Microwave susceptibility analysis of ultrafast moment dynamics in a multicore magnetic nanoparticle system

Room-temperature magnetization dynamics of multicore magnetic nanoparticles often account for intrinsic dipolar magnetism to behave as a single macrospin at low-frequency regime. Either magnetic particle imaging or hyperthermia benefits from the resulting superparamagnetism in terms of nonlinear magnetization response and relaxation losses at frequencies where the rotation of magnetic moments dominates over Brownian motion for a given sinusoidal field. For this situation, spontaneous thermal relaxation (in the absence of external fields) of each composing particle moment within the cluster is critical to define effective Néel time constant and may intersect with ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) at GHz range. Here, we performed broadband AC susceptometry on both immobilized single-core and multicore iron-oxide nanoparticles up to 26.5GHz under DC bias fields. For each solid sample, we confirmed FMR frequency, where large single-core nanoparticle systems demonstrated typical resonance blueshift as DC field increased. Interestingly, high DC field induced the secondary satellite peak in the imaginary part of AC susceptibility spectra for the case of multicore nanoparticle systems. We further highlighted that a synchronous precession of the polarized macrospins under nonuniform effective fields was responsible for splitting FMR peaks at nearby microwave frequencies. Upon curve fitting of the field-dependent FMR frequency spectra, the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert-Kittel model later elaborates on the complex moment dynamics of multicore nanoparticle systems in correlation with distribution functions.

Drawing Order Diagrams Through Two-Dimension Extension

Ordinal real-world data such as concept hierarchies, ontologies, genealogies, or task dependencies in scheduling often has the property to not only contain pairwise comparable, but also incomparable elements. Order diagrams provide an important tool for understanding and thus discovering knowledge in such data. Easily readable drawings of such order diagrams are hard to come by, even for small ordered sets. Many attempts were made to transfer classical graph drawing approaches to order diagrams. Although these methods produce satisfying results for some ordered sets, they unfortunately perform poorly in general. In this work, we present the novel algorithm DimDraw to decompose an ordered set (e.g., a concept hierarchy) in linear orders and to produce a corresponding order diagram. This algorithm is based on a relation between the dimension of an ordered set and the bipartiteness of its transitive incompatibility graph. To evaluate the quality of the algorithm, a user study was conducted where generated drawings were compared with ones from state-of-the-art drawing algorithms. © 2023 Brown University. Nonlinear optics plays an important role in many areas of science and *** advance of nonlinear optics is empowered by the discovery and utilization of materials with growing optical *** we demonstrate an indium gallium phosphide(InGaP)integrated photonics platform for broadband,ultra-efficient second-order nonlinear *** InGaP nanophotonic waveguide enables second-harmonic generation with a normalized efficiency of 128,000%/W/cm^(2)at 1.55μm pump wavelength,nearly two orders of magnitude higher than the state of the art in the telecommunication C ***,we realize an ultra-bright,broadband time-energy entangled photon source with a pair generation rate of 97 GHz/mW and a bandwidth of 115 nm centered at the telecommunication C *** InGaP entangled photon source shows high coincidence-to-accidental counts ratio CAR>10^(4)and two-photon interference visibility>98%.The InGaP second-order nonlinear photonics platform will have wide-ranging implications for non-classical light generation,optical signal processing,and quantum networking.

As artificial intelligence and big data become increasingly prevalent,resistive random-access memory(RRAM)has become one of the most promising alternatives for storing massive amounts of *** this study,we employed high-quality crystalline TiN/Al2O3/BaTiO3/Pt RRAM with an optimized thin Al2O3 in-terlayer around 12 nm thick prepared using atomic layer deposition since the thickness of the inter-layer affects the memory window *** insertion of the Al2O3 interlayer,the novel RRAM exhibited outstanding uniform resistive switching voltage and the ON/OFF memory window drastically increased from 10 to 103 without any discernible decline in ***,the low-resistance state and high-resistance state operating current values decreased by almost one order and three orders of magni-tude,respectively,thereby decreasing the power consumption for the RESET and SET processes by more than three and almost one order of magnitude,*** device also exhibits multilevel resistive switching behavior when varying the applied ***,we also developed a 6 × 6 crossbar array which demonstrated consistent and reliable resistive switching behavior with minimal ***,our approach holds great promise for producing state-of-the-art non-volatile resistive switching devices.

A novel deep learning approach for automated grading of knee osteoarthritis severity

Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent musculoskeletal disorder that affects the knee joint that causes pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. It is also known as "Degenerative Joint Disease" and is caused by the degeneration of cartilage in the knee joint, leading to bone-on-bone contact and further damage. Knee OA is prevalent in the population, affecting around 22% to 39% of people in India, and there is currently no treatment available that can halt the progression of the disease. Therefore, early diagnosis and management of symptoms are essential to reduce its impact on an individual’s quality of life. To address this issue, have introduced a framework that leverages ConvNeXt architecture, a modernization of ResNets (ResNet-50) architecture towards Hierarchical Transformers (Swin Transformers), to provide accurate identification and classification of knee osteoarthritis. The classification of knee osteoarthritis was done using the Kellgren and Lawrence (KL) graded X-ray images. These images of the damaged knees are preprocessed and augmented, creating a scaled, enhanced, and varied version of the features, thus making the data fitter and more significant for classification. The performance estimation of the proposed strategy is conducted on the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI), a research project focused on knee osteoarthritis that works in partnership with NIH and other private industries to develop a public domain dataset that can facilitate research and evaluation. It involves training the prepared data using various hyper-tuned versions of ConvNeXt. The different fine-tuned results of the ConvNeXt models on each KL Grade are evaluated against the other state-of-the-art models and vision transformers. The comparative assessment of widely used performance measures shows that the proposed approach outperforms the conventional models by generating the highest score for all the KL grades. Dual-buck (DB) structured ac-ac converters are becoming advanced due to their inherent protection from open- and short-circuit risks, and elimination of commutation issue. However, the existing DB ac-ac converters provide restricted bipolar voltage operations with a large semiconductor device count and underutilized inductors. This article proposed a new reduced switch DB ac-ac converter without commutation issue. The propose converter provides multiple buck-boost voltage operations with noninverting and inverting outputs, making it a flexible topology for various ac voltage applications. The propose converter exhibits the continuous input and output currents irrespective of operation mode, and performs well with nonunity power factor loads. The positive and negative voltage gains of the proposed converter can address the grid voltage sag and swell issues, respectively, making it right candidate for application as dynamic voltage restorer. A detailed comparative evaluation is carried out with existing DB converters, which validated the effectiveness of the proposed converter, including;reduced semiconductor device count and their power ratings, reduced inductor sizes with improved magnetic utilization, enhanced voltage compensation ranges, and better efficiency. A laboratory scale hardware prototype of the proposed converter is built and thoroughly tested to validate its operation. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Colored Petri nets (CPNs) provide descriptions of the concurrent behaviors for software and hardware. Model checking based on CPNs is an effective method to simulate and verify the concurrent behavior in system design. However, the model-checking method traverses the full state space, which suffers from the state-space explosion problem. A reduced state-space generation method related to the property of concurrent systems is proposed. Specifically, we extend CPNs to define a property-related model (CPN-PR) and give a property-related analysis method whose results can be used to generate the CPN-PR model. A reduced state-space generation method is developed based on enabled binding element filtering rules. The stutter trace equivalence between the state spaces of CPN and CPN-PR has been proven by showing that the reduced state space may not change the model-checking result. A comparison experiment is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 1982-2012 IEEE.
