A hierarchical framework for distributed resilient control of islanded AC microgrids under false data injection attacks

In this paper, we propose a control scheme to ensure the microgrid control layers are resilient to cyberattacks. The studied microgrid consists of several distributed generation (DG) units and we consider the hierarchical control structure that is common for microgrids. The use of communication channels among DGs has made microgrids more vulnerable and this is where cybersecurity issues arise. In this work we added three algorithms, reputation-based, Weighted Mean Subsequence Reduced (W-MSR) and Resilient Consensus Algorithm with Trusted Nodes (RCA-T), to the secondary control layer of the microgrid and made them resilient to false data injection (FDI) attacks. In reputation-based control, some procedures are used for detecting the attacked DGs and isolating them from the others. W-MSR and RCA-T are Mean Subsequence Reduced (MSR)-based algorithms that fade the effect of attacks without finding them. These algorithms use a simple strategy that ignores some extreme values of neighboring agents, so an attacker can simply get ignored. Our analysis of the reputation-based algorithm is based on scrambling matrices, so the communication graph can switch in a prescribed set. In each of the above cases, to evaluate the performance of the designed controllers, in addition to theoretical analysis, we evaluated and compared the controllers using simulation. © 2023 ISA

One of the most important goals of theoretical ecologists is to find a strategy for controlling the chaos in ecological models to maintain healthy ecosystems. We investigate the influence of fear and the supply of additional food to predators in a delayed tri-trophic food chain model, where interference among the species is determined by Holling type-II functional response. The proposed model incorporates the fact that the growth rates of prey and middle predators are decreased due to the fear of middle and special predators, respectively. The additional food is supplied to both predators by either nature or external agencies. Furthermore, the poisoned prey in the predator's environment is taken into account. In the proposed model, we use two time delays: one for the growth term of the middle predator and another for the gestation delay of the special predator. We determine the conditions for the existence of ecologically feasible equilibrium points and their local and global stability. In addition, we establish the conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation around interior equilibrium to seek periodic behavior in nondelayed and delayed models. Numerical investigations are performed to justify the proposed theoretical findings through phase portraits, time series of solutions, and bifurcation diagrams. We observe that the chaotic dynamics of a tri-trophic food chain model can be controlled by the proper choice of the fear effect and by supplying additional food parameters. As a result, our findings provide more ecological insights into the dynamics of the delayed tri-trophic food chain model with the fear effect and additional food supply. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Recently, a reference derived some new higher-order output tracking properties for direct model reference adaptive control（MRAC） of linear time-invariant（LTI） systems: limt→∞ e（i）（t） = 0, i = 1,..., n*-1, where n*and e（i）（t） denote the relative degree of the system and the i-th derivative of the output tracking error, respectively. However, a naturally arising question involves whether indirect adaptive control（including indirect MRAC and indirect adaptive pole placement control） of LTI systems still has higher-order tracking properties. Such properties have not been reported in the literature. Therefore, this paper provides an affirmative answer to this question. Such higher-order tracking properties are new discoveries since they hold without any additional design conditions and, in particular, without the persistent excitation condition. Given the higher-order properties, a new adaptive control system is developed with stronger tracking features.（1） It can track a reference signal with any order derivatives being unknown.（2） It has higher-order exponential or practical output tracking properties.（3） Finally, it is different from the usual MRAC system, whose reference signal's derivatives up to the n*order are assumed to be known. Finally, two simulation examples are provided to verify the theoretical results obtained in this paper.

High power conversion efficiency(PCE)flexible perovskite solar cells(FPSCs)are highly desired power sources for aerospace crafts and flexible ***,their PCEs still lag far behind their rigid ***,we report a high PCE FPSC by controllable growth of a SnO_(2)electron transport layer through constant pH chemical bath deposition(CBD).The application of SnSO_(4)as tin source enables us to perform CBD without strong acid,which in turn makes it applicable to acid-sensitive flexible indium tin ***,a mild and controllable growth environment leads to uniform particle growth and dense SnO_(2)deposition with full coverage and reproducibility,resulting in a record PCE of up to 25.09%(certified 24.90%)for FPSCs to *** as-fabricated FPSCs exhibited high durability,maintaining over 90% of their initial PCE after 10000 bending cycles.

