In this paper we describe the semi-automatic annotation tool for annotating online handwritten data of Indic scripts. The annotation of handwriting data is essential to train and test the recognizers. In this paper we briefly describe the XML representation for storing online handwritten data in Indian languages. We then describe the annotation tool which essentially annotates at stroke, character and word level and exploits the uniqueness of XML standard to provide quality labels at different levels of annotation. The tool also facilitates classification of data based on quality of handwriting, age & region of writers. The annotator can verify the outputs suggested by the tool. The tool is supplemented by a utility for data segregation and accuracy calculator which aids quick performance analysis of recognizer. This tool is extensively used for annotating large amount of Hindi data and promising time saving is obtained in otherwise tedious annotation activity.

Assessment of sleep-stage patterns and sleep disorders with the conventional sensor system uses many electrodes and straps to record the physiological body parameters. This causes inconvenience to the person who undergoes the sleep study. Thus a contactless measurement system would be ideal for measurement of body parameters for sleep-stage pattern analysis. We propose a contactless measurement system called Smart Bed, to detect heartbeat, breathing pattern and body movements using load sensors installed on four legs of the bed. This method uses cardio ballistic force near the thorax region when blood is being pumped out of heart by the left ventricle, known as Ballistocardiography, to measure a heartbeat. A slightly slower frequency variation in the same thorax region caused by breathing effect is measured to get respiration signal. The body movement patterns are also detected along with the other parameters. These parameters have direct influence on sleep disorders & sleep-stage patterns. Conventional sensors are used to correlate the accuracy of detected parameters from load sensors. The Smart Bed can be used in home environment for long term monitoring without any supervision from trained professionals.

This paper provides a deeper insight into the synthesis mechanism of VHDL tools. It examines three methods of writing VHDL code, and each of the three models finite state machines in a different way. There can be significant reductions in the VLSI area and improvements in performance by adopting a certain modeling style, but this is at the cost of writing low level VHDL code, thereby undermining the purpose of VHDL as the design, entry medium. However, there is a simpler approach, which is demonstrated by a software tool called vtvt which allows writing VHDL code at high level and optimizes for area and performance without the burden of writing and maintaining low level code.

Industrial Control System(ICS) testbed is the basis of ICS safety research. In order to build an ICS testbed, it is necessary to have a deep understanding of the current research status. This paper introduced the structure and composition of the typical ICS system. Then it simply analyzed the technical characteristics, system framework and advantages and disadvantages of four types of typical ICS testbeds. Finally, it summarized application scenarios of ICS testbed and pointed out some problems in testbed construction and the development direction of ICS testbed with the fusion of cyber and physical. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Electronic tongue has already been used to estimate the quality of tea in terms of tea-tasters scores that are subjective and limited by human sensory organs. It is known that, chemical constituents play significant role to determine the quality of tea. Thus the perception of quality as understood from an electronic tongue can be improved if it can be trained to estimate the amount of major chemicals responsible for quality of tea. An alternate method of rapid quality evaluation of tea is proposed using a voltammetric electronic tongue to determine two major taste descriptors in black tea. The correlation model is developed between the electronic tongue signatures and theaflavins/thearubigins contents of tea using multi-layer perceptrons. The perception of taste is further improved using scaled conjugate gradient as a weight optimization algorithm. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

The aging of the worldwide population has led to a growing prevalence of vascular diseases, negatively impacting national healthcare systems and patients. The application of information technologies in the health sector has the potential to allow the remote monitoring of patients and the personalization of healthcare. This work proposes the architecture for a remote monitoring platform that supports the self-management of vascular diseases in the context of the Inno4Health project, with the goal of stimulating the innovation in the continuous monitoring of the patients’ health. The platform aims to support health professionals and patients with vascular diseases through the continuous monitoring of their health condition and presentation of monitoring reports. Self-management tools will be provided to patients through the presentation of personalized recommendations adapted to their current health condition. By doing so, we believe it will be possible to improve the patients’ self-management of their disease as well as decrease the risk of disease-related complications. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With wireless acoustic sensor network extending to the services like surveillance of sensitive areas, such as Line of Control, or unmanned terrains, interest in robust, narrowband and low bit rate speech codecs is increasing. This has resulted in a need for evaluation of such codecs. This work investigates the different factors like bit rate, algorithmic delay, implementation, and more importantly robustness of codec's perceptual quality to noise. These factors play a vital role in choosing a speech codec and evaluating its performance. This work examines the selected narrow band speech codecs using ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union) recommendation P.862 tool. This study can also help to choose a speech codec in myriad applications like Wireless Acoustic Sensor Networks, Cellular Telephony, VoIP, Underwater Acoustic Monitoring and many other applications where bandwidth plays a vital role and data compression is inevitable.

