This paper outlines the first Asian network-based speech-to-speech translation system developed by the Asian Speech Translation advanced Research (A-STAR) consortium. The system was designed to translate common spoken utterances of travel conversations from a certain source language into multiple target languages in order to facilitate multiparty travel conversations between people speaking different Asian languages. Each A-STAR member contributes one or more of the following spoken language technologies: automatic speech recognition, machine translation, and text-to-speech through Web servers. Currently, the system has successfully covered 9 languages-namely, 8 Asian languages (Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese) and additionally, the English language. The system's domain covers about 20,000 travel expressions, including proper nouns that are names of famous places or attractions in Asian countries. In this paper, we discuss the difficulties involved in connecting various different spoken language translation systems through Web servers. We also present speech-translation results on the first A-STAR demo experiments carried out in July 2009.

In this paper we present parallel implementations of some representative low level vision algorithms on a cluster of workstations. These include convolution operation and the image restoration algorithm using Markov random field models. The convolution operation has been parallelized using the Farmer-Worker paradigm, while the image restoration algorithm has been parallelized through the Master-Worker pattern. Parallel implementations of both these algorithms have shown promising results, where the observed speedups are reasonably close to the ideal speedups. The parallel convolution operation has shown good scalability with respect to the problem size and number of processors used in parallelization. The paper elaborates on different parallelization results of the convolution operation observed after varying the image size, mask size and processor load on individual workstations. The image restoration algorithm is communication intensive. However, as the computing time between successive communications at each worker process is relatively high, the actual speedups observed are very close to the ideal speedups in this algorithm. © 2008 IEEE.

Demands for more storage in the industry has increased beyond that the traditional storage mechanisms can supply and thus, the concept of Storage Area Networks (SANs) has evolved. This has resulted in the design of iSCSI (Internet SCSI) protocols that have SCSI commands and allow data transfer to take place over the network. Fiber channel protocol was the first such protocol that used Gigabit per second links to carry commands over long distances. The iSCSI Protocol maps the SCSI block oriented storage data over TCP/IP and enables storage devices to be accessed over standard Ethernet based TCP/IP networks, With the development of Gigabit Ethernet and the iSCSI protocol, reduction in costs and a uniform network infrastructure can be *** offers a flexible way to study the iSCSI – based storage systems. We wish to study a storage area network, which uses iSCSI Protocol to exchange data between its various nodes. This study will help us in understanding how iSCSI works in a storage area network. We have used ns2 for our simulation work. We have simulated an iSCSI initiator and an iSCSI target, which communicate through iSCSI. iSCSI lies upon TCP Protocol. R/W requests are made by the iSCSI initiator and data exchange takes place depending on these requests. The throughput is calculated and graph is plotted.

Delay testing is a technique to determine if a chip will function correctly at a specified frequency. If a chip passes delay tests, it will presumably function at the specified frequency in the field. This paper presents experimental results that show how chips can pass very thorough delay tests and still fail in the field. It is shown that some chips sometimes pass and sometimes fail when the same delay test is applied multiple times under the same test conditions. These chips are called inconsistent fails. This paper shows how tester timing edge placement accuracy can cause inconsistent fails and suggests the minimum requirements for guardbands that avoid the inconsistent test results.

This paper present modeling aspects for 4H-SiC Schottky diode using drift diffusion model. Drift diffusion model consists of the current continuity equations for electrons and holes, Poissonpsilas equation and the equations for electron and hole currents. Using this model physical surface trait, state of art of device has been extracted to understand the current condition of 4H-SiC Schottky barrier diode. In Schottky diodes current transport takes place by three mechanisms, diffusion of carriers from the semiconductor into the metal, thermionic emission of carriers across the Schottky barrier and quantum-mechanical tunneling through the barrier. For these three mechanisms current calculation using drift diffusion model has been done.

Humidity sensor can be defined as a device, which consists of plastic material whose characteristics change as per the amount of humidity present in the air. Its various application areas include controlling of the climate, storage of food articles, domestic applications etc. The reference paper implemented the humidity sensor uses post-CMOS processing of CMOS fabricated chips to obtain suspended and thermally isolated diodes. However, the paper does not include the read out circuit and the design of op-amp. Industry however always considers the design under PVT (process, voltage & temperature) variations to make it commercial. This paper aims in designing op-amp, which is used in the read out circuit of the CMOS humidity sensor based on PVT variation (process, voltage and temperature variation). The design issues for switch capacitor used in the humidity sensor are also described. The thermal design equations for the sensor diode model have also been considered and presented.

In the existing methods of binarization,most edge information is lost and the resulted binary image gets *** carry most of the information in an ***,some techniques for the preservation of edge information in images are proposed and *** are based on the filtering operation by some newly developed edge preserving filters followed by thresholding *** resulted image is a binary image having most of the edges making the binary image more *** proposed method gives better binary image compared to popular method of Otsu's binarization in most of the images.

Mobile ad hoc network is a collection of mobile hosts' which can communicate with each other using wireless interfaces and can also dynamically form a network topology where each node can act as router to forwarding the packets to other nodes. These networks are in high demand due to the ease and speed in selling up such networks. Due to the inherent vulnerabilities of wireless medium and node mobility make such network highly susceptible to malicious attacks. Things are getting worst when some nodes getting hijacked or compromised and make this network to stop from the smooth workings. This paper proposes the host based intrusion detection architecture to identify lite malicious node and provide security support to continue the smooth workings of this network.

The paper studies on computing pattern of traffic information dissemination via Internet.
