The demands on conventional communication networks are increasing rapidly because of the exponential expansion of connected multimedia *** light of the data-centric aspect of contemporary communication,the information-centric network(ICN)paradigm offers hope for a solution by emphasizing content retrieval by name instead of *** 5G networks are to meet the expected data demand surge from expanded connectivity and Internet of Things(IoT)devices,then effective caching solutions will be required tomaximize network throughput andminimize the use of ***,an ICN-based Cooperative Caching(ICN-CoC)technique has been used to select a cache by considering cache position,content attractiveness,and rate *** findings show that utilizing our suggested approach improves caching regarding the Cache Hit Ratio(CHR)of 84.3%,Average Hop Minimization Ratio(AHMR)of 89.5%,and Mean Access Latency(MAL)of 0.4 *** a framework,it suggests improved caching strategies to handle the difficulty of effectively controlling data consumption in 5G *** improvements aim to make the network run more smoothly by enhancing content delivery,decreasing latency,and relieving *** improving 5G communication systems’capacity tomanage the demands faced by modern data-centric applications,the research ultimately aids in advancement.

Giant phonon-skyrmion coupling in ferromagnet/heavy metal heterostructures

The strong impact of the strain-induced Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (SIDMI) on the magnetization dynamics of skyrmions in nanomagnetic structures is demonstrated. The effects of SIDMI are characterized by skyrmion equations (SEs) of motion and magnetoelastic (ME) equations. The study is performed on a model system of MgO/CoFe/Pt stacked on a piezoelectric substrate. The results demonstrate a major nonlinear amplification in both the first- and higher-harmonic magnitudes of the skyrmion breathing mode due to SIDMI. Remarkably, this enhancement can trigger a skyrmion collapse, enabling its deletion with ultraweak strain-induced excitations. The SIDMI effect is shown to be much more significant than the conventional ME effect. These findings open different avenues for the efficient manipulation of nanomagnetic structures through strain.

Ensemble multifeatured deep learning methodology has emerged as a powerful approach to overcome the limitations of single deep learning models in terms of generalization, robustness, and performance. This survey provides an extended review of ensemble multifeatured deep learning models, and their applications, challenges, and future directions. We explore potential applications of these models across various domains, including computer vision, medical imaging, natural language processing, and speech recognition. By combining the strengths of multiple models and features, ensemble multifeatured deep learning models have demonstrated improved performance and adaptability in diverse problem settings. We also discuss the challenges associated with these models, such as model interpretability, computational complexity, ensemble model selection, adversarial robustness, and personalized and federated learning. This survey highlights recent advancements in addressing these challenges and emphasizes the importance of continued research in tackling these issues to enable widespread adoption of ensemble multifeatured deep learning models. It provides an outlook on future research directions, focusing on the development of new algorithms, frameworks, and hardware architectures that can efficiently handle the large-scale computations required by these models. Moreover, it underlines the need for a better understanding of the trade-offs between model complexity, accuracy, and computational resources to optimize the design and deployment of ensemble multifeatured deep learning models. © 2013 IEEE.

Improving the Interpretability Through Maximizing Mutual Information for EEG Emotion Recognition

Trustworthy Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) for EEG emotion recognition should identify emotions accurately and elucidate corresponding rationales. Current GNNs have achieved notable performance by dynamically modeling emotional connections between EEG channels. However, these GNNs lack interpretability due to the absence of explicit rationale behind their predictions. This paper conducts a comprehensive identification of important EEG channels to enhance the interpretability of EEG emotion recognition from the perspective of mutual information. Specifically, an Adjacency-Explainable Graph Neural Network (AEG) for ante-hoc interpretability is proposed to capture genuine EEG emotional connections, which gives a theoretical guarantee to remove spurious connections. Moreover, a Channel-wise Adaptive Class Activation Mapping Explainer (CACA) for post-hoc interpretability is developed to locate the EEG channels that contribute most to predictions. Experimental results on three datasets, i.e., SEED, SEED-IV, and DREAMER, prove that imbuing training processes with enhanced interpretability ensures significant performance improvements in emotion recognition. Quantitative comparisons of post-hoc interpretability also demonstrate the superiority of CACA. Furthermore, this paper illustrates two potential applications of the proposed methodologies, showing their broader utility and significance. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Semantic-Aware Pseudo-Labeling for Unsupervised Meta-Learning

In unsupervised meta-learning, the clustering-based pseudo-labeling approach is an attractive framework, since it is model-agnostic, allowing it to synergize with supervised algorithms to learn from unlabeled data. However, the pseudo-labels suffer from clustering noise and semantic chaos problems, further impacting the effectiveness of meta-learning. In this paper, we analyze and optimize the pseudo-labeling process, including encoding and clustering, aiming to generate semantic-like pseudo-labels to narrow the gap between unsupervised and supervised meta-learning. First, during the encoding, we observe that the embedding space of existing methods lacks clustering-friendly properties, which is the primary reason for clustering noise. To address this issue, we minimize the inter-to-intra-class similarity ratio to generate clustering-friendly embedding features and validate our approach through comprehensive experiments. Then, during the clustering, we find that the semantic quality of pseudo-labels is not adequately controlled, resulting in semantic chaos of pseudo-labels. We propose a semantic-stability index to measure the semantic quality of pseudo-labels quantitatively. Based on this index, we propose the Semantic-aware Pseudo-label Reassignment mechanism to generate semantic-like pseudo-labels for all samples. Our approach is model-agnostic and can easily be integrated into existing supervised methods. To demonstrate its generalization ability, we integrate it into two representative algorithms: MAML and EP. The results on three main few-shot benchmarks clearly show that the proposed method achieves significant improvement compared to state-of-the-art models. Notably, our approach also outperforms the corresponding supervised method in three tasks. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

