Modern house /recreational boats are trending across the globe to fulfill the tourist conveniences. The major energy source used for powering propulsion system and hotel loads is fossil fuels such as diesel/gasoline. Several studies endorse that the recreational boat industry is extremely harming the environment and ecology through intense carbon emissions, oil spillages etc. Numerous house boat electrification initiatives are trending across the globe with an aim to tackle the issues associated with fossil fuel burning up and energy efficiency. It is also observed that, as the houseboats are not allowed to travel at night; the fuel consumption during this period is limited to hotel load DG set only which makes it the most energy consuming section in houseboats. The paper proposes a comprehensive approach to implement a scalable fossil fuel free and battery powered distribution scheme for all hotel loads (loads other than propulsion) in recreational boats through imparting LVDC architecture with Solar PV backing.

Twitter is a vast store of textual data that can be helpful in determining disaster related crisis. In this research the aim is to implement a system that can acquire tweets from Twitter using the keyword `earthquake' and determine the disaster location soon after the disaster. For prefiltering the tweets, a statistical approach has been developed. For determining out of context tweets a fuzzy matching approach has been used. To further categorize those tweets as relevant and irrelevant, Multinomial Naïve Bayes classifier has been used. Relevant tweets were further analyzed to determine probable location of the disaster using a clustering-based approach. After obtaining the probable location of the disaster; it is then visualized on map.

Children initiates the usage of Internet during young age and spend more time online. Apart from the benefits like improved education, entertainment, news and gaming, Internet poses severe threats to the children online. Ensuring online safety is a global challenge. The purpose of this paper is to examine online social media responses and awareness posts on children online safety. In this relation, Twitter social media responses after freeing the accusers of children sexual harassment and Facebook pages of some prominent personalities in India for online safety are analyzed. The results reveal that though the people are angry and fearful, they believe judiciary and police system and expecting safety from the same. The analysis of Facebook posts depicts that the concerned authorities are active towards child online safety and providing awareness through their representatives. People demand legal actions against the perpetrators of the crime to punish them. The necessary actions should be taken for cyber-crime awareness information to reach all social media users.

While protecting a target network for detecting a potential network attack, based on attack signature scanning methodology, stateful inspection plays a vital role to detect protocol-based scanning of sessions thus reducing false positives. We propose an architecture which comprises of session table management scheme to perform stateful packet inspection in real-time network scenarios. The architecture uses efficient data structure to store session information and a methodology to retrieve and modify the protocol state information. The state table also considers flow-based information for more accurately extracting attack signature parameters and thus enhancing accuracy of signature-based detection. A parallel thread for scanning the session table and for dealing with expired sessions is also incorporated to avoid memory overflow scenarios and supports higher number of valid sessions in real-time networks. A methodology to communicate with deep packet inspection engine and terminate those TCP sessions for which attack is detected which is incorporated using multithreading approach. We demonstrate two major architectures to enhance the performance of DPI with stateful inspection enabled in it using multi-processing techniques to achieve parallel processing and the experimental results. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive learning rate algorithm for gradient descent method used in Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The proposed adaptive learning rate neural network algorithm makes use of an initial assigned learning rate and after a set of backpropagation rounds the learning rate gets revised to a learning rate which is equal to minimum learning rate plus average of minimum learning rate and maximum learning rate (these parameters are updated in each recursive calls). During the next recursive call of the algorithm, the revised learning rate is used, if the average total error decreases, or the previous learning rate is continued. This is done until the desired learning rate is achieved which results in optimal weight parameters with high classification accuracy. We have compared the proposed algorithms with existing heuristics approaches and found that the convergence rate is to be faster and the proposed algorithm returns the optimized weights with higher classification accuracy. We have also tested the effectiveness of the algorithm on spam email classification using multilayer neural networks and found that it performs better than the existing approach and less prone to overfitting problems. The proposed algorithm results in 99.12% accuracy for the email classification.

This paper presents three reverse converters one using Mixed Radix Conversion (MRC) and other two based on Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT) for three-moduli set {2n+1-1, 2n-1, 2n+k} which is an extension of a previously investigated three-moduli set {2n+1-1,\ 2n, 2n-1}. The proposed converters are compared with reverse converters for three-moduli sets reported in literature regarding hardware requirement and conversion time for obtaining desired dynamic range. © 2019 IEEE.

