In this paper a novel unsupervised classification method for electrocardiogram (ECG) signal classification is presented. The proposed approach classifies the input signal into normal and abnormal heartbeat patterns with a relatively high accuracy. After extracting features from the time-voltage waves in ECG signals, we utilize a computationally fast algorithm based on log likelihood strategy for change detection on selected features. We then combine the outputs based on their validation coefficient. The Algorithm could differentiate between the normal and unknown heart features. Experimental results show the accuracy of the proposed approach in terms of reliability and performance. © 2014 SERSC.

Dynamic task scheduling modeling in unstructured heterogeneous multiprocessor systems

An algorithm is proposed for scheduling dependent tasks in time-varying heterogeneous multiprocessor systems, in which computational power and links between processors are allowed to change over time. Link contention is considered in the multiprocessor scheduling problem. A linear switching-state space-modeling paradigm is introduced to enable theoretical analysis from a system engineering perspective. Theoretical analysis of this model shows its robustness against changes in processing power and link failure. The proposed algorithm uses a fuzzy decision-making procedure to handle changes in the multiprocessor system. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by several random experiments and comparison against a recent benchmark approach. The results show up to 18% average improvement in makespan, especially for larger scale systems.

Recently, the variety of devices and robots are available for recovering and rehabilitating human disorder patients. In this paper, simple and effective control method utilized for position-impedance control. This method consists of two parts, namely position control in free space and fuzzy impedance control in contact. First, kinematics and dynamics of general 6UPS are discussed. Then SimMechanics software is employed to validate dynamics equations. Next an impedance filter is developed. The gains of this filter are adjusted by fuzzy logic method to achieve the reference force. In order to reproduce jaw motions and apply the impedance control, the workspace of human jaw is needed. To obtain this workspace, three male subjects (age range 24-28 years) were selected. Results show that the fuzzy impedance control is suitable to control of masticatory robots.

Repeatability is one of the most important features of an industrial robot. It is a key feature stated by commercial robot manufacturers. Details of repeatability calculation method for industrial robots is presented by ISO 9283. However, the well-known robot manufactures do not state how they calculate their repeatability. In this paper, the industrial FUM SCARA robot, designed by the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Iran, is used and its repeatability is measured according to the ISO 9283 method. Planetary reducers are applied as a part of the power transmission system. Although planetary reducers have pre-defined backlash, experimental results show satisfactory repeatability for the FUM SCARA. An ideal and intelligible mathematical model of backlash is developed to show the low effect of backlash in the repeatability calculation. Consequently, it is shown that the result of ideal backlash model corresponds with the experimental result.

Force and torque sensors' various applicabilities have raised great interest among scientists for decades. The optimal combination of design variables is a difficult task as it is affected by several input parameters. This paper presents an investigation on the effect of thickness, width and length of elastic cross-beams of the six-axis force sensor on the cross coupling interference. The finite element analysis is carried out for full factorial design experiments and the signal to noise ratio as well as analysis of variance is calculated and discussed.

Making decisions plays an important role in human life. At any stage of our life we make decisions about what to do, how to do, necessities and un-necessities. Game Theory has an important role in decision issues such as economy and management. Selecting effective strategies in decisions is the base for being successful in the games. The player formulates his decisions using uncertain information in hand. We use fuzzy numbers for determining the profit rate because of un-certainty in real cases. In this article zero-sum 2-player games in fuzzy environments are investigated. In order to research the existence of Pareto Nash equilibrium strategy in fuzzy matrix games, we use the concept of crisp parametric bi-matrix games. By solving these two parameter matrix games we reach (weak) Pareto Nash equilibrium in fuzzy matrix games. In this article we use a-cuts for comparison fuzzy payoffs of the players in decision trees and determine the Nash equilibrium points by min-max strategy. For affecting the rate of risk of people on game decisions, we can decrease or increase the risk with different levels of a. We can also determine optimum risk with POSS (Pareto Optimal Security Strategy) by selecting the value of a. © 2014 IEEE.

Design and evaluation of a pressure and temperature monitoring system for pressure ulcer prevention

Introduction: Pressure ulcers are tissue damages resulting from blood flow restriction, which occurs when the tissue is exposed to high pressure for a long period of time. These painful sores are common in patients and elderly, who spend extended periods of time in bed or wheelchair. In this study, a continuous pressure and temperature monitoring system was developed for pressure ulcer prevention. Materials and Methods: The monitoring system consists of 64 pressure and 64 temperature sensors on a 40×50 cm2 sheet. Pressure and temperature data and the corresponding maps were displayed on a computer in real-time. Risk assessment could be performed by monitoring and recording absolute pressure and temperature values, as well as deviations over time. Furthermore, a posture detection procedure was proposed for sitting posture identification. information about the patient's movement history may help caregivers make informed decisions about the patient's repositioning and ulcer prevention strategies. Results: Steady temporal behaviour of the designed system and repeatability of the measurements were evaluated using several particular tests. The results illustrated that the system could be utilized for continuous monitoring of interface pressure and temperature for pressure ulcer prevention. Furthermore, the proposed method for detecting sitting posture was verified using a statistical analysis. Conclusion: A continuous time pressure and temperature monitoring system was presented in this study. This system may be suited for pressure ulcer prevention given its feasibility for simultaneous monitoring of pressure and temperature and alarming options. Furthermore, a method for detecting different sitting postures was proposed and verified. Pressure ulcers in wheelchair-bound patients may be prevented using this sitting posture detection method.

Rule-based classification with Neural Networks has high acceptance ability for noisy data, high accuracy and is preferable in data mining. In this paper, we use Fuzzy Min-Max (FMM) Neural Network. Nevertheless the - Curse of Dimensionality - problem also exists in this classifier. As a possible solution, in this paper the modified GA is adopted to minimize the number of features in the extracted rules. 'Guided Elitism' strategy is used to create elitism in the population, based on information extracted from good individuals of previous generations. The main advantage of this data structure is that it maintains partial information of good solutions, which may otherwise be lost in the selection process. Five well-known benchmark problems are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed GEGA system;Results shows comparatively high accuracy and generally lower computational time. © 2014 IEEE.

If difficulty level of a game does not match player's skills, the game could be frustrating or disappointing. In this paper we propose a self-organizing system (SOS) to adjust difficulty level of games. For this purpose, we use Artificial Neural Network and Interactive Evolutionary Algorithms to evolve Non-Player Characters (NPCs), and focus on player's hidden responses to determine fitness of the system. Results show that the proposed interactive SOS can adapt itself with different level of skills.
