3D classification is complex and challenging because of high-dimensional data, the intricate nature of their spatial relationships, and viewpoint variations. We fill the gap in view-based 3D object classification by examining the factors that influence classification's effectiveness via determining their respective merits in feature extraction for 3D object recognition by comparing CNN-based and Transformer-based backbone networks side-by-side. Our research extends to evaluating various fusion strategies to determine the most effective method for integrating multiple views and ascertain the optimal number of views that balances classification and computation. We also probe into the effectiveness of different feature types from rendering techniques in accurately depicting 3D objects. This investigation is supported by an extensive experimental framework, incorporating a diverse set of 3D objects from the ModelNet40 dataset. Finally, based on the analysis, we present a Selective Multi-View deep model (SelectiveMV) that shows efficient performance and provides high accuracy given a few views.

Microbolometers using a-Si 0.15 Ge 0.85 O 0.0236 thin films were fabricated using radio frequency magnetron sputtering and lift of technique. When a 200 nm-thick and 40 × 40 μm 2 Si 0.15 Ge 0.85 O 0.0236 pixels on top of the electrode arm was used, it was observed that the electrode arms and the pixels were wrapped after they were subjected to the surface micromachining process. In order to fix this problem, the design and process flow of the microbolometer array were optimized to obtain mechanically stable microbolometers. We used Ge x Si 1-x O y , silicon nitride, NiCr and silicon nitride to provide mechanical strength and stability to the microbolometer pixels. With the modified structure and process flow optimization it was found that the detectors of bridge structure were suspended on top of the substrate. We performed forming gas passivation at 250 o C for seven hours to minimize the 1/f-noise. A temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 4.8%/K was obtained at 295 K. We obtained the highest detectivity and responsivity values 1 × 10 4 V/W and 8.3 × 10 6 cm-Hz 1/2 /W.

In robotic swarms, nodes must cooperate in order to accomplish complex tasks. Robot interactions may occur at run-time based on the dynamic network topology and on mission-specific goals. For this reason, service discovery mechanisms are fundamental in order to inform each robot about the functionalities offered by the other peers. Although several network discovery protocols have been proposed so far, none of them fits the unique characteristics of robotic swarms in terms of dynamic topology, communication heterogeneity, and latency requirements. In this paper, we fill such gap by designing, implementing and evaluating a novel service discovery mechanisms for generic Robotic Systems-of-Systems (RSoS). The study proposes algorithmic and practical contributions. Regarding the first, we describe a novel distributed service discovery algorithm for RSoS which adapts to highly mobile robotic environments while limiting the network overhead and latency. Regarding the latter, we implemented the proposed algorithm within the Uhura swarm robotics framework; as a result, our solution is able to support multi-radio scenarios where robots are provided with heterogeneous Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication technologies. In addition, we validate our solution through large-scale simulations and a test-bed in which ground robots are able to discover a Federated Learning (FL) task and join it at run-time to improve the accuracy.
