Robust WiFi Sensing-Based Human Pose Estimation Using Denoising Autoencoder and CNN With Dynamic Subcarrier Attention

WiFi sensing-based human pose estimation (HPE) has gained significant attention in the academic community due to its advantages over vision- and sensor-based methods, including nonintrusiveness, convenience, and enhanced privacy protection. However, most existing WiFi-based pose Estimators suffer from poor performance and lack robustness in the presence of random noise. To address these challenges, this article presents a novel HPE architecture comprising two key modules: 1) a Denoiser and 2) an Estimator. The Denoiser is based on an autoencoder structure, while the Estimator is based on a new convolutional neural network (CNN) called SDy-CNN, which is designed to dynamically focus on high-information subcarriers of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals. Additionally, Bayesian optimization is employed to fine-tune the architecture’s parameters for optimal performance flexibly. Experiments conducted on a comprehensive dataset, MM-Fi, demonstrate that the proposed architecture significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art Estimators, achieving up to an 8.38% improvement in HPE accuracy in clean data scenarios and up to a 14% improvement in noisy data scenarios. It has also been proven to gain computational efficiency when being much faster than other methods. © 2014 IEEE.

Mass spectrometry (MS) serves as a powerful analytical technique in metabolomics. Traditional MS analysis workflows are heavily reliant on operator experience and are prone to be influenced by complex, high-dimensional MS data. This study introduces a deep learning framework designed to enhance the classification of complex MS data and facilitate biomarker screening. The proposed framework integrates preprocessing, classification, and biomarker selection, addressing challenges in high-dimensional MS analysis. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in classification tasks compared to other machine learning approaches. Additionally, the proposed peak-preprocessing module is validated for its potential in biomarker screening, identifying potential biomarkers from high-dimensional data. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

A Novel Approach to Continual Knowledge Transfer in Multilingual Neural Machine Translation Using Autoregressive and Non-Autoregressive Models for Indic Languages

Recent progress in multilingual pre-trained models has significantly improved translation quality for Indic languages. However, extending these models to new languages via fine-tuning or retraining remains computationally costly and often leads to parameter interference, degrading performance on previously learned or typologically distant languages. While continual learning offers a promising alternative for incremental language addition, its application in Indic contexts is still limited and faces challenges in generalization across diverse linguistic settings. To overcome these issues, we propose a Continual Knowledge Transfer (CKT) framework for efficient and scalable multilingual adaptation. CKT is realized in both autoregressive (MNMT) and non-autoregressive (Switch-GLAT) architectures, yielding two variants: MNMT+CKT and Switch-GLAT+CKT. Rather than retraining the entire model, CKT freezes the multilingual base and updates only parameters relevant to the newly added language. Key innovations include gradient-based knowledge pruning, sequential teacher integration, and dynamic vocabulary expansion for minimizing interference and maximizing cross-lingual retention. Comprehensive evaluations on the IN22-Conv and IN22-Gen benchmark datasets demonstrate that both MNMT+CKT and Switch-GLAT+CKT consistently outperform established baselines, such as IndicTrans2, Google Translate, GPT-4-32K, LLaMA-2-17B, and NLIP-LAB-IITH. The proposed multi-step distillation approach, MNMT+CKT, consistently outperforms conventional fine-tuning and Knowledge Transfer (MNMT+KT) strategies for incremental adaptation of linguistically diverse Indic languages. On IN22-Conv, BLEU improvements range from +4.93 (Kashmiri → English) to +11.48 (Assamese → English) and similar improvements are seen for IN22-Gen. The method also achieves substantial reductions in trainable parameters - 19.80% (Nepali) to 66.87% (Kannada) - while enabling up to 4x faster inference when integrated with the Switch-GL

Accurate nuclei segmentation is fundamental in histology image analysis, playing an essential role in cancer grading and diagnosis. However, this task remains challenging due to variations in staining protocols, heterogeneity among nuclei types, and the densely clustered nature of nuclei. While SAM exhibits zero-shot generalization capabilities in natural image segmentation, its performance degrades when applied to nuclei segmentation in histology images. Existing adaptations of SAM for medical imaging primarily focus on organ or lesion segmentation, which differs substantially from nuclei segmentation due to the unique characteristics of nuclei - specifically, their sparse distribution combined with dense clustering. To address these challenges, we propose Edge-SAN (Segment Any Nuclei with Edge Prompting), an interactive segmentation foundation model specifically designed for nuclei segmentation. Edge-SAN introduces a novel edge prompting method that enhances the delineation of nuclei boundaries, particularly among densely clustered nuclei, by leveraging edge information to improve segmentation accuracy. We evaluate Edge-SAN on 12 diverse datasets in both few-shot and zero-shot scenarios, demonstrating its effectiveness as a foundation model for nuclei segmentation, achieving 66.81% AJI and 73.13% DSC - improvements of 16.33% and 15.48% over SAM-Med2D, respectively. Self-knowledge distillation with dimensional history knowledge

Existing self-knowledge distillation (Self-KD) solutions usually focus on transferring historical predictions of individual instances to the current network. However, this approach tends to create overconfidence for easy instances and underconfidence for hard instances. The widely used temperature-based strategies to smooth or sharpen the predicted distributions can lead to inconsistencies across instances, causing sensitivity issues. To address this, our approach views a queue of instances as an ensemble rather than treating each instance independently. We propose a novel method that distills historical knowledge from a dimensional perspective, utilizing intra class characteristics and interclass relationships within each ensemble. First, we align each dimension distribution from the current network to the historical output. Second, we ensure each dimension is closer to similar dimensions than dissimilar ones, maintaining consistent attitudes from present and historical perspectives. Our insights reveal that distilling historical knowledge from a dimensional perspective is more effective than the traditional instance-based approach, with potential applications in related tasks. Empirical results on three famous datasets and various network architectures demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method. Our code is available at https://***/WenkeHuang/DimSelfKD.
