The abundance of digital data available in today’s environment can improve quality of life and offer helpful insights. In the e-commerce space, customer evaluations and comments about a product may truly be utilized to gain valuable information for the seller, which can then be applied to the product’s enhancement. This study seeks to collect comments on the product’s surrounding features as well as the polarity of the sentiments expressed in product reviews. By doing this, the vendor will be able to comprehend the consumer market, consider ideas, and adjust their product properly. The model implementation consists of three parts, aspect term extraction, opinion term extraction, and sentiment score calculation. An unsupervised rule-based model has been implemented to extract aspect and opinion terms, whereas a BERT model to obtain the sentiment score. © 2025 IEEE.

With the advancement of computing and display technologies, 3D vision devices have been widely used in various fields. This state-of-the-art technology enables users to immerse themselves in photorealistic volumetric images within virtually simulated environments. However, due to known depth perception issues, its usage has been limited to qualitative purposes. Studies have been executed to enhance depth perception in virtual spaces. This paper comprehensively analyzes experimental studies for improving measurement accuracy in 3D spaces by incorporating artificially generated depth cues. We studied in-depth how scaling factors, applied to virtual environments, impact human depth perception. A series of experiments were performed in two strategically designed settings, where the content within 3D spaces was either minified or magnified for proper viewing. Our two-staged development and user tests revealed several noteworthy findings to develop and apply computer-generated techniques for enhancing depth perception accuracy. This paper summarizes the study outcomes with future research tasks to utilize the 3D technology beyond qualitative purposes. © 2023 Owner/Author.

NASA is exploring the development of a 180-passenger subsonic single engine aft turbine aircraft, The aft turbine provides electric power in a hybrid design to wing mounted electric engines, creating a highly efficient, high-bypass-ratio fan equivalent. The SUbsonic Single Aft eNgine (SUSAN) aircraft is being developed as a sustainable subsonic regional aircraft that seeks to reduce emission levels by 50% in the next few decades. Pilot-in-the-loop studies were conducted at the NASA Langley Research center in Hampton, Virginia, to explore the flight deck design for the hybrid electric aircraft. Following modern trends in commercial aircraft flight decks with full time augmented controls and a quiet and dark philosophy, single throttle and simplified engine displays were developed for the SUSAN aircraft. The aircraft includes a single aft mounted turbine engine and 16 wing mounted electric fans. The final design was developed from feedback received during an earlier pilot-in-the-loop study where one, two, and three throttles were tested in standard airline operations, including various failures of the turbine and electric engines. Current flight deck designs normally provide control inceptors for each propulsion engine and an engine display for all primary aircraft engine parameters. With full time augmentation expected, a single throttle control with autothrottle always engaged, even during failures, is desired. Augmentation of flight controls using distributed thrust also requires full time control of the electric engines using automation. Additionally, electric engine thrust is augmented during climb based on battery state of charge. Thrust augmentation changes faster than human reaction time and therefore requires full-time automation. A pilot-in-the-loop study was conducted at the NASA Langley Research center in Hampton, Virginia, to test the final design of the single throttle with simplified engine displays. NASA is exploring the development of a 180-passenger subsonic single engine aft turbine aircraft where the aft turbine provides electric power in a hybrid design to wing mounted electric engines. A pilot-in-the-loop study was conducted at Langley Research center in Hampton, Virginia to explore the design of a flight deck for the hybrid electric aircraft with 16 wing fans and an aft-mounted turbine engine. Current flight deck designs provide control inceptors for each propulsion engine and display of all engine parameters for all primary aircraft engines. Automation trends and increasing automation in flight controls and throttle controls indicate less controls instead of more. Based on current state-of-the-art review, the design team recommended study of three, two, and one throttle levers. Existing engine displays were researched, and two concepts were recommended for initial evaluation. Eighteen (18) airline pilots evaluated the three throttle configurations and two engine display options. Engine failures for known probable indications were evaluated against all throttle and display configurations. These scenarios included one, four symmetric, eight non-symmetric, and sixteen momentary electric engine failures with the loss of the aft turbine. The turbine engine was evaluated for complete and partial failure during critical phases of takeoff as well as *** paper details the pilot study including pilot comments supporting the potential for increased automation and a single throttle control. Detailed recommendations are provided for a novel single throttle control and additional pilot controls to support selection of engines during start, shutdown, and engine troubleshooting procedures. This design deviates significantly from current practice of providing throttles for each propulsion engine. While various sensors have been deployed to monitor vehicular flows, sensing pedestrian movement is still nascent. Yet walking is a significant mode of travel in many cities, especially those in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Understanding pedestrian volumes and flows is essential for designing safer and more attractive pedestrian infrastructure and for controlling periodic overcrowding. This study discusses a new approach to scale up urban sensing of people with the help of novel audio-based technology. It assesses the benefits and limitations of microphone-based sensors as compared to other forms of pedestrian sensing. A large-scale dataset called ASPED is presented, which includes high-quality audio recordings along with video recordings used for labeling the pedestrian count data. The baseline analyses highlight the promise of using audio sensors for pedestrian tracking, although algorithmic and technological improvements to make the sensors practically usable continue. This study also demonstrates how the data can be leveraged to predict pedestrian trajectories. Finally, it discusses the use cases and scenarios where audio-based pedestrian sensing can support better urban and transportation planning.

Importance:Narrative medicine(NM),in which patient stories play a crucial role in their diagnosis and treatment,can potentially support a more holistic approach to patient care than traditional scientiffc ***,there are some challenges in the implementation of narrative medicine,for example,differences in understanding illnesses between physicians and patients and physicians’increased workloads and overloaded *** paper ffrst presents a review to explore previous visualization research for narrative medicine to bridge the gap between visualization researchers and narrative medicine experts and explore further visualization ***:The review is conducted from 2 perspectives:(a)the contexts and domains in which visualization has been explored for narrative medicine and(b)the forms and solutions applied in these *** applied domains are deffned,including understanding patients from narrative records,medical communication,medical conversation training in education,and psychotherapy and emotional wellness ***:A future work framework illustrates some opportunities for future research,including groups of speciffc directions and future points for the 4 domains and 3 technological exploration opportunities(combination of narrative and medical data visualization,taskaudience-based visual storytelling,and user-centered interactive visualization).Speciffcally,3 directions of future work in medical communication(asynchronous online physician-patient communication,synchronous face-to-face medical conversation,and medical knowledge dissemination)were concluded.
