It was found that the non-perturbative corrections calculated using Pythia with the Perugia 2011 tune did not include the effect of the underlying event. The affected correction factors were recomputed using the Pythia 6.427 generator. These corrections are applied as baseline to the NLO pQCD calculations and thus the central values of the theoretical predictions have changed by a few percent with the new corrections. This has a minor impact on the agreement between the data and the theoretical predictions. Figures 2 and 6 to 13, and all the tables have been updated with the new values. A few sentences in the discussion in sections 5.2 and 9 were altered or removed.

Analysis of sound field distribution is a data-intense and memory-intense application. To speed up calculation, an alternative solution is to implement the analysis algorithms by FPGA. This paper presents the related issues for FPGA based sound field analysis system from the point of view of hardware implementation. Compared with other algorithms, the OCTA-FDTD algorithm consumes 49 slices in FPGA, and the system updates 536.2 million elements per second. In system architecture, the system based on the parallel architecture benefits from fast computation since the sound pressures of all elements are obtained and updated at a clock cycle. But it consumes more hardware resources, and a small sound space is simulated by a FPGA chip. In contrast, the system based on the time-sharing architecture extends the simulated sound area by expense of computation speed since the sound pressures are calculated element by element.

Engineers play an important role in the society in sectors such as building, transportation, water and power because they are vital to the development of a nation. In Nigeria, the education of engineers is carried out at the institutions of higher education (primarily the Universities). The paper presents an insight into the education of engineers in Nigeria highlighting the use of a multi-disciplinary approach alongside a hands-on practical training done in collaboration with local industry. These two initiatives play a major role in ensuring the continued relevance of engineering graduates. The paper introduces the benefits and opportunities for enhancing engineering education in a developing country from major drivers such as the use of the internet, open-source tools and e-learning.

Duration and accuracy rate are important elements in recording clinical finding during doctor-patient encounter. This is to ensure high quality and accurate healthcare services could be delivered to the patients. Speech recognition is one of the approaches that would speed up the process of recording patient health records compared to text writing that is a typical way to capture medical data into computer system. The aims of this research is to develop speech recognition for capturing clinical finding using digital clinical terminology namely SNOMED-CT. The research also compares the time taken and accuracy rate between speech recognition and text writing. Twenty respondents had been selected to test the system and the outcome from the experiment showed that speech recognition application has faster time compared to text writing. However, data captured through speech recognition once translated to health records is always inaccurate. It was noted that the human factors such as accent and tone in speaking affect the translation of speech recognition into medical records.

Requirements are typically modelled in natural language, leading to inconsistencies, incompleteness and incorrectness due to inherent natural language ambiguities and lack of precise modelling rules. In previous work, we developed a technique and toolset to support extraction of requirements from English text and supporting semi-formal modelling and roundtrip refinement using Essential use cases, helping to mitigate some of these problems. In this paper we describe new work applying this human-centric approach to requirements engineering to the Malay language. We describe an extension of our original Essential Use Cases toolset to support requirements modelling in the Malay language essential interaction modelling, and results of a preliminary experiment to gauge our tool's effectiveness in supporting Malay natural language extraction and round-trip requirements refinement.

One of the most interested open issues in wireless sensor networks is life time issue. Because of energy limitation the sensors will die and the networks can not sens as a result increasing life time is very important. Researchers try to increasing life time with new methods and algorithms and they need obtain the life time of previous method with new method to comparisons and calculating the life time is need for comparing. In this paper we calculate the life time of the network base on delanuay triangulation routing in localized routing.

Deployed landmines lie hidden and active for years, a long time after the causative factors have ceased to exist. There are an estimated 50 to 60 million land mines buried in about 70 countries throughout the world. A UN estimate puts the number of people killed or maimed due to mine explosions to over 26000 per year. Detection of buried mines has assumed great importance during war and postwar situations, due to this. Acousto-ultrasonic Landmine Detector (ALMD) developed by Strategic Electronics Group of C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram, India, is a vehicle mountable acoustic land mine sweeping system for locating buried anti-personnel (APM) and anti-tank mines(ATM). It detects buried mines, both plastic and metal, under different soil conditions-wet or dry, using innovative Non-contact ultrasonic technology. ALMD discriminates mines from other buried objects through real time continuous Acoustic Resonance Imaging, and has a ground scan capability of 7000 sq cm per second. This paper explains the innovation, technology development and field trial results of the Acousto-ultrasonic Landmine Detector realized at CDAC, Thiruvananthapuram. © 2011 IEEE.

The Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud computing model has become a compelling computing solution with a proven ability to reduce costs and improve resource efficiency. Virtualization has a key role in supporting the IaaS model. However, virtualization also makes it a target for potent rootkits because of the loss of control problem over the hosted Virtual Machines (VMs). This makes traditional in-guest security solutions, relying on operating system kernel trustworthiness, no longer an effective solution to secure the virtual infrastructure of the IaaS model. In this paper, we explore briefly the security problem of the IaaS cloud computing model, and present CloudSec, a new virtualization-aware monitoring appliance that provides active, transparent and real-time security monitoring for hosted VMs in the IaaS model. CloudSec utilizes virtual machine introspection techniques to provide fine-grained inspection of VM's physical memory without installing any monitoring code inside the VM. It actively reconstructs and monitors the dynamically changing kernel data structures instances, as a prior step to enable providing protection for kernel data structures. We have implemented a proof-of-concept prototype using VMsafe libraries on a VMware ESX platform. We have evaluated the system monitoring accuracy and the performance overhead of CloudSec. © 2011 IEEE.
