A Novel Predictive Model for Edge Computing Resource Scheduling Based on Deep Neural Network

Currently,applications accessing remote computing resources through cloud data centers is the main mode of operation,but this mode of operation greatly increases communication latency and reduces overall quality of service(QoS)and quality of experience(QoE).Edge computing technology extends cloud service functionality to the edge of the mobile network,closer to the task execution end,and can effectivelymitigate the communication latency ***,the massive and heterogeneous nature of servers in edge computing systems brings new challenges to task scheduling and resource management,and the booming development of artificial neural networks provides us withmore powerfulmethods to alleviate this ***,in this paper,we proposed a time series forecasting model incorporating Conv1D,LSTM and GRU for edge computing device resource scheduling,trained and tested the forecasting model using a small self-built dataset,and achieved competitive experimental results.

Accurate recognition of flight deck operations for carrier-based aircraft, based on operation trajectories, is critical for optimizing carrier-based aircraft performance. This recognition involves understanding short-term and long-term spatial collaborative relationships among support agents and positions from long spatial–temporal trajectories. While the existing methods excel at recognizing collaborative behaviors from short trajectories, they often struggle with long spatial–temporal trajectories. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a dynamic graph method to enhance flight deck operation recognition. First, spatial–temporal collaborative relationships are modeled as a dynamic graph. Second, a discretized and compressed method is proposed to assign values to the states of this dynamic graph. To extract features that represent diverse collaborative relationships among agents and account for the duration of these relationships, a biased random walk is then conducted. Subsequently, the Swin Transformer is employed to comprehend spatial–temporal collaborative relationships, and a fully connected layer is applied to deck operation recognition. Finally, to address the scarcity of real datasets, a simulation pipeline is introduced to generate deck operations in virtual flight deck scenarios. Experimental results on the simulation dataset demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method.

Reconfigurable intelligent Surface Direct Data Modulation With Adaptive Beam Steering Backscatter Communication

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has emerged as a promising technology for next-generation wireless communications due to its ability to manipulate electromagnetic (EM) waves. This work introduces a novel RIS direct modulation scheme based on the backscatter communication concept. In this work, the RIS acts as a sole information modulator. Unlike conventional RIS systems that relay incoming data-carrying waves, this work enables RIS to encode its own information into unmodulated waves without requiring any hardware modifications. We propose an adaptive algorithm that maximizes modulation order while meeting the quality of service (QoS) requirements by selecting appropriate constellation points to minimize error probability. The proposed scheme was validated through simulations and experiments using a passive 5.8 GHz RIS prototype. The validations demonstrate consistent performance in both distributed and co-located transmitter-receiver scenarios. These results highlight its feasibility as an alternative approach for RIS-assisted communications and contribute to further exploration of RIS-enabled symbiotic radio (SR) and over-the-air (OTA) modulation systems. © 2014 IEEE.

Job-shop scheduling is an important but difficult combinatorial optimization problem for low-volume and high-variety manufacturing, with solutions required to be obtained quickly at the beginning of each shift. In view of the increasing demand for customized products, problem sizes are growing. A promising direction is to take advantage of Machine Learning (ML). Direct learning to predict solutions for job-shop scheduling, however, suffers from major difficulties when problem scales are large. In this paper, a Deep Neural Network (DNN) is synergistically integrated within the decomposition and coordination framework of Surrogate Lagrangian Relaxation (SLR) to predict good-enough solutions for subproblems. Since a subproblem is associated with a single part, learning difficulties caused by large scales are overcome. Nevertheless, the learning still presents challenges. Because of the high-variety nature of parts, the DNN is desired to be able to generalize to solve all possible parts. To this end, our idea is to establish 'surrogate' part subproblems that are easier to learn, develop a DNN based on Pointer Network to learn to predict their solutions, and calculate the solutions of the original part subproblems based on the predictions. Moreover, a masking mechanism is developed such that all the predictions are feasible. Numerical results demonstrate that good-enough subproblem solutions are predicted in many iterations, and high-quality solutions of the overall problem are obtained in a computationally efficient manner. The performance of the method is further improved through continuous learning. Note to Practitioners - Scheduling is important for the planning and operation of job shops, and high-quality schedules need to be obtained quickly at the beginning of each shift. One of the most important goals of theoretical ecologists is to find a strategy for controlling the chaos in ecological models to maintain healthy ecosystems. We investigate the influence of fear and the supply of additional food to predators in a delayed tri-trophic food chain model, where interference among the species is determined by Holling type-II functional response. The proposed model incorporates the fact that the growth rates of prey and middle predators are decreased due to the fear of middle and special predators, respectively. The additional food is supplied to both predators by either nature or external agencies. Furthermore, the poisoned prey in the predator's environment is taken into account. In the proposed model, we use two time delays: one for the growth term of the middle predator and another for the gestation delay of the special predator. We determine the conditions for the existence of ecologically feasible equilibrium points and their local and global stability. In addition, we establish the conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation around interior equilibrium to seek periodic behavior in nondelayed and delayed models. Numerical investigations are performed to justify the proposed theoretical findings through phase portraits, time series of solutions, and bifurcation diagrams. We observe that the chaotic dynamics of a tri-trophic food chain model can be controlled by the proper choice of the fear effect and by supplying additional food parameters. As a result, our findings provide more ecological insights into the dynamics of the delayed tri-trophic food chain model with the fear effect and additional food supply. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Wide-bandgap power devices have enabled power supplies to increase in density while maintaining high efficiency. However, EMI issues remain one of the most challenging aspects when designing a power converter. These issues are often caused by parasitic near-field couplings which can degrade or bypass the attenuation of the EMI filter. This paper investigates how parasitic magnetic couplings impact the conducted noise of a high-frequency PFC converter using PCB-winding inductor. Analytical models are presented for both differential mode (DM) and common mode (CM) noise, including the effects of magnetic couplings between the PFC inductor and EMI filter. Then, three ferrite inductor core designs are evaluated to demonstrate how the core's geometry and permeability affect its leakage magnetic field. Choosing the optimal core design is shown to significantly reduce the magnetic field outside the PFC inductor, which reduces DM noise by more than 20 dB and reduces CM noise by 7 dB. © 2025 IEEE.

ViGT: proposal-free video grounding with a learnable token in the transformer

The video grounding(VG) task aims to locate the queried action or event in an untrimmed video based on rich linguistic descriptions. Existing proposal-free methods are trapped in the complex interaction between video and query, overemphasizing cross-modal feature fusion and feature correlation for VG. In this paper, we propose a novel boundary regression paradigm that performs regression token learning in a transformer. Particularly, we present a simple but effective proposal-free framework, namely video grounding transformer(ViGT), which predicts the temporal boundary using a learnable regression token rather than multi-modal or cross-modal features. In ViGT, the benefits of a learnable token are manifested as follows.(1) The token is unrelated to the video or the query and avoids data bias toward the original video and query.(2) The token simultaneously performs global context aggregation from video and query ***, we employed a sharing feature encoder to project both video and query into a joint feature space before performing cross-modal co-attention(i.e., video-to-query attention and query-to-video attention) to highlight discriminative features in each modality. Furthermore, we concatenated a learnable regression token [REG] with the video and query features as the input of a vision-language transformer. Finally, we utilized the token [REG] to predict the target moment and visual features to constrain the foreground and background probabilities at each timestamp. The proposed ViGT performed well on three public datasets:ANet-Captions, TACoS, and YouCookⅡ. Extensive ablation studies and qualitative analysis further validated the interpretability of ViGT.
