Moving objects’ trajectory data is becoming increasingly available with the omnipresent GPS-equipped devices, e.g., smart phones, smart watches, etc. Identification of similar trajectories is a fundamental requirement of many real-world applications, for instance, car pooling, road planning, epidemic contact tracing. There exist a number of studies focusing on trajectory similarity search, where given a query trajectory, similar trajectories are searched from a trajectory store. GPS devices generate trajectories as a continuous data stream, highlighting the critical need for real-time and continuous trajectory similarity search. Thus, given a trajectories stream ($S_{\Gamma}$) and a trajectory store (R), we propose a distributed, continuous and real-time similarity search between $S_{\Gamma}$ and R. The proposed method employs an index-based strategy to facilitate effective similarity search, with the added capability of execution in distributed environments to ensure scalable processing. A comprehensive empirical study is provided to demonstrate the efficiency and pruning capability of the proposed approach.

In Japan, a new concept of 'Station and Town Special Design’, an urban development that considers the station and the surrounding town block as a whole and revitalises the vitality of the town as a whole, is attracting attention. We hypothesised that people's movement behaviour in the area would become more active via this Station-Town Space Design project. We analysed the effects using movement direction entropy (MDE), which measures the diversity of people's movement directions. The results showed that MDE increased in the project area. Furthermore, MDE tended to be higher in the surroundings of stations. This suggests that the Station-Town Space Design stimulates people's movement behaviour in the station, station square, and surrounding area. These findings have significant implications for urban planners and developers, as they indicate that MDE can be a useful indicator for measuring the liveliness of a town, and that the Station-Town Space Design design can enhance the vitality of urban areas.

In recent years, blockchain technology has garnered considerable interest on account of its peer-to-peer, distributed consensus, and anonymity functionalities. A smart contract functions as a verifiable, self-executing, and self-validating computing layer. This study seeks to identify the key concepts and associated future research goals pertaining to smart contracts based on the blockchain. Smart contracts enable the implementation of programmable assets, including money, and the automation of business logic processes that were previously executed manually. In response to this disclosure, a comprehensive examination of smart contracts employing blockchain technology is undertaken. In this article, we propose an innovative and practical metamodel for ensuring the integrity of protocols within smart contracts facilitated by blockchain technology. This article begins with an explanation of smart contracts’ operational models, functionalities, and applications. Analysis of the results reveals that the utilisation of the model alleviates the workload associated with numerous measurements. It was determined that the mean response latency, computation time, and overhead were each 1.47, 1.19, and 3.04 s. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

When constructing renewable energy facilities, it is important to predict the amount of solar electricity generated precisely. To make these precise solar power output forecasts, varying weather patterns should be considered. In this study, the effectiveness of three well-known machine learning methods: K nearest neighbour, Random Forest, and support vector regression was examined and assessed. According to the obtained R2 values, Random Forest performed better compared to the other techniques with 98% on training data and 88.7% on testing data. This shows that when compared to SVR and KNN, the generalization of Random Forest is better when capturing the connection between the input and output data.

Background :Neurodegenerative diseases(NDs), including Alzheimer‘s disease,Parkinson‘s disease, and Huntington‘s disease, are complex and challenging due to their intricate pathophysiology and limited treatment options. Methods : This review systematically sourced articles related to neurodegenerative diseases, neurodegeneration, quercetin, and clinical studies from primary medical databases, including Scopus, PubMed, and Web of science. Results : Recent studies have included quercetin to impact the cellular and molecular pathways involved in neurodegeneration. Quercetin, a flavonoid abundant in vegetables and fruits, is gaining attention for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic properties. It regulates signaling pathways such as nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB), sirtuins, and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K/Akt). These pathways are essential for cellular survival, inflammation regulation, and apoptosis. Preclinical and clinical studies have shown that quercetin improves symptoms and pathology in neurodegenerative models, indicating promising outcomes. Conclusions : The study explores the potential of incorporating laboratory research into practical medical treatment, focusing on quercetin‘s neuroprotective effects on NDs and its optimal dosage.

Recently, mobile edge computing (MEC) has been considered as a promising solution to address the challenges arising from the growing computationally intensive applications and limited computation capability of mobile devices. Thus, the resource allocation is crucial for ensuring the system performance of MEC. Recent deep learning-based resource allocation (DLRA) methods achieve preferable performance in real-time. However, in practical scenarios, the number of users often changes, which leads to a decrease in the performance of DLRA methods. Thus, once the number of users changes, the traditional DLRA methods need to retrain their neural networks, which consumes a lot of computing resources. To address this issue, this paper proposes a continual learning-based resource allocation (CLRA) method to jointly optimize multiple resource including offloading decision, power control, time slot assignment and computation resource distribution in MEC system. Our CLRA method is able to avoid forgetting previous knowledge when the number of users in the MEC system changes by selecting a small number of the most representative samples from the past and relearning. Experimental results show that, our proposed CLRA method achieves a better performance than the traditional DLRA method in terms of the higher quality of service's (QoS's) satisfaction rate and the less energy consumption. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. In the field of cognitive healthcare Internet of Things (CH-IoT), there is a strong demand for reliable and minimally intrusive smart gadgets that consistently acquire, analyse, and obtain the confidential health details of the individual. In fact, CH-IoT is empowered with artificial intelligence (AI) to transmute a fewer operational inputs into actionable, intelligent actions through the digitization of medical healthcare data. However, these systems consume more network complexity, interaction, and overhead costs, while inducing a blend of susceptibility and confidentiality issues. In support of this complexity, these cognitive systems need centralised data collection and to be gathered and analysed, which affects scalability issues and adds fuel to privacy and security breaches. Even though it possesses greater intricacy in its potential application, a substantial factor is maintaining the private preservation of healthcare data against the growing attacks. Thus, this paper presents a distributed privacy-preserving, chaotic encryption-based framework that can be deployed for CH-IoT systems to safeguard sensitive data against message modification, denial of service (DoS), and man-in-the-middle attacks (MIM), guaranteeing privacy and data integrity. The proposed framework integrated the federated learning layered hybrid chaotic encryption strategies by investigating through examination the learning infrastructure of convolutional neural networks (CNN). In the examination, the complete framework was carried out in the Tensorflow Federated Learning Libraries (FLL), and numerous performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score, transmission efficiency, and overhead ratio were measured and contrasted with the various existing frameworks. For the intensive analysis, formal and informal security experiments were also conducted by NIST (National Institute of science and technology).