Electric vehicles (EVs) have experienced an unprecedented increase in their penetration;in well developed countries;due to the advancement of battery technology and the need to make transportation more environmentally friendly. As a result of this trend, EVs have become an integral part of those countries power grid ecosystem, where they may be used as both a source, and a consumer of energy. However, cybersecurity risks associated with large fleets of EVs within the power grids can significantly impact the normal operation of distribution systems. This paper considers the cyber-attack consequences, from attackers' perspective. The cyber attackers under study target the charging price (CP) by increasing the CP in off-peak hours and accordingly subsiding it in on-peak hours. A two-stage optimization framework is proposed to identify the most important ultra-fast charging stations (XFCs) under the cyber-attack, meanwhile, the EV users' response to the compromised CP is considered. Then, the proposed model is implemented on a modified IEEE 123-bus distribution test system, and the effectiveness of the model is proved through some case studies. In particular, they demonstrated that the amount of load shedding is increased by 8.198 MW when the EV user response is taken into account. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the design of supervisory model predictive control for HVAC systems and two zones. The supervisory control (SC) is designed to find the optimal reference temperature of each zone. The design criteria consist of the total operating cost (TOC) and the thermal comfort cost (TCC). Then, the model predictive control (MPC) is designed to track the optimal reference signals. When SC and MPC are designed for two zones simultaneously, they are referred to centralized SC and centralized MPC. On the other hand, when SC and MPC are designed for two zones separately, they referred to decentralized SC and decentralized MPC. We then compare the results between the decentralized control and the centralized control. The trade-off curve shows that the performance of centralized control is better than that of decentralized control. In particular, centralized MPC improves the performance in tracking reference signals. Furthermore, TOC of centralized control is lower than that of decentralized control. It can be concluded that the centralized control is appropriate for two zones in terms of the tracking of reference and the electrical charge. © 2023 ICROS.

Artificial intelligence systems are usually implemented either using machine learning or expert systems. Machine learning methods are usually more accurate and applicable to a broader range of applications. Expert systems, on the other hand, require much less data for training and generate more comprehensible results. These characteristics are typically desired in the fields of surgery and medicine because there isn't much data available. In order to give a machine's decisions a deeper level of semantics, it is also advantageous to incorporate a doctor's expertise into it. Furthermore, it is safer to understand the reasoning behind a machine's choices. In this paper, a Dempster-Shafer Theory (DST) based expert system is suggested for the task of surgical training skill assessment. An interval-based probabilistic feature analysis was applied to the data to assign values to the mass functions. Zhang's rule of combination was applied to handle the conflicting evidence in the prediction phase. The performance of the proposed method was compared to another DST classifier, SVM, and XGBoost. Our method outperforms SVM and other DST classifiers, but it is not as precise as XGBoost. By reducing the size of the dataset, the added benefit of using an expert system as opposed to a machine learning method was explored further. The performance of the suggested method is not adversely affected by the size of the dataset, whereas the XGBoost classifier is. © 2023 IEEE.

As aerial robots evolve to perform complex tasks such as manipulation and visual inspection, maintaining the pilot at the center of decision-making is critical for mission safety and leveraging human expertise. A key enabler of this collaboration is reliable video streaming between the robot and the operator. This paper presents a comparative analysis of four video streaming protocols RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol), RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol), SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), and ROSTCP (ROS Transport control Protocol) based on extensive field experiments. The evaluation focuses on CPU usage, network throughput, latency, streaming quality, and packet integrity across varying distances. Tools such as iperf, ping, GStreamer, and Wireshark were employed for detailed performance measurements. Results reveal significant differences: SRT and RTP deliver superior network stability and resilience to packet loss, while RTSP and ROSTCP show advantages in CPU efficiency. These findings provide actionable insights for optimizing video streaming in aerial robotics, emphasizing the trade-offs and advantages of each protocol in real-world scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.

This article addresses the load frequency control (LFC) problem of control-area-partitioned power networks. An equivalent generator with second-order turbine-governor dynamics is utilized to model each control area, and power flows establish nonlinear couplings between control areas. As a consequence of the integration of the proportional-integral (PI) controller and the nonlinear controller, a novel suitable sliding manifold for enhancing dynamic performance is first proposed. Then, a decentralized second-order sliding mode (SOSM) controller is designed for LFC in power networks, which regulates the frequency and sustains the net inter-area power flows at the predetermined values. The simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed control strategy. © 2023 IEEE.
