TSCompiler: efficient compilation framework for dynamic-shape models

Today's deep learning models face an increasing demand to handle dynamic shape tensors and computation whose shape information remains unknown at compile time and varies in a nearly infinite range at runtime. This shape dynamism brings tremendous challenges for existing compilation pipelines designed for static models which optimize tensor programs relying on exact shape values. This paper presents TSCompiler, an end-to-end compilation framework for dynamic shape models. TSCompiler first proposes a symbolic shape propagation algorithm to recover symbolic shape information at compile time to enable subsequent optimizations. TSCompiler then partitions the shape-annotated computation graph into multiple subgraphs and fine-tunes the backbone operators from the subgraph within a hardware-aligned search space to find a collection of high-performance schedules. TSCompiler can propagate the explored backbone schedule to other fusion groups within the same subgraph to generate a set of parameterized tensor programs for fused cases based on dependence analysis. At runtime, TSCompiler utilizes an occupancy-targeted cost model to select from pre-compiled tensor programs for varied tensor shapes. Extensive evaluations show that TSCompiler can achieve state-of-the-art speedups for dynamic shape models. For example, we can improve kernel efficiency by up to 3.97× on NVIDIA RTX3090, and 10.30× on NVIDIA A100 and achieve up to five orders of magnitude speedups on end-to-end latency.

Solving dynamic optimization problems using parent–child multi-swarm clustered memory (PCSCM) algorithm

The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm faces several inherent challenges when applied to dynamic and large-scale optimization problems. These challenges encompass the issues of outdated particle memory, inadequate scalability in high-dimensional search spaces, the incapability to detect environmental changes, a continual trade-off between exploration and exploitation, and the potential loss of population diversity within the problem space. To address these challenges, we propose a novel hybrid PSO algorithm, denoted as Parent–Child Multi-Swarm Clustered Memory (PCSCM). PCSCM is explicitly designed to leverage an enhanced memory system, capable of mitigating the issue of outdated particle memory after convergence, and efficiently adapting to changing environmental conditions. This innovative memory system retains and retrieves promising solutions from the past when environmental alterations occur. Additionally, PCSCM introduces clustering mechanisms for particles within each swarm, aimed at augmenting diversity within the problem space. This clustering strategy substantially bolsters the algorithm’s performance in tracking evolving optimal solutions and positively contributes to its scalability. Crucially, the clustering approach is implemented not only for the main population but also for stored solutions in memory, which collectively strike a balance between exploration and exploitation. In the proposed method, particle swarms are divided into parent and child swarms, with parent swarms dedicated to preserving diversity;while, child swarms focus on identifying local solutions. These clustering and memory strategies are consistently applied within each sub-swarm to effectively address the challenges posed by high-dimensional search spaces. Adversarial Geometric Attacks for 3D Point Cloud Object Tracking

3D point cloud object tracking (3D PCOT) plays a vital role in applications such as autonomous driving and robotics. Adversarial attacks offer a promising approach to enhance the robustness and security of tracking models. However, existing adversarial attack methods for 3D PCOT seldom leverage the geometric structure of point clouds and often overlook the transferability of attack strategies. To address these limitations, this paper proposes an adversarial geometric attack method tailored for 3D PCOT, which includes a point perturbation attack module (non-isometric transformation) and a rotation attack module (isometric transformation). First, we introduce a curvature-aware point perturbation attack module that enhances local transformations by applying normal perturbations to critical points identified through geometric features such as curvature and entropy. Second, we design a Thompson sampling-based rotation attack module that applies subtle global rotations to the point cloud, introducing tracking errors while maintaining imperceptibility. Additionally, we design a fused loss function to iteratively optimize the point cloud within the search region, generating adversarially perturbed samples. The proposed method is evaluated on multiple 3D PCOT models and validated through black-box tracking experiments on benchmarks. For P2B, white-box attacks on KITTI reduce the success rate from 53.3% to 29.6% and precision from 68.4% to 37.1%. On NuScenes, the success rate drops from 39.0% to 27.6%, and precision from 39.9 to 26.8%. Black-box attacks show a transferability, with BAT showing a maximum 47.0% drop in success rate and 47.2% in precision on KITTI, and a maximum 22.5% and 27.0% on NuScenes. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