With the major development of sensor technologies and advancements of communication network infrastructures, there is a growing interest to add more intelligence in the e-health monitoring for facilitating an effective healthcare system. While IoT devices are capable of continuous health-parameter sensing and providing notifications to the user, an effective business process management (BPM) facilitates effective system integration and data processing workflow. This paper proposes an efficient framework for managing emergency situations (specifically, health-related) through the analysis of heterogeneous data sources. The proposed framework, named CLAWER (CLoud-Fog bAsed Workflow for Emergency seRvice) aims to bridge the gap between process management and data analytics by providing an automated workflow for personalized health-monitoring and efficient recommendation system. Here, the IoT devices are used for collecting the movement and health data. The smart phone can act as an edge device to acquire data with user movement information. The accumulated data is initially processed inside the fog device, and finally the analysis and recommendations are generated by the cloud. In this paper the indoor health-status of the users are analysed in small cell cloud enhanced eNode B, which is used as fog device. The generated recommendations are stored in the fog device to provide the recommendations to the users with low latency and in timely manner. The experimental analysis of CLAWER yields better precision and recall values than the existing methods.

An Ab initio study on effects of doping into Pt 13 cluster with Ag, Ir and Pd

It is well known that doping is an efficient tool to modify the properties of clusters. Here, the results of the ab initio calculations on the effects of substitutional doping of Ag, Ir, and Pd atoms on the atomic and electronic structure of Pt 13 cluster are reported. The plane wave method and spin-polarized Exchange-correlation function have been used to study the various low-lying isomers of Pt 13 and to identify the lowest energy structures of the doped clusters. Moreover, this work involves studying about different doping sites and different magnetization values, exclusively for each isomer. Doing this way, the stability of the atom cluster has been analyzed and that is based on the low energy of the isomers calculated by the total energy with spin-polarized, lowest values of HOMO-LUMO gap, and higher values of the binding energy of each atom in the Pt 13 cluster structure. The resulting lowest energy structures show that in the case of Pt 12 Ir, the lowest energy isomer changes compared to the Pt 12 Ag and Pt 12 Pd clusters. Further, Bader charge analysis has been performed for calculating the charge transfer between the dopant and the host cluster which shows a charge transfer from −1.37 to +0.74 e. The study also reports about the changes that had happened in the electronic structure and magnetic properties of the Pt 13 cluster due to the dopant. This work helps to understand about the energy changes that occur during magnetic moment variations on the atomic cluster, DoS, and about analyzing this energy changes while spinning the atoms.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a progressive, Neurodegenerative disease caused by the degeneration of dopamine neurons in the brain. The PD patients often fall and cause further damages to their physical conditions because of the abnormal gaits such as shuffling and festinating steps or freezing of gait. The objective behind creating a fall detection system is to provide an ambulatory gait analysis system for preventing the fall and thereby help PD patients, from further regression and physical injury due to fall. This system can also facilitate long term monitoring of motor abnormalities in PD patients during daily activities. Once the system detects abnormal gaits, auditory cues will be given to the PD patients and caregivers by their side and thus help patients prevent falls in their daily living. This paper specifies a Single Gyroscope with Standard Deviation Algorithm using data from single gyroscope attached to the shank of the body used for the detection and prevention of fall in PD patients. The sensor MPU6050 used in the system is a motion sensor having gyroscope and accelerometer with the advantages of being highly portable, low cost and wireless nature. © 2018 IEEE.

The Cascaded Finite-state Chunk Parsing for Hindi Language (CFC) is a deterministic bottom-up version based on an LR parser that employs a best-first search. It uses finite-state cascade as a sequence of strata. Each stratum is defined by a category and a set of regular-expression patterns for recognizing phrases. Phrases at one level are built on phrases at the previous level. The final chunk structure is a multi-level sequence to span the entire text as single parse tree. Our research is presented with a design, implementation steps and result analysis. Though, we present a case study for an Indian language i.e. Hindi, it is language independent approach and extendible for further scope. © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.
