Although the generation and application of software clones is relatively unexplored, it is believed that this is a fundamental technology that can have many different applications within a softwareengineering environment. For example, software clones could be used in software fault tolerance. Clearly, for these clones to be usable, their production needs to be automated. An interesting approach to this automatic production or generation problem is the application of evolutionary-based genetic programming (GP). Using the paradigms of best fit, selection, crossover and mutation a number of clones, satisfying specific requirements, can be automatically generated. In general, GP is a flexible and powerful algorithm suitable for solving variety of different problems. The paper presents the results of studies that have been conducted in order to answer questions related to feasibility of using GP for clone generation: what features of GP are important? What works and what does not? How GP can be "tuned" for the problem? The results have been used to draw a set of suggestions and conclusions that indicate possible usability of GP-based approach to automatic generation of clones.

In this paper, a new joint channel estimation and detection algorithm for frequency selective fading multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels is proposed. In the channel estimation section, using a generalized form of least square (LS) algorithm, a very accurate estimate of channel parameters is obtained. The procedure of detection is done in two stages. In the first stage the inter-symbol-interference (ISI) of previous stages is subtracted and then in the second stage, using a joint detection algorithm, the transmitted symbols are estimated. Parallel-interference-cancellator (PIC) and minimum-mean-square-estimator (MMSE) are used as MIMO detectors. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm, in time-varying MIMO channels is confirmed through various simulations.

In this paper, an efficient method for multiuser detection of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) signals is proposed which provides soft output with remained noise distribution close to Gaussian. Therefore the proposed algorithm is efficient for both coded and uncoded signals. This algorithm is simulated for BPSK signals with random spreading. The performance of the receiver is analyzed in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) of each user for under load, full load and overload conditions. Simulation results show that performance of the proposed algorithm is very close to optimum receiver for both coded and uncoded user signals, moreover, it also outperforms the previous proposed algorithms.

Most industrial computing systems are real-time systems where rigid time constraints must be met. Great attention should therefore be given to the design of real-time operating system (RTOS) because its malfunction may result in a disaster both to business and human life. Current RTOS's are target-machine and application specific. This paper develops a new architecture of RTOS's, RTOS+, which is generic and portable to different platforms. We adopt real-time process algebra (RTPA) to specify and describe RTOS+, particularly its architecture and dynamic behaviours. On the basis of the formal specification, architecture, behaviours, and correctness of RTOS+ can be guaranteed. The core operations of RTOS+, such as task scheduling, time, event and resource management can be rigorously described for better real-time performance and improved resource utilization.

In this paper by using a controller based on a neural network and an estimator, an efficient method in A/F ratio for SI engines is presented. This combined method improves plant performance effectively and provides robustness against disturbances due to work point changing. It is shown that by combining two separate methods, a useful control strategy may be generated. Simulation results reveal the superiority of this method.
