Aiming at the problem of inaccurate positioning accuracy of V-SLAM system caused by poor texture and blurred images generated by mobile robots during rapid movement and large angle rotation, an improved ORB feature extraction matching algorithm is proposed. Firstly, using the statistical form of information entropy to calculate the image features, image enhancement is used to highlight the feature information of poorly textured and blurred image blocks, improve the efficiency of feature point detection, and enhance the robustness of the system. In addition, to improve the accuracy of feature matching, the BEBLID descriptor is used instead of the BRIEF descriptor for feature description. Through experimental verification on the publicly available TUM data set, it was found that the improved algorithm has a higher matching accuracy than the ORB algorithm, and has a significant increase in algorithm time compared to the ORB algorithm. After trajectory calculation, the improved algorithm is more in line with the real trajectory in camera motion and has a good improvement in pose accuracy.

The deep convolution method based on MSDP signal imaging has been proven to be an effective means of monitoring the robot grinding process. This method has very high requirements on the quality of imaging and requires a lot of computing resources. This paper proposes an image self-contrastive learning network that can effectively extract fault information from low-pixel fuzzy images and achieve efficient and accurate condition monitoring. The network first calculates the correlation distance matrix between two identical modified symmetrized dot pattern (MSDP) images and uses the generated similarity labels to calculate the contrast loss to extract the embedded features of the image. Finally, the classification network is trained using the cross entropy loss to achieve the classification of fault images. The method was verified on a robotic grinding platform to significantly reduce the calculation time while maintaining the recognition accuracy, which provides reliable technical support for the real-time monitoring of the robotic grinding process.

The work describes a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor that measures the liquid level and refractive index (RI) simultaneously. The sensor is fabricated by a polymer optical fiber (POF) with a side-polished spiral structure. The POF is wound around a plastic rod with the same pitch and polished into a series of separated side-polished areas to form the sensor probe. Afterwards, the polished surfaces are coated with a gold layer to construct the SPR sensor. The proposed sensor can provide multi-point liquid-level measurement besides RI sensing. The influences of structural parameters such as the bending radius, polishing depth, and pitch on the sensing performance are experimentally studied. The experimental results indicate that the RI could be determined by employing the SPR wavelength shift, and the RI sensitivity of 1862 nm/RIU within the 1.34–1.40 range is obtained. Moreover, the SPR peak’s depth variation can be utilized to monitor the liquid level, and the sensor can provide adjustable resolution and a measurement range for liquid level sensing. With its simple fabrication, low cost, and flexible sensing ability, this sensor probe is suitable for the usage in biochemical applications.
