Human safety in a vehicle is a prime focus of research in past few years. Several attempts have been made by various groups of researchers, academics and industry people around the world to address the potential issues in non-crash related accidents. Of all non-crash related accidents, heatstroke is major factor that leads in children deaths. Our work is largely motivated by safety issues due to non crash related fatalities such as heat stroke. We propose a simple and cost effective solution to alert vehicle owners about the heat stroke inside a vehicle and to avoid the death apparently due to suffocation. The proposed project work is beneficial not only to the vehicle owner but also to the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA's). We indent to develop a prototype for Indian market.

Short-Term power market cover contracts of less than a year period by bilateral transactions through Trading Licensees or directly by the Distribution Companies (DISCOMS) and power exchanges. The Open Access bilateral transactions for short-term power market between the states or inter-state is handled by regional load despatch centre (RLDC) and follows Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) guidelines. According to CERC guidelines for inter-State Open Access bilateral transaction, the traders/licensees need to take concurrence from the state load dispatcher center (SLDC) which is an offline activity. The Open Access for short-term bilateral transaction within state or intra-State is handled by SLDC which is also an offline activity. Both these offline activities are time consuming and error prone and hence delay the overall process of open access bilateral transaction at both regional and state level. To make these activities online for each SLDC, a huge initial investment is required. In this paper, we present a cost-effective solution as Software as a Service (SaaS) on cloud environment for all SLDC(s). The cloud technology is used for implementation to make the solution highly scalable, easily configurable and easily manageable [1].

From recent past, the computational Grid based flood assessment and forecasting models is getting emerged as an interdisciplinary integrated `near real time/real time model'. Many such, Grid based flood assessment and forecasting model supports in logically integrating various components of flood related scientific simulations such as Metrological, Hydrological, Hydraulic, RADAR, LIDAR Remote Sensing, GIS, Satellite Communication and other technologies and derives the end result which can be straight away used by the disaster mitigation team member/end user. This paper mainly brings out the emerging technological trends observed in the fields of computational Grid based flood assessment and forecasting models by surveying the flood forecasting model of `Cross Grid' as well as the operational flood model of ESA Grid. Details reflecting the technology trends and simulation methods adopted by the `GARUDA Grid' flood assessment experimental model have been given.

Heterogeneity could occur due to various reasons in a Hadoop cluster. This work primarily focuses on heterogeneity occurring due to varying read/write latency of disks. In case of similar disk latencies among the datanodes, balancing the blocks uniformly is a suitable choice. However, with time, the disk latencies can increase due to mechanical problems and bad sectors. Further, the disks which crash and become non-functional are replaced with newer disks which could be of newer generation and can have greater RPM. This leads to heterogeneity in terms of disk in the cluster which is otherwise homogeneous, and balancing uniformly according to disk utilization may not give optimal job runtime. To address this issue we propose a disk latency aware balancer, which balances the cluster taking both disk latency and disk space utilization into consideration. This strategy for balancing makes sure that a low latency disk gets higher number of blocks in comparison to high latency disk. Furthermore, we introduce a custom block placement strategy considering disk latency and other factors. Our preliminary results show an improvement of upto 20% in job runtime.

English to Indian language machine translation poses the challenge of structural and morphological divergence. This paper describes English to Indian language statistical machine translation using pre-ordering and suffix separation. The pre-ordering uses rules to transfer the structure of the source sentences prior to training and translation. This syntactic restructuring helps statistical machine translation to tackle the structural divergence and hence better translation quality. The suffix separation is used to tackle the morphological divergence between English and highly agglutinative Indian languages. We demonstrate that the use of pre-ordering and suffix separation helps in improving the quality of English to Indian Language machine translation. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. We present a computationally efficient method for deriving the most appropriate transformation and mapping of a nested loop for a given hierarchical parallel machine. This method is in the context of our systematic and general theory of unimodular loop transformations for the problem of iteration space partitioning [7]. Finding an optimal mapping or an optimal associated unimodular transformation is NP-complete. We present a polynomial time method for obtaining a 'good' transformation using a simple parameterized model of the hierarchical machine. We outline a systematic methodology for obtaining the most appropriate mapping. © 1992 ACM.

Being an indicator of economic growth, the deployment of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) became an imperative necessity of a country, whether developed or developing. Emergence of innovative technologies in the areas of Computer Science, ICT and Digital Image Processing paved way to the implementation and the deployment of such a system in a cost effective and economic manner. Introduction of a system with minimal disturbance of the heterogeneous environment with minimum cost and time in R&D and deployment will be an important criteria in the selection of such a system for a developing country. The intelligent Transportation System can be considered to be constituted with multiple layers of integrated innovative technologies. The recent advancements in third and fourth generation wireless data communication as one of the access technologies and the deployment of high-speed secure information highway established with a national level computer backbone network in developing countries made the deployment of such a system in an efficient manner which form the physical layer of ITS. The technological layer of ITS can be formed with IP based Sophisticated intelligent Camera technologies and with the application of intelligent algorithms on advanced digital image processing techniques, which can be implemented in a multi-layer architecture and deployed in multiple stages, which will make the system robust and will be making the environment gradually standardised, without much disturbances. The standardised vehicle licence plate is the raw data of ITS, which may or may not be standardised in developing countries. The introduction of the concept of a repository of non-standardised licence plates left after the application of layered advanced digital image processing algorithms injected in ITS will enable the gradual standardisation of the environment. The complexity of both parallel architectures and parallel applications poses several problems for the development of performance analysis and optimization tools. In this paper, we describe the motivations and the main aspects of the design of the Dynamic Probe Class Library (DPCL), an object based C++ class library that provides an infrastructure to reduce the cost of writing instrumentation for performance tools. Additionally, we present some of the performance tools built on top of DPCL, which demonstrate the power and flexibility of the library. © 2001 IEEE.

In this VLSI era, integrated circuit designing has attained new trends. With the scaling technology the feature size have reached below 40nm in implementation. With such a huge component density over a small die heat dissipation analysis is important. There is a need to develop and monitor temperature for all the components over IC. The paper represents the design and simulation of FinFET based temperature sensor. The sensor is designed in Symica EDA tool using FinFET on 32nm feature and uses 1.2 volts as a supply voltage. This circuit is used for sensing the temperature and it has one PNP transistor and two FinFET and generates the complementary to absolute temperature (CTAT) voltage simulated over temperature range from -20°c to + 120°c.