In this article, a new coupled-inductors based three-level bipolar buck-boost ac-ac converter is proposed. The proposed converter can produce highly efficient and symmetric in-phase and antiphase buck and boost modes of operation with much lower component voltage and current stresses. This reduces the operation and design complexity, and helps to achieve a high-efficiency operation. The high-frequency modulating switches of the proposed converter are implemented with coupled-inductor-based dual-buck phase leg, producing three-level input and output voltages, and providing inherent protection from voltage-source short-circuit issue during switch transitions. The other salient features of the proposed converter are no-commutation issue, no need for RC snubbers or dedicated safe-commutation algorithms, provision of high-quality and continuous input/output currents, and support for nonresistive loads. An in-depth circuit analysis of the proposed converter is provided based on the proposed switch modulation strategies. The guidelines for component design/selection are discussed, followed by the comparisons with state-of-the-art three-level ac-ac converters. Finally, practical circuit verifications are performed on a laboratory-assembled prototype. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Robust WiFi Sensing-Based Human Pose Estimation Using Denoising Autoencoder and CNN With Dynamic Subcarrier Attention

WiFi sensing-based human pose estimation (HPE) has gained significant attention in the academic community due to its advantages over vision- and sensor-based methods, including nonintrusiveness, convenience, and enhanced privacy protection. However, most existing WiFi-based pose Estimators suffer from poor performance and lack robustness in the presence of random noise. To address these challenges, this article presents a novel HPE architecture comprising two key modules: 1) a Denoiser and 2) an Estimator. The Denoiser is based on an autoencoder structure, while the Estimator is based on a new convolutional neural network (CNN) called SDy-CNN, which is designed to dynamically focus on high-information subcarriers of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals. Additionally, Bayesian optimization is employed to fine-tune the architecture’s parameters for optimal performance flexibly. Experiments conducted on a comprehensive dataset, MM-Fi, demonstrate that the proposed architecture significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art Estimators, achieving up to an 8.38% improvement in HPE accuracy in clean data scenarios and up to a 14% improvement in noisy data scenarios. It has also been proven to gain computational efficiency when being much faster than other methods. © 2014 IEEE.

Mutual Retinex: Combining Transformer and CNN for Image Enhancement

Images captured in low-light or underwater environments are often accompanied by significant degradation, which can negatively impact the quality and performance of downstream tasks. While convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and Transformer architectures have made significant progress in computer vision tasks, there are few efforts to harmonize them into a more concise framework for enhancing such images. To this end, this study proposes to aggregate the individual capability of self-attention (SA) and CNNs for accurate perturbation removal while preserving background contents. Based on this, we carry forward a Retinex-based framework, dubbed as Mutual Retinex, where a two-branch structure is designed to characterize the specific knowledge of reflectance and illumination components while removing the perturbation. To maximize its potential, Mutual Retinex is equipped with a new mutual learning mechanism, involving an elaborately designed mutual representation module (MRM). In MRM, the complementary information between reflectance and illumination components are encoded and used to refine each other. Through the complementary learning via the mutual representation, the enhanced results generated by our model exhibit superior color consistency and naturalness. Extensive experiments have shown the significant superiority of our mutual learning based method over thirteen competitors on the low-light task and ten methods on the underwater image enhancement task. In particular, our proposed Mutual Retinex respectively surpasses the state-of-the-art method MIRNet-v2 by 0.90 dB and 2.46 dB in PSNR on the LOL 1000 and FIVEK datasets, while with only 19.8% model parameters. © 2017 IEEE.
