Quantum computation and optimization have recently garnered considerable attention, with a noticeable focus on their floating-point and arithmetic designs. In classical computing, numerical optimization problems are commonly employed to assess the performance of optimization algorithms before their application to real-world issues. Nevertheless, precision issues impact the performance analysis of these algorithms, and neglecting these predictable exceptions can lead to unforeseen consequences. Therefore, this study systematically organizes potential precision issues related to how the floating-point storage format impacts optimization. These issues cause the optimal solution to deviate from the theoretical value, introducing imprecision or multiple optimal values, which in turn affects the usability of optimization algorithms, the direction of the search, and the assessment of convergence levels. These analyses offer valuable insights into the practical behavior of optimization algorithms when applied to function optimization problems, aiding researchers in accurately assessing and enhancing algorithm performance. Moreover, these findings contribute to the advancement of both classical and quantum computation. © 2007-2011 IEEE.

Sharing the hardware platform between diverse information systems to establish full cooperation among different functionalities has attracted substantial ***,broadband multifunctional integrated systems with large operating frequency ranges are challenging due to the bandwidth and computing speed restrictions of electronic ***,we report an analog parallel processor(APP)based on the silicon photonic platform that directly discretizes and parallelizes the broadband signal in the analog *** APP first discretizes the signal with the optical frequency comb and then adopts optical dynamic phase interference to reassign the analog signal into 2N parallel *** photonic analog parallelism,data rate and data volume in each sequence are simultaneously compressed,which mitigates the requirement on each parallel computing ***,the fusion of the outputs from each computing core is equivalent to directly processing broadband *** the proof-of-concept experiment,two-channel analog parallel processing of broadband radar signals and high-speed communication signals is implemented on the single photonic integrated *** bandwidth of broadband radar signal is 6 GHz and the range resolution of 2.69 cm is *** wireless communication rate of 8 Gbit/s is also *** the bandwidth and speed limitations of the single-computing core along with further exploring the multichannel potential of this architecture,we anticipate that the proposed APP will accelerate the development of powerful optoelectronic processors as critical support for applications such as satellite networks and intelligent driving.

The micro-morphology and molecular stacking play a key role in determining the charge transport process and nonradiative energy loss, thus impacting the performances of organic solar cells(OSCs). To address this issue, a non-fullerene acceptor PhC6-IC-F with alkylbenzene side-chain, possessing optimized molecular stacking, complementary absorption spectra and forming a cascade energy level alignment in the PM6:BTP-eC9 blend, is introduced as guest acceptor to improve efficiency of ternary OSCs. The bulky phenyl in the side-chain can regulate crystallinity and optimizing phase separation between receptors in ternary blend films, resulting in the optimal phase separations in the ternary films. As a result, high efficiencies of 18.33% as photovoltaic layer are obtained for PhC6-IC-F-based ternary devices with excellent fill factor(FF) of 78.92%. Impressively, the ternary system produces a significantly improved open circuit voltage(V_(oc)) of 0.857 V compared with the binary device,contributing to the reduced density of trap states and suppressed non-radiative recombination result in lower energy loss. This work demonstrates an effective approach for adjusting the aggregation, molecular packing and fine phase separation morphology to increase V_(oc) and FF, paving the way toward high-efficiency OSCs.

Solving dynamic optimization problems using parent–child multi-swarm clustered memory (PCSCM) algorithm

