This paper presents a study comparing GaAs solar cells with different structures grown by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE). The impacts of absorber type and junction position are individually analyzed regarding the solar cell performance. When using the same structures, the n-type absorber samples had enhanced open-circuit voltage (Voc) and radiative efficiency than the p-type absorber ones, indicating superior crystal quality of n-GaAs. Besides, when using the same type of absorber, front-junction (FJ) samples showed an all-around boosted performance than rear-junction (RJ) ones, refreshing our understanding of the role of RHJ structure. Based on these observations, a p-on-n FJ structure using an n-GaAs absorber is recommended for high-performance solar cells.

Terahertz (THz) has broad applications for imaging, spectroscopy, and high-data-rate communication. However, THz detection at room temperature remains a significant challenge. By model Hamiltonian including electron-phonon coupling and photon-electron interaction within dipole approximation, we demonstrate that atomic displacement A⃗(t) driven by THz field E⃗(t) can induce static nonlinear electronic polarization in semiconductors without spatial inversion symmetry by nonlinear optic effect (αijkEjEk), Raman effect (βijkAjEk), and nonlinear phononic effect (γijkAjAk). Our numerical calculations also reveals that nonlinear phononic effect dominates the change of static polarization in ferroelectric semiconductor BaTiO3 irradiated by THz field. This work presents a design principle for efficient THz detection at room temperature by monitoring the change of surface polarization induced by THz-driven lattice vibration.

Lithium Beam Emission Spectroscopy systems in the outer midplane and divertor Langmuir probe arrays embedded in the divertor target plates,are utilized to investigate the scrape-off layer(SOL)blob transition and its relation with divertor detachment on *** blob transition in the near SOL is observed during the density ramp-up *** the plasma density,normalized to the Greenwald density limit,exceeds a threshold of f_(GW)~0.5,the blob size and lifetime increases by 2–3 times,while the blob detection rate decreases by about 2 *** addition,a weak density shoulder is observed in the near SOL region at the same density *** analysis indicates that the divertor detachment is highly correlated with the blob transition,and the density threshold of blob transition is consistent with that of the access to the outer divertor *** potential physical mechanisms are *** results could be useful for the understanding of plasma-wall interaction issues in future devices that will operate under a detached divertor and high density conditions(over the blob transition threshold).

Electron transport layers(ETLs)are crucial for achieving efficient and stable planar perovskite solar cells(PSCs).Reports on versatile inorganic ETLs using a simple film fabrication method and applicability for both low-cost planar regular and inverted PSCs with excellent efficiencies(>22%)and high stability are very ***,we employ a novel inorganic ZnSe as ETL for both regular and inverted PSCs to improve the efficiency and stability using a simple thermal evaporation *** TiO_(2)-ZnSe-FAPbl_(3)heterojunction could be formed,resulting in an improved charge collection and a decreased carrier recombination further proved through theoretical *** optimized regular PSCs based on TiO_(2)/ZnSe have achieved 23.25%efficiency with negligible *** addition,the ZnSe ETL can also effectively replace the unstable bathocuproine(BCP)in inverted ***,the ZnSe-based inverted device realizes a champion efficiency of 22.54%.Moreover,the regular device comprising the TiO_(2)/ZnSe layers retains 92%of its initial PCE after 10:00 h under 1 Sun continuous illumination and the inverted device comprising the C_(60)/ZnSe layers maintains over 85%of its initial PCE at 85℃for 10:00 *** highlights one of the best results among universal ETLs in both regular and inverted perovskite photovoltaics.
