex respectively surpasses the state-of-the-art method MIRNet-v2 by 0.90 dB and 2.46 dB in PSNR on the LOL 1000 and FIVEK datasets, while with only 19.8% model parameters. © 2017 IEEE.

Nowadays, machine learning (ML) has attained a high level of achievement in many contexts. Considering the significance of ML in medical and bioinformatics owing to its accuracy, many investigators discussed multiple solutions for developing the function of medical and bioinformatics challenges using deep learning (DL) techniques. The importance of DL in Internet of Things (IoT)-based bio- and medical informatics lies in its ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of complex and diverse data in real time, providing insights that can improve healthcare outcomes and increase efficiency in the healthcare industry. Several applications of DL in IoT-based bio- and medical informatics include diagnosis, treatment recommendation, clinical decision support, image analysis, wearable monitoring, and drug discovery. The review aims to comprehensively evaluate and synthesize the existing body of the literature on applying deep learning in the intersection of the IoT with bio- and medical informatics. In this paper, we categorized the most cutting-edge DL solutions for medical and bioinformatics issues into five categories based on the DL technique utilized: convolutional neural network, recurrent neural network, generative adversarial network, multilayer perception, and hybrid methods. A systematic literature review was applied to study each one in terms of effective properties, like the main idea, benefits, drawbacks, methods, simulation environment, and datasets. After that, cutting-edge research on DL approaches and applications for bioinformatics concerns was emphasized. In addition, several challenges that contributed to DL implementation for medical and bioinformatics have been addressed, which are predicted to motivate more studies to develop medical and bioinformatics research progressively. Geometric Deep Learning has recently attracted significant interest in a wide range of machine learning fields, including document analysis. The application of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) has become crucial in various document-related tasks since they can unravel important structural patterns, fundamental in key information extraction processes. Previous works in the literature propose task-driven models and do not take into account the full power of graphs. We propose Doc2Graph, a task-agnostic document understanding framework based on a GNN model, to solve different tasks given different types of documents. We evaluated our approach on two challenging datasets for key information extraction in form understanding, invoice layout analysis and table detection. Here the problem of nonlinear control system stabilization is considered. By presenting the model of a nonlinear control system with a parameter that changes over a certain interval in a formally linear form with state dependent matrices and by introducing a quadratic quality criterion the SDRE approach is applied. Then a neural network model is built to determine a suboptimal controller based on the use of asymptotic and Padé approximations of the matrix Riccati equation solution. It is based on the procedure for selecting the best approximation option and methods for the improvement of the obtained solution (for example, splines) and takes into account the specifics of problem classes. © 2024 IEEE.

Enhancing the Zebra Optimization Algorithm with Chaotic Sinusoidal Map for Versatile Optimization

In this study, the Chaotic Sinusoidal Map (CSM)-enhanced Zebra Optimization Algorithm (CZOA) is introduced. CZOA combines CSM's integration strengths with ZOA's optimization skills. ZOA already exhibits great optimization capabilities, but the addition of CSM increases its potential even more. This addition greatly strengthens ZOA's exploration and exploitation skills and increases its flexibility for various optimization tasks. CZOA outperforms both the original ZOA and contemporary optimisation methods on 23 benchmark functions, including high-dimensional (FD), multimodal (MM), and unimodal (UM) challenges. Using the chaos of CSM to investigate regional optimal and determine better convergence and exploration-exploitation equilibrium are shown by CZOA, which also shows more profitable solution locations. CZOA demonstrates its resilience and versatility through multiple benchmark activities, underscoring its potential as an adaptable optimisation tool. CZOA becomes a potent metaheuristic by combining biological inspiration and chaotic dynamics to solve difficult optimisation problems. Inspired by the natural behaviour of zebras, the Zebra Optimisation Algorithm (ZOA) is a relatively new optimisation technique. It makes use of a herd behaviour mechanism and the ideas of leadership and following, in which members of the population—zebras in this case—cooperate to solve optimisation issues in the best possible ways. Single-source domain generalization (SDG) aims to learn a model from a single source domain that can generalize well on unseen target domains. This is an important task in computer vision, particularly relevant to medical imaging where domain shifts are common. In this work, we consider a challenging yet practical setting: SDG for cross-modality medical image segmentation. We combine causality-inspired theoretical insights on learning domain-invariant representations with recent advancements in diffusion-based augmentation to improve generalization across diverse imaging modalities. Guided by the 'intervention-augmentation equivariant' principle, we use controlled diffusion models (DMs) to simulate diverse imaging styles while preserving the content, leveraging rich generative priors in large-scale pretrained DMs to comprehensively perturb the multidimensional style variable. Extensive experiments on challenging cross-modality segmentation tasks demonstrate that our approach consistently outperforms state-of-the-art SDG methods across three distinct anatomies and imaging modalities. It is possible to tell a lot about a person just by looking at their handwriting. The way someone writes might tell you a lot about who, they are as a person. There has been a lot of study on the possibility of deducing aspects of a person’s character from their handwriting. In this piece, we’ll look at the different personality qualities and how they might be utilized to make an evaluation. The report includes a dataset showing a correlation between several traits of personality. The Big Five Personality Traits are mapped using handwritten personality data. It was suggested that a comparison table should be used to spot distinctive character quirks. The article includes a review of previous studies and an assessment of the current status of the topic.
