The authors propose the design of a library environment, called PARUL (PARallel User Library), for distributed memory multiprocessor systems. An important feature of the environment is that it allows the data distributed for use of a library function as well as the results generated by the function to be retained in the network of processors to be used by subsequent library functions. The user of the library is given full control over the set of variables that are retained in the network. The authors describe the implementation details of PARUL on a multi-transputer system (PARAM) and discuss its performance.< >

The parallel implementation of the revised simplex algorithm (RSA) using eta-factorization holds the promise of significant improvement in the execution time by virtue of the existence of a high degree of parallelism in the computation within an iteration of the algorithm. However, the scheme employed to partition key data structures in a distributed memory parallel processor has a great impact on the achievable performance. The paper explores the trade-offs between block-row and block-column partitioning schemes for the matrix of constraint coefficients vis-a-vis the communication overheads and granularity of parallel computations. The results of an approximate analysis of the compute-communication balance are compared with measurements from practical implementation of the partitioning schemes on C-DAC's PARAM 8000 distributed memory parallel processor.< >

This paper mainly highlights the technical challenges addressed while deploying an end user specific real time Geospatial collaborative system on the top of GARUDA Grid. The grid simulation results has been gathered in a automated mode from the computing clusters of the Grid and the results of equal time stamp have been merged by a centralized image processing unit which has been connected to a `Master Visualization Server'. Operations of the master visualization server gets synchronized with many regional remote `Proclient' systems and both together manages the real time collaborative events by disseminating the camera display of master scene as well as supporting the virtual visualization of proclient information between and across the Grid users locations. The system has been made operational as GARUDA Grid Real Time Collaborative System (GG-RT-CS) and same can be implemented on any computational Grid which supports regional scale Geospatial applications.

Web application performance plays vital role in application usability and adaptability to its intended users. There are many factors, which attributes towards overall performance enhancements. One of them is that how efficiently a web application under peak load stores or retrieves the web-attached documents. In this paper, we have described a document storage and retrieval technique for improving web application performance. A technique suggested for the document storage purpose is based on the verification of results performed with various types and sizes of document attachments. Applying the suggested technique has shown an overall performance improvement for applications with web attachments.

Conventional linear & nonlinear tools for classification, regression & data driven modeling are being replaced on a rapid scale by newer techniques & tools based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. While the linear techniques are not applicable for inherently nonlinear problems, newer methods serve as attractive alternatives for solving real life problems. Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers are a set of universal feed‐forward network based classification algorithms that have been formulated from statistical learning theory and structural risk minimization principle. Positional MEDLINE (PosMed) is a web application that quickly prioritises biomedical entities such as genes and diseases based on statistical signicance of associations between these and a user-specied keyword by employing our original search engine named General and Rapid Association Study Engine (GRASE). GRASE search is modelled as an extension of SPARQL search with statistical analysis, which enables searching over semantic data including not only linked datasets but also signicant extracted semantic links over multiple biomedical documents. PosMed was originally implemented for in silico positional cloning stud- ies by prioritizing genes. Further applications include bioresource search with associated genetic functions or ontologies, and functional interpreta- Tion of gene variants found from exome sequencing of personal genomes.