Increasingly popular decentralized applications (dApps) with complex application logic incur significant overhead for executing smart contract transactions, which greatly limits public block chain performance. Pre-executing transactions off the critical path can mitigate substantial I/O and computation costs during execution. However, pre-execution does not yield any state transitions, rendering the system state inconsistent with actual execution. This inconsistency can lead to deviations in pre-execution paths when processing smart contracts with multiple state-related branches, thus diminishing pre-execution effectiveness. In this paper, we develop Seer, a novel public block chain execution engine that incorporates fine-grained branch prediction to fully exploit pre-execution effectiveness. Seerpredicts state-related branches using a two-level prediction approach, reducing inconsistent execution paths more efficiently than executing all possible branches. To enable effective reuse of pre execution results, Seer employs checkpoint-based fast-path execution, enhancing transaction execution for both successful and unsuccessful predictions. Evaluations with realistic block chain workloads demonstrate that Seer delivers an average of 27.7× transaction-level speedup and an overall 20.6× speedup in the execution phase over vanilla Ethereum, outperforming existing block chain execution acceleration solutions. © 2025, VLDB Endowment, All rights reserved.

We present a lightweight and efficient semisupervised video object segmentation network based on the space-time memory *** some extent,our method solves the two difficulties encountered in traditional video object segmentation:one is that the single frame calculation time is too long,and the other is that the current frame’s segmentation should use more information from past *** algorithm uses a global context(GC)module to achieve highperformance,real-time *** GC module can effectively integrate multi-frame image information without increased memory and can process each frame in real ***,the prediction mask of the previous frame is helpful for the segmentation of the current frame,so we input it into a spatial constraint module(SCM),which constrains the areas of segments in the current *** SCM effectively alleviates mismatching of similar targets yet consumes few additional *** added a refinement module to the decoder to improve boundary *** model achieves state-of-the-art results on various datasets,scoring 80.1%on YouTube-VOS 2018 and a J&F score of 78.0%on DAVIS 2017,while taking 0.05 s per frame on the DAVIS 2016 validation dataset.

Exploiting autoencoder’s weakness to generate pseudo anomalies

Due to the rare occurrence of anomalous events, a typical approach to anomaly detection is to train an autoencoder (AE) with normal data only so that it learns the patterns or representations of the normal training data. At test time, the trained AE is expected to well reconstruct normal but to poorly reconstruct anomalous data. However, contrary to the expectation, anomalous data are often well reconstructed as well. In order to further separate the reconstruction quality between normal and anomalous data, we propose creating pseudo anomalies from learned adaptive noise by exploiting the aforementioned weakness of AE, i.e., reconstructing anomalies too well. The generated noise is added to the normal data to create pseudo anomalies. Extensive experiments on Ped2, Avenue, ShanghaiTech, CIFAR-10, and KDDCUP datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and generic applicability of our approach in improving the discriminative capability of AEs for anomaly detection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Characterizing Behaviors of Sockpuppets in Online Political Discourses

Recently, with the rapid development of social network services, political entities have employed social media to conduct political propaganda;they disseminate official announcements, promote candidates, and even attack the opposites. However, to influence public opinion, some of them will create sockpuppets to participate in discussions. To better understand the phenomenon, this study attempts to measure the behavioral differences between sockpuppets and normal users using network structure analysis and user behavior analysis. We observe and realize the behaviors of sockpuppets by collecting a dataset from PTT, a famous social forum in Taiwan. We propose three feature categories including author-based, commenter-based, and network-based features. From the analysis results, we find that sockpuppets are more active and attractive than ordinary users. Moreover, we observe that sockpuppets play an essential role in information flow from the results of the network structure of user relationships. © 2023 Institute of Information science. Free Space Optical (FSO) communication systems are used to transmit high data rates over short distances through the atmosphere. However, the performance of FSO communication links can be severely impacted by atmospheric conditions, such as fog, rain, and atmospheric turbulence. These conditions cause temporary and spatial changes in light intensity, which can lead to signal degradation and disruption. To ensure reliable FSO communication, it is important to take into account the meteorological conditions of the location where the FSO communication link will be deployed. This will help in determining the expected level of link availability and identifying potential problems that could arise due to atmospheric conditions. For example, if a location is prone to fog or heavy rain, it may not be suitable for FSO communication link. One key factor in the design and operation of FSO communication links is the Geometrical Losses (GL), which refer to the loss of power due to the divergence of the laser beam as it propagates through the atmosphere. This can be minimized by increasing the diameter of the receiver aperture, which allows more of the laser beam to be collected and directed towards the *** this paper, the researchers used a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to minimize GLs in the FSO communication link. The GA is an optimization technique that mimics the process of natural selection to find the best solution to a problem. In this case, the GA was used to find the optimal diameter of the receiver aperture that would minimize GLs. The researchers used the optimum tool in MATLAB 2017 to implement the GA and found that after a certain number of iterations, the GLs remained constant. This was considered to be the optimal diameter of the receiver aperture. © 2023 IEEE.
