In RTB advertising, the AdExchange platform (AdX) can be regarded as a bridge connecting the supply side and demand side of advertising, and advertisers buy the ad impressions through the Demand-Side Platforms (DSPs). As such, there is a two-stage auction process for each ad impression, and the first stage is organized by the DSPs, while the second stage is organized by the AdX. In the two-stage auction process, two possible revenue models are available for DSPs, namely commission model and two-stage resale model. In this paper, we first compare the revenues of DSPs under the two models, and then explore the optimal revenue model for a DSP under the condition that the revenue model of other DSPs are given. We also unitize the computational experiments approach to evaluate our proposed method, and our results can help DSPs find their optimal revenue model in RTB advertising.

The privacy issues become a major problem that should be resolved for the existing centralized online social networks, which have prompted researchers to consider the decentralization framework for online social networks. In this paper, we propose a novel decentralized social networking architecture enhanced by blockchain technology. We use a sharding framework to increase the system scalability, a blockchain system to ensure the data integrity and consistency, a reputation-based authority control method to improve the system security.

Learning control of dynamical systems based on Markov decision processes (MDPs) is an interdisciplinary research area of machine learning, control theory, and operations research. The main objective in this research area is to realize data-driven multi-stage optimal control for complex or uncertain dynamical systems. This paper presents a comprehensive survey on the theory, algorithms, and applications of MDP-based learning control of dynamical systems. Emphases are put on recent advances in the theory and methods of reinforcement learning (RL) and adaptive/approximate dynamic programming (ADP), including temporal-difference learning theory, value function approximation for continuous state and action spaces, direct policy search, approximate policy iteration, and adaptive critic designs. —Cyber Movement Organization (CMO) is a special kind of social movement organization on the Web. In this paper, we propose a model to simulate the mobilizing process of CMO, which consists of the individual unit, organization unit, and the mobilizing mechanisms. The mobilizing mechanisms has three sub-mechanisms: the participation mechanism, the choice mechanism, and the inviting mechanism. A dataset of more than two million “human flesh search” related microblogs is used to validate the model. Empirical results show that our model can capture the key features of the real-world mobilizing process.

Micro-simulation becomes more and more important in the Intelligent Transportation systems (ITS) research, because it can provide detailed descriptions of the system. For a multi-agent systems (MAS) modeling of an ITS, the computation burden is large, as it involves the computation of the state changing of all the agents. And, there are many multi-objective optimization problems in the ITS research. In this paper, we solve the traffic light signaling optimization problem and we take the average delay time and the average stop times as two objectives. We use a famous method of Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II). As NSGA-II can be viewed as an intelligent way of running a number of micro-simulations, usually the computation burden is huge. Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) have been a popular tool for parallel computing. The real transportation system runs in parallel and we think that a parallel tool is more suitable for the simulation and optimization of the system. We test GPU based NSGA-II method on a 4 intersection lattice road network, and on the 18 intersection road network of the Zhongguancun area of Beijing. Compared with the CPU version, the GPU version implementation achieves a speedup factor of 21.46 and 27.64 respectively.

With increasing popularity of Internet of Vehicles (IoV), concerns for reliable and low complexity communication techniques are proposed due to the requirements of signal reliability and transmission delay for vehicles. Meanwhile, the explosive and pervasive use of social network applications further adds drivers' social relationships and behavioural characteristics into it, and makes it a cyber-physical-social system (CPSS). This paper proposes and analyzes an improved forward scheme for full deplex cooperative vehicular networks in terms of its CPSS features. The proposed CPSS-based forwarding (CPSS-F) strategy forwards a soft estimate of the received signal based on social historic data at the relay node (vehicle/infrastructure) to the destination node (vehicle/infrastructure), which achieves improved reliability than the two conventional strategies in cooperative networks, i.e., amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF). Furthermore, the proposed CPSS-F relay achieves performance gains and complexity reduction compared to the conventional AF and DF. Experimental results further confirm the advantages of the proposed CPSS-F for cooperative vehicular networks. The proposed CPSS-F approach is easily extended to other cooperative vehicular social networks, for example, multi-way, half-duplex, or large-antenna networks. © 2018 IEEE.

Recent years have witnessed much interest in Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) technologies, which are gaining unprecedented momentum and commercial interest towards the realisation of the Internet of Things (IoT). Long Range (LoRa), as a representative LPWA technology, has the potential to satisfy the growing demand for the longer range and larger amount connectivities in vehicular communication networks. In this paper, LoRa is firstly applied into two typical vehicular networks, namely Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I)and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), and performance of LoRa schemes with different parameter configurations are evaluated and compared. Further, Monte Carlo simulations indicate that the schemes equipped with higher bandwidth or lower spreading factor exhibit significant advantages in combating the fast fading caused by Doppler effect in networks.

Because the structure and function of a high-rise building is complex and the density of occupants in it is high, fire safety is still a worldwide difficult problem. Safety and timely evacuation is an important issue under fire in the high-rise buildings. Because it is impossible in fact to do experiments about fire safety evacuation in high-rise buildings, in this paper, a research framework based on the artificial system, computational experiments, and parallel excution (ACP) theory is proposed. First, an evacuation process is considered to compose of two stages including pre-evacuation stage and evacuation stage. Second, artifical men with recognition functions based agent technology is proposed. Finally, computational experiments are designed by using an orthogonal experiment table, and experiment procedure of pre-evacuation stage is given. The idea of systimatic research about the influence of fire control facilities to evacuation is also proposed.

Video image datasets are playing an essential role in design and evaluation of traffic vision algorithms. Nevertheless, a longstanding inconvenience concerning image datasets is that manually collecting and annotating large-scale diversified datasets from real scenes is time-consuming and prone to error. For that virtual datasets have begun to function as a proxy of real datasets. In this paper, we propose to construct large-scale artificial scenes for traffic vision research and generate a new virtual dataset called "parallelEye". First of all, the street map data is used to build 3D scene model of Zhongguancun Area, Beijing. Then, the computer graphics, virtual reality, and rule modeling technologies are utilized to synthesize large-scale, realistic virtual urban traffic scenes, in which the fidelity and geography match the real world well. Furthermore, the Unity3D platform is used to render the artificial scenes and generate accurate ground-truth labels, e.g., semantic/instance segmentation, object bounding box, object tracking, optical flow, and depth. The environmental conditions in artificial scenes can be controlled completely. As a result, we present a viable implementation pipeline for constructing large-scale artificial scenes for traffic vision research. The experimental results demonstrate that this pipeline is able to generate photorealistic virtual datasets with low modeling time and high accuracy labeling. Copyright © 2017, The Authors.
