Good quality products or services are no longer adequate to guarantee the sustainability of a company in the present competitive business. Prior research has developed various innovation models with the hope to better understand the innovativeness of the company. Due to countless definitions, indicators, factors, parameter and approaches in the study of innovation, it is difficult to ensure which one will best suit the Malaysian-owned company innovativeness. This paper aims to provide a theoretical background to support the framework of the innovation value chain capability in Malaysian-owned Company. The theoretical framework was based on the literature reviews, expert interviews and focus group study. The framework will be used to predict and assess the innovation value chain capability in Malaysian-owned company.

Reliable forecasts of extreme but rare events, such as earthquakes, financial crashes, and epileptic seizures, would render interventions and precautions possible. Therefore, forecasting methods have been developed which intend to raise an alarm if an extreme event is about to occur. In order to statistically validate the performance of a prediction system, it must be compared to the performance of a random predictor, which raises alarms independent of the events. Such a random predictor can be obtained by bootstrapping or analytically. We propose an analytic statistical framework which, in contrast to conventional methods, allows for validating independently the sensitivity and specificity of a forecasting method. Moreover, our method accounts for the periods during which an event has to remain absent or occur after a respective forecast.

The paper is devoted to the problem of modeling demand for inventory management of slow-moving items in the case of reporting errors. It is proposed a generalization of the beta-binomial demand model that takes into account possible reporting errors in the learning sample. For the new model, there are developed identification and forecasting algorithms that provide consistent estimators of the model parameters and mean square optimal forecasts. The efficiency of the proposed approach is illustrated by an application example for slow-moving car parts.

High temperature plasmas have been created by irradiating Ar clusters with high intensity 60-fs laser pulses. Detailed spectroscopic analysis of spatially resolved, high resolution x-ray data near the Heα line of Ar is consistent with a two-temperature collisional-radiative model incorporating the effects of highly energetic electrons. The results of the spectral analysis are compared with a theoretical hydrodynamic model of cluster production, as well as interferometric data. The plasma parameters are notably uniform over one Rayleigh length (600 μm).

This book presents original papers reflecting topics featured at the international symposium entitled “Fusion of Mathematics and Biology” and organized by the editor of the book. The symposium, held in October 2020 at Osaka University in Japan, was the core event for the final year of the research project entitled “Establishing International Research Networks of mathematical Oncology.” The project had been carried out since April 2015 as part of the Core-to-Core Program of Japan Society for the Promotion of science (JSPS). In this book, the editor presents collaborative research from prestigious organizations in France, the UK, and the USA. By utilizing their individual strengths and realizing the fusion of life science and mathematicalscience, the project achieved a combination of mathematical analysis, verification by biomedical experiments, and statistical analysis of chemical databases.;Mathematics is sometimes regarded as a universal language. It is a valuable property that everyone can understand beyond the boundaries of culture, religion, and language. This unifying force of mathematics also applies to the various fields of science. mathematical oncology has two aspects, i.e., datascience and mathematicalmodeling, and definitely helps in the prediction and control of biological phenomena observed in cancer evolution.;The topics addressed in this book represent several methods of applying mathematicalmodeling to scientific problems in the natural sciences. Furthermore, novel reviews are included that may motivate many mathematicians to become interested in biological research.