The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm faces several inherent challenges when applied to dynamic and large-scale optimization problems. These challenges encompass the issues of outdated particle memory, inadequate scalability in high-dimensional search spaces, the incapability to detect environmental changes, a continual trade-off between exploration and exploitation, and the potential loss of population diversity within the problem space. To address these challenges, we propose a novel hybrid PSO algorithm, denoted as Parent–Child Multi-Swarm Clustered Memory (PCSCM). PCSCM is explicitly designed to leverage an enhanced memory system, capable of mitigating the issue of outdated particle memory after convergence, and efficiently adapting to changing environmental conditions. This innovative memory system retains and retrieves promising solutions from the past when environmental alterations occur. Additionally, PCSCM introduces clustering mechanisms for particles within each swarm, aimed at augmenting diversity within the problem space. This clustering strategy substantially bolsters the algorithm’s performance in tracking evolving optimal solutions and positively contributes to its scalability. Crucially, the clustering approach is implemented not only for the main population but also for stored solutions in memory, which collectively strike a balance between exploration and exploitation. In the proposed method, particle swarms are divided into parent and child swarms, with parent swarms dedicated to preserving diversity;while, child swarms focus on identifying local solutions. These clustering and memory strategies are consistently applied within each sub-swarm to effectively address the challenges posed by high-dimensional search spaces. Visible light communication (VLC) has emerged as a cutting-edge high-speed communication technology, poised to meet the surging capacity demands of 6G networks. Micro-light-emitting diodes (μLEDs) are considered as the light sources for achieving high-speed VLC, distinguished by their remarkable modulation bandwidths. However, achieving broadband white light emission hinges on the utilization of color-conversion materials with wide emission spectra. The transmission speed of the white-light system is inherently constrained by the characteristics of these color-conversion materials. In this work, we demonstrate CC-MP7 and CC-MP8, two derivatives of phenothiazine/dimesitylborane, as color conversion materials in a semipolar (20-21) micro-LED-based white-light system for high-speed VLC. The color conversion layers possess wide emission spectra, enabling them to achieve excellent color rendering performance when combined with blue micro-LEDs. CCMP7 and CC-MP8 demonstrate rapid photoluminescence decay characteristics, thereby enhancing the modulation bandwidth of the color-conversion layer in the white-light system. The resulting bandwidths achieved by CC-MP7 and CC-MP8 are 210 and 240 MHz, respectively, which represents an approximately 45-fold increase compared to ordinary phosphors. By combining semipolar (20-21) micro-LEDs with CC-MP7 and CC-MP8, the resulting white-light systems exhibit correlated color temperatures of 6860 and 7500 K, CIE coordinates of (0.3009, 0.3577) and (0.2958, 0.3129), and color-rendering indexes of 80 and 85, respectively. Furthermore, both systems offer high bandwidths of 1063 and 1084 MHz with the data rates of 1.72 Gbps and 1.74 Gbps using non-return-to-zero on-off keying (NRZ-OOK) format, respectively, indicating the significant potential of CC-MP7 and CC-MP8 for practical applications in VLC. © 2024 The Authors.

In this article, a new coupled-inductors based three-level bipolar buck-boost ac-ac converter is proposed. The proposed converter can produce highly efficient and symmetric in-phase and antiphase buck and boost modes of operation with much lower component voltage and current stresses. This reduces the operation and design complexity, and helps to achieve a high-efficiency operation. The high-frequency modulating switches of the proposed converter are implemented with coupled-inductor-based dual-buck phase leg, producing three-level input and output voltages, and providing inherent protection from voltage-source short-circuit issue during switch transitions. The other salient features of the proposed converter are no-commutation issue, no need for RC snubbers or dedicated safe-commutation algorithms, provision of high-quality and continuous input/output currents, and support for nonresistive loads. An in-depth circuit analysis of the proposed converter is provided based on the proposed switch modulation strategies. The guidelines for component design/selection are discussed, followed by the comparisons with state-of-the-art three-level ac-ac converters. Finally, practical circuit verifications are performed on a laboratory-assembled prototype. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

This paper concerns ultimately bounded output-feedback control problems for networked systems with unknown nonlinear dynamics. Sensor-to-observer signal transmission is facilitated over networks that has communication *** transmissions are carried out over an unreliable communication channel. In order to enhance the utilization rate of measurement data, a buffer-aided strategy is novelly employed to store historical measurements when communication networks are inaccessible. Using the neural network technique, a novel observer-based controller is introduced to address effects of signal transmission behaviors and unknown nonlinear *** the application of stochastic analysis and Lyapunov stability, a joint framework is constructed for analyzing resultant system performance under the introduced controller. Subsequently, existence conditions for the desired output-feedback controller are delineated. The required parameters for the observerbased controller are then determined by resolving some specific matrix inequalities. Finally, a simulation example is showcased to confirm method efficacy.

Green-hydrogen production is vital in mitigating carbon emissions and is being adopted *** its transition to a more diverse energy mix with a bigger share for renewable energy,United Arab Emirates(UAE)has committed to investing billions of dollars in the production of green *** study presents the results of the techno-economic assessment of a green-hydrogen-based commercial-building microgrid design in the *** microgrid has been designed based on the building load demand,green-hydrogen production potential utilizing solar photovoltaic(PV)energy and discrete stack reversible fuel cell electricity generation during non-PV *** the current market conditions and the hot humid climate of the UAE,a performance analysis is derived to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of this *** study aims at maximizing both the building microgrid’s independence from the main grid and its renewable *** results indicate that the designed system is capable of meeting three-quarters of its load demand independently from the main grid and is supported by a 78%renewable-energy *** economic analysis demonstrates a 3.117-$/kg levelized cost of hydrogen production and a 0.248-$/kWh levelized cost for storing hydrogen as ***,the levelized cost of system energy was found to be less than the current utility costs in the *** analysis shows the significant impact of the capital cost and discount rate on the levelized cost of hydrogen generation and storage.
