An innovative deep learning structure, PulmoNetX, integrates the capabilities of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and vision Transformers (ViTs) to enhance pneumonia detection in chest X-ray imagery. During preprocessing, images are normalized in size, converted to grayscale, and subjected to contrast amplification to emphasize essential features. PulmoNetX employs a hybrid methodology to capture both the local and global characteristics of images, leading to significant advancements in diagnosing different pneumonia types, such as COVID-19-induced, viral, and bacterial pneumonia. Comparative studies reveal that PulmoNetX surpasses leading vision Transformer models in terms of precision, recall, F1-score, and overall accuracy, highlighting its advanced processing abilities and its promise as an effective diagnostic tool in X-ray lung disease detection. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Nowadays, high energy amount is being wasted by computing servers and personal electronic devices, which produce a high amount of carbon dioxide. Thus, it is required to decrease energy usage and pollution. Many applications are utilised by green computing to save energy. Scheduling of tasks acts as an important process to reach the mentioned goals. It is worth stating that the vital characteristic of task scheduling in green clouds is the load balancing of tasks on virtual machines. Efficient load balancing moves tasks from overloaded to underloaded virtual machines to maintain the Quality of Service (QoS). This issue is an NP-complete problem, so this research suggests a new technique based on the behavioural structure of artificial bee behaviour. This method aims to improve QoS while lowering energy usage in green computing. In addition, the honey bees are considered the removed tasks from overloaded virtual machines and a candidate for migrating selected tasks with the lowest priority. The CloudSim testing findings demonstrate that the technique is successful in QoS, makespan, and energy usage compared to other ways. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Unsupervised Object Detection using Patch Based Image Classifier and Gradient Importance Map

Image classification in computer vision has seen tremendous amount of success in recent years. Deep learning has played a pivotal role in achieving human level performance in many image recognition challenges and benchmarks. Even though, image classification has been so successful, no other closely related domains have taken advantage from the efforts put into development of image classification methods. One such closely related field is of Object Detection. Object detection or localisation is a computer vision problem whose solutions have not been victorious enough to human level performance. Many challenges arise when developing object detection models for newly generated domains, one of which is labelling of datasets. Preparation of dataset is one of the most cumbersome and expensive task to accomplish while developing an object detection model. Although, image classifiers are used as a feature extractor in object detection training regimes, their localisation abilities are barely studied. In this paper, we propose an object detection training regime, that does not rely on bounding box labelled datasets, hence unsupervised in nature, and is solely based on trained image classifiers. We build up on our hypothesis, that, "if an image classifier is able to predict what object is in the input image, then it must have information about where the object is, we just need a mechanism to extract that information from it". Precisely, we divide the input image into patches of same size and employ a parameter restricted convolutional classifier on each patches to predict whether it contains the object or not, we call this our patch-based image classifier (the object here is the prediction of the trained image classifier). The training of the patch-based classifier is not straightforward as there is no true labels for each patches on which we can reduce the binary cross-entropy. We investigate generalizable face anti-spoofing (FAS) using information bottleneck theory. As generalizable FAS aims to detect spoofing in unseen scenarios, it has recently gained significant attention. Existing methods often use adversarial strategies or auxiliary modules to learn domain-invariant features by mining data relationships from distinct source domains. However, their learned feature space may still shift for unseen data due to the spurious correlations overfitted from training domains. Our rationale is that the problem of generalized pattern learning in FAS can be framed as a unified binary-antithetical information transition process, grounded in information bottleneck theory. Specifically, we leverage mutual-information optimization to preserve the instance-level spoof-aware information while compressing domain-related information modeled from the antithetical identity distribution. This enables the model to dynamically identify domain-agnostic, minimal sufficient representations that consistently describe the live/spoof distributions while mitigating spurious correlations through cross-identity compression. In light of this, we propose a novel learning framework for FAS, named Binary-Antithetical Information Bottleneck (BIB)-FAS, which is proven to be effectively generalized to unseen scenarios without using auxiliary information (e.g., domain labels) for training. Extensive cross-domain evaluations show that BIB-FAS significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. The code is available at: ***/CV-AC/BIB-FAS. © 2025 IEEE.

Image enhancement is a widely used technique in digital image processing that aims to improve image aesthetics and visual quality. However, traditional methods of enhancement based on pixel-level or global-level modifications have limited effectiveness. Recently, as learning-based techniques gain popularity, various studies are now focusing on utilizing networks for image enhancement. However, these techniques often fail to optimize image frequency domains. This study addresses this gap by introducing a transformer-based model for improving images in the wavelet domain. The proposed model refines various frequency bands of an image and prioritizes local details and high-level features. Consequently, the proposed technique produces superior enhancement results. The proposed model’s performance was assessed through comprehensive benchmark evaluations, and the results suggest it outperforms the state-of-the-art techniques.

Breast Cancer (BC) remains a significant health challenge for women and is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Accurate diagnosis is critical for successful therapy and increased survival rates. Recent advances in medical imaging and computational technologies have enabled more precise methods of detecting and evaluating breast cancer. Accurate analysis and diagnosis utilizing medical imaging have developed as essential research topics, providing important help in clinical decision-making for various illnesses, including breast cancer. Machine learning (ML) can accurately predict breast cancer. But the breast cancer data has vague and uncertainty information. So, the neutrosophic sets (NSs) are used in this study to deal with uncertainty data. We convert the original dataset into neutrosophic data with three components such as truth, indeterminacy, and falsity values. Then we applied four ML models with N-data such as logistic regression, gradient boosting (GB), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), and support vector machines (SVM), to improve diagnostic accuracy. Then we compared the ML models with and without using N-data. The results show the logistic regression has higher accuracy with 98.6% with the N-data and 95.80% without N-data.
