In recent years, colleges and universities in Hunan Province have set up teachers’ teaching development centers. In order to deeply understand their organizational structure and work situation, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the staff of teaching development institutions of ordinary colleges and universities in Hunan Province. According to the survey, the work of teaching development centers in Hunan Province has been widely recognized by the majority of teachers, but there are still problems such as imperfect organization, inadequate condition construction and lacking of academic professionalism. The solution of these problems requires the university to put forward the understanding and top-level design at the school level, strengthen the centers’ cooperation and exchanges between different colleges and universities, and jointly promote the level of teaching quality and faculty development. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Developing large-scale exams for a massive number of preparatory year students by a small designated committee of exam developers is a common practice in colleges and universities around the world. However, in adopting this approach, some higher institutions might be confronted with some obstacles such as the unavailability of skilful exam developers and proper resources. To address this issue, we proposed CrowdyQ, a virtual crowdsourcing platform, to investigate the impact of involving a large number of same-subject university instructors in the creation and evaluation of question items in a collaborative manner for the purpose of developing high quality exams. This paper describes the development of CrowdyQ platform and it discusses briey its potential significance in developing high quality large-scale exam questions in a university context. © 2015 ACM.

Cold atmospheric plasma prevents wrinkle formation via an antiaging process

Cold atmospheric plasma is a material that generates free radicals through the ionization of air. Despite the application of this material in various medical fields, the precise mechanism underlying its effect at the cellular level is not fully understood. To date, it is known to stimulate the expression of antioxidant transcription factors such as nuclear factor erythroid 2–related factor 2 (Nrf2), forkhead box class O 3a (FOXO3a), and heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1). In this study, we aimed to assess whether and how cold atmospheric plasma af-fects damaged cells, particularly after exposure to UV radiation. We found that it can promote mitochondrial health by controlling the stability of the membrane potential of mitochondria against UV radiation. Moreover, cold atmospheric plasma prevents senescence in fibroblasts exposed to UV radiation through the upregulation of p53. It also exhibits hormetic effects (i.e., beneficial effects at low doses) on MMP and collagen in senescent fibroblasts exposed to UV radiation. In conclusion, cold atmospheric plasma treatment not only protects fibroblasts from free radicals but also represses the aging of these cells in a UV-radiation–induced aging process. © 2020 by Begell House, Inc. ***.

With the popularity of MOOCs(Massive Open Online Courses),massive structured,semi-structured and unstructured data about learning is recorded for further analysis and *** is the direct way for learners to ask questions and clarify their ***,we utilize the plain text of posts and responses in MOOCs forum to extract keywords of misconceptions for instructors based on Natural Language Processing(NLP) *** this study,the researchers mining these misconceptions from over 120 thousands of single Chinese words and 15 thousands of English words in a ***,we visualize them by word clouds and social network graphs for quickly and better understanding of misconceptions and their correlation.

Background: Given many advancement in technology, information & communication technology (ICT) in education for enhancing effectiveness of teaching and learning has become a widely applied and discussed area. Usability is central for the success of any instructional design product or learning materials, including any educational websites, learning management system, mobile devices, and wearable technology. The System Usability Scale (SUS) is one of the commonly used questionnaires for usability rating. Objectives: With the increasing interest in usability studies and user experience research, there is a need to officially translate it into Chinese and also to validate the translation. The aim of this paper is to describe the process of translating the original System Usability Scale (SUS) from English into Chinese (C-SUS), and to evaluate its reliability and validity in the college students. Methods: This study consisted of two phases. In phase one, the SUS was translated into Chinese by a group of translators and experts in education using Brislin's (1970, 1986) translation and back-translation method. Both semantic equivalence and content validity were assessed. In the second phase, the psychometric properties of the C-SUS were tested with two studies and with convenience samples of 125 (study 1) and 104 (study 2) college students recruited from a private university in southern Taiwan. Reliability was assessed by internal consistency and construct validity was tested using exploratory factor analysis. Data analyses was performed using SPSS 23.0 to assess reliability and validity. Results: The sematic equivalence and content validity index of the Chinese version of SUS were satisfactory. Results also indicated that the Chinese version had a high level of equivalence with the original English version and demonstrated a high internal consistency. The fundamentals of electrical engineering is a compulsory course set up by the school of electrical and automation of Wuhan University for undergraduate junior students. As an important platform course of electrical engineering, it has high requirements for students to learn the pre sequence basic courses. Firstly, this paper uses grey correlation analysis to analyze the correlation between the courses of advanced mathematics, circuit theory and electrical engineering of undergraduate students in recent three years and this course. Then the correlation coefficient is obtained and normalized. Finally, it is used as the analysis of new students’ learning situation. With the rapid development of the online education, various E-learning platform have generated tremendous amount of data, which provide the basis for quantitative analysis of learning behavior. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between students characteristic and online learning behavior. Based on the learning data from the courses offered by Chongqing E-learning Academy for Leadership platform, this study analyzed the differences of cadres’ learning behavior from nine aspects: learners’ age, gender, rank, unit, login times, studying times, learning completion, the correlation of the gender and rank between with the elective course, and the correlation of the age and rank between with the elective course. The results showed that the login times and the learning times are related with the month, the completion rate is related with the units and the average number of elective courses are relate with the gender and rank.
