software systems today are frequently composed from prefabricated commercial components that provide complex functionality and engage in complex interactions. Such projects that utilize multiple commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products often confront interoperability conflicts resulting in budget and schedule overruns. These conflicts occur because of the incompatible assumptions made by developers of these products. Identification of such conflicts and planning strategies to resolve them is critical for developing such systems under budget and schedule constraints. In this paper we present an attribute-based framework that can be used to perform automated interoperability assessment to filter out COTS product combinations whose integration will not be feasible within the project constraints. Our framework is built upon standard definitions of both COTS components and connectors and is intended for use by architects and developers during the design phase of a software system. Our preliminary experience in using the framework indicates an increase in interoperability assessment productivity by 50% and accuracy by 20%. © 2007 IEEE.

To ensure the security of image information and facilitate efficient management in the cloud, the utilization of reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) has emerged as pivotal. However, most existing RDHEI schemes suffer from lower security and limited embedding capacity. To tackle these challenges, we propose a reversible data hiding with secret encrypted image sharing and adaptive coding scheme. Specifically, in the encryption phase, we introduce an improved secret sharing (SS) encryption method based on the chinese remainder theorem for polynomials (CRTP). This method not only improves the security of encrypted images but also vacates a larger room for embedding. In the embedding phase, we introduce an adaptive coding embedding approach using XOR preservation (XORP) and huffman coding, which provides high embedding capacity. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrate that our proposed encryption method achieves optimal values in security indicators for encrypted images, such as information entropy, histograms, NPCR and UACI. The proposed embedding method is superior to some state-of-the-art schemes in terms of embedding capacity. Furthermore, in datasets BOSSBase and BOWS2, the average embedding rates of the proposed embedding approach can reach 2.1745 bpp and 2.0656 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

The principles of Agile software development are increasingly used in large software development projects, e.g. using Scrum of Scrums or combining Agile and Lean development methods. When large software products are developed by self-organized, usually feature-oriented teams, there is a risk that architectural dependencies between software components become uncontrolled. In particular there is a risk that the prescriptive architecture models in form of diagrams are outdated and implicit architectural dependencies may become more frequent than the explicit ones. In this paper we present a method for automated discovery of potential dependencies between software components based on analyzing revision history of software repositories. The result of this method is a map of implicit dependencies which is used by architects in decisions on the evolution of the architecture. The software architects can assess the validity of the dependencies and can prevent unwanted component couplings and design erosion hence minimizing the risk of post-release quality problems. Our method was evaluated in a case study at one large product at Saab Electronic Defense systems (Saab EDS) and one large software product at Ericsson AB. © 2013 IEEE.

Weakly supervised 3D semantic segmentation has successfully mitigated the labor-intensive and time-consuming task of annotating 3D point clouds. However, reliably utilizing the minimal point-wise annotations for unlabeled data in complex and large-scale scenes is still challenging, such as only 20 points labeled in 2 million points. To tackle this challenge, we propose a new Uncertainty-aware Superpoint Graph Transformer (UaSGT) framework that utilizes minimal annotations for unlabeled data learning through reliable long-range supervision propagation from labeled superpoints to unlabeled superpoints. First, we propose a superpoint graph transformer to achieve long-range supervision propagation along the attention-based fuzzy subsets defined on superpoints. The attention-based fuzzy subset measures the membership of unlabeled superpoints to clusters centered on labeled superpoints. Second, we employ an uncertainty-aware membership rectification technique on the fuzzy subset to ensure reliable propagation among superpoints within the same category. This technique integrates an uncertainty prediction module to mask the influence of unreliable membership and a spatial prior refinement module to reduce uncertainty in intra-class membership degrees. Finally, experimental results on two large-scale benchmarks S3DIS and ScanNet-V2 demonstrate the superiority of our approach compared to the state-of-the-art with at least 90% annotation reduction, and our method also achieves comparable performance to fully supervised methods with less than 0.1% labeled points. In recent years, with the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the information technology has been widely used in smart home applications. On the other hand, smart home technology closely related to people’s privacy, which is not much considered by smart home vendors, making the privacy protection of smart home a hot research topic. Traditional encryption methods can ensure the security of the transmission process, but it can hardly resist the side channel attacks. Adversaries can analyze the radio frequency signals of wireless sensors and timestamp series to acquire the Activity of Daily Living (ADL). The most simple and efficient way to counter side channel attacks is to add noise into the transmitted data sequence. In this paper, we propose an improved method based on Logistic Regression (LR), which can be adapted to network status to protect the privacy of residents in smart home environments. Compared with other similar approaches, our method has the advantage of low energy consumption, low latency, strong adaptability and good effect of privacy protection. © 2018, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

Through the analysis of Rayleigh model, an explanation model on the quality effect of peer reviews is constructed. The review activities are evaluated by the defect removal rate at each phase. We made Hypotheses on how these measurements are related to the product quality. These Hypotheses are verified through regression analysis of actual project data and concrete calculation formulae are obtained as a model. This explanation model can be used to (1) evaluate the effect of peer review especially the upper steam review quantitatively, (2) make concrete review plan and to set objective values for review activities, (3) evaluate the effect of each peer review activity or method.

Cloud computing provides the essential infrastructure for multi-tier Ambient Assisted Living(AAL) applications that facilitate people's lives. Resource provisioning is a critically important problem for AAL applications in cloud data centers(CDCs). This paper focuses on modeling and analysis of multi-tier AAL applications, and aims to optimize resource provisioning while meeting requests' response time constraint. This paper models a multi-tier AAL application as a hybrid multi-tier queueing model consisting of an M/M/c queueing model and multiple M/M/1 queueing models. Then, virtual machine(VM) allocation is formulated as a constrained optimization problem in a CDC, and is further solved with the proposed heuristic VM allocation algorithm(HVMA). The results demonstrate that the proposed model and algorithm can effectively achieve dynamic resource provisioning while meeting the performance constraint.

Developing security-critical systems is difficult and there are many well-known examples of security weaknesses exploited in practice. In particular, so far little research has been performed on the soundly based design of secure architectures, which would be urgently needed to develop secure systems reliably and efficiently. In this abstract, we sketch some research on a sound methodology supporting secure architecture design. We give an overview over an extension of UML, called UMLsec, that allows expressing security-relevant information within the diagrams in an architectural design specification. We define foundations for secure architectural design patterns. We present tool-support which has been developed for the UMLsec secure architecture approach. © 2005 Elsevier B.V.