Blockchain is an emerging decentralized architecture and distributed computing paradigm underlying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies,and has recently attracted intensive attention from governments,financial institutions,high-tech enterprises,and the capital *** cryptographic security relies on asymmetric cryptography,such as ECC,***,with the surprising development of quantum technology,asymmetric cryptography schemes mentioned above would become ***,lattice-based cryptography scheme was proposed to be secure against attacks in the quantum *** 2018,with the aid of Bonsai Trees technology,Yin et al.[Yin,Wen,Li et al.(2018)]proposed a lattice-based authentication method which can extend a lattice space to multiple lattice spaces accompanied by the corresponding *** their scheme has theoretical significance,it is unpractical in actual situation due to extremely large key size and signature *** this paper,aiming at tackling the critical issue of transaction size,we propose a post quantum blockchain over *** using SampleMat and signature without trapdoor,we can reduce the key size and signature size of our transaction authentication approach by a significant *** of using a whole set of vectors as a basis,we can use only one vector and rotate it enough times to form a *** on the hardness assumption of Short Integer Solution(SIS),we demonstrate that the proposed anti-quantum transaction authentication scheme over lattice provides existential unforgeability against adaptive chosen-message attacks in the random *** compared to the Yin et al.[Yin,Wen,Li et al.(2018)]scheme,our scheme has better performance in terms of energy consumption,signature size and signing key *** the underlying lattice problem is intractable even for quantum computers,our scheme would work well in the quantum age.

Background: Machine learning (ML) prepares and trains a model through supervised or unsupervised learning methods. Sputum, a respiratory tract secretion, is a common laboratory specimen that aids in diagnosing respiratory diseases, including pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). Gram stain is an easy, cost-effective stain, which may be applied to sputum smears to screen out an unsatisfactory sample. ML model may help in screening sputum smears. Methods: This collaborative project was carried out from June 2020-July 2021. In this study, a color-based segmentation ML algorithm using K-Means clustering was developed. A library of stained sputum smears was built. The Bartletts criteria (based on neutrophil and squamous cell count) for screening and selecting satisfactory sputum smears were used. A smartphone camera was used to take several photographs of satisfactory, as well as unsatisfactory, smears. The image segmentation algorithm was applied to medical image analysis, color-segmentation of sputum images was done. The hue saturation value (HSV) color ranges were defined on a prototype image. Then, all connected pixels were identified as a single object, and morphological operations were applied. Results: Usage of AI-driven model on the slide-image revealed the slide adequacy as the cell count was acceptable based on Bartlett's criteria. Both the manual cell counts (Range: 126–203 neutrophils, 14–47 squamous cells) and the model counts (Range: 117–242 neutrophils, 14–37 squamous cells) are within acceptable limits. Conclusion: The use of a model to screen a large number of sputum slides may be a boon in resource-limited settings where trained microscopists may not be easily available. © 2021

Due to the ever increasing growth rate of malwares, Memory Forensics has become unavoidable in a cyber crime investigation. This is because physical memory may contain crucial information that is available nowhere in the system hard disk. Memory Forensics deals with collection of forensically sound evidence from physical memory content of Suspect's system. This is a fast growing and challenging field in computer forensics where a live forensic methodology is adopted in order to acquire physical memory content. Analysis of the collected memory dump is very difficult due to the complex data structures in it, especially in Windows ×64 systems. Also, the complexity involved in 64-bit address translation makes the analysis tougher. This translation can be done only after finding an artifact called Directory Table Base (DTB). Even though there are few methods available for finding DTB, none is efficient for adopting in a memory analysis tool. In this paper, a novel methodology for finding DTB in a 64-bit Windows system is described in detail. The paper also explains algorithms for retrieving forensically relevant information like running processes and its associated details from physical memory dump collected from Windows7 × 64 machines.
