Named Entity Recognition (NER) is one of the contents of Knowledge Extraction (KE) that transforms data into knowledge representation. However, Chinese NER faces the problem of lacking clear word boundaries that limit the effectiveness of the KE. Although the flat lattice Transformer (FLAT) framework, which converts lattice structure into a flat structure including a set of spans, can effectively improve this problem and obtain advanced results, there still exist the problems of insensitivity to entity importance weights and insufficient feature learning. This paper proposes a weighted flat lattice Transformer architecture for Chinese NER, namely WFLAT. The WFLAT first adds a weight matrix into self-attention calculation, which can obtain finer-grained partitioning of entities to improve experimental performance, and then adopts a multi-layer Transformer encoder with each layer using a multi-head self-attention mechanism. Extensive experimental results on benchmarks demonstrate that our proposed KE model can obtain state-of-the-art performance for the Chinese NER task.

Background: Improving the accessibility of screening diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from non-diabetic kidney disease (NDKD) are two major challenges in the field of diabetes care. We aimed to develop and validate an artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning system to detect DKD and isolated diabetic nephropathy from retinal fundus images. Methods: In this population-based study, we developed a retinal image-based AI-deep learning system, DeepDKD, pretrained using 734 084 retinal fundus images. First, for DKD detection, we used 486 312 retinal images from 121 578 participants in the Shanghai Integrated Diabetes Prevention and Care System for development and internal validation, and ten multi-ethnic datasets from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and the UK (65 406 participants) for external validation. Second, to differentiate isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD, we used 1068 retinal images from 267 participants for development and internal validation, and three multi-ethnic datasets from China, Malaysia, and the UK (244 participants) for external validation. Finally, we conducted two proof-of-concept studies: a prospective real-world study with 3 months' follow-up to evaluate the effectiveness of DeepDKD in screening DKD;and a longitudinal analysis of the effectiveness of DeepDKD in differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD on renal function changes with 4·6 years' follow-up. Findings: For detecting DKD, DeepDKD achieved an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0·842 (95% CI 0·838–0·846) on the internal validation dataset and AUCs of 0·791–0·826 across external validation datasets. For differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD, DeepDKD achieved an AUC of 0·906 (0·825–0·966) on the internal validation dataset and AUCs of 0·733–0·844 across external validation datasets. As medical insurance continues to grow in size, the losses caused by medical insurance fraud cannot be underestimated. Current data mining and predictive techniques have been applied to analyze and explore the health insurance fraud population. However, previous studies only provide summary results and do not show the details of comparative analysis during the visit, resulting in the inability of auditors to quickly identify anomalous behavior. In this paper, we propose a visual analytics system for interactive medical insurance fraud detection to support the exploration and interpretation of different access processes. We propose a weighted MinDL to improve the accuracy of visit pattern classification in the time-series modeling process, and design a data analysis model and visual analysis view based on medical insurance fraud characteristics to reveal and explore the characteristics of medical insurance fraud groups. We collaborate with related organizations to design and implement an interactive visualization for medical insurance fraud group detection using real Medicare data and expert interviews The system is effective and practical in detecting and analyzing medical insurance fraud syndicates. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Fuzzing is increasingly being utilized as a method to test the reliability of Deep Learning (DL) systems. In order to detect more errors in DL systems, exploring the internal logic of more DNNs has become the main objective of fuzzing. Despite advancements in the seed selection aspect of fuzzing, considerable opportunities still exist for improving testing efficiency. Current research has issues with the repeated consideration of neurons in the model that will be covered in the future by other seeds, leading to redundant seeds and lower testing efficiency. Additionally, there is a lack of a method to measure the potential of seeds to increase coverage, making it difficult to select the most worthy seeds for mutation in each iteration. We propose an uncovered neurons information based (UNIB) fuzzing method for DNN. UNIB uses clustering methods to organize the seed queue based on initial seed data, aiming to enhance the coverage rate improved in each iteration. It also integrates coverage information from the testing phase to identify the seeds with the greatest potential. The experimental results show that UNIB achieved a higher NC than the second-best method by 1.1% and 3% in LetNet-4 and LetNet-5, respectively. UNIB consistently required the fewest number of iterations to reach the same NC as other methods. For both LetNet-4 and LetNet-5, the adversarial test case sets generated by UNIB exhibited the highest diversity.

This study analyses the weekly scheduling challenge of health and medical information network service function chains to meet medical emergency categorization and grading needs. Emergency services are divided into four sorts by urgency and service area, with priorities and weights. The health and medical information network architecture, service model, and operation method are built accordingly. To reduce weighted completion time, a service function chain scheduling model is created. The function chain scheduling scheme is solved by matching game and Q -learning reinforcement learning algorithms for different issue scales. Finally, simulation studies demonstrate that this approach can accomplish graded medical emergency service, build health and medical information networks, and progress smart healthcare. © 2024 IEEE.

In the era of global digitalization, digital innovation hubs have become essential, as they function as transforming forces. In this paper, we provide an analysis of the Montenegrin Academic Digital Innovation Hub by applying multi-criteria qualitative evaluation over several criteria: process flow of fully digitized operations of the Hub (with aspects of the innovation life-cycle, ethics, and security), resource management, strategic goals, and feasibility. With the advancement of information technology in the recent decades, digital and online services have become essential components of everyday life in Europe. Montenegro is no different in this regard. However, as digital literacy in the country is still in a developing phase in comparison with most countries of the EU, a higher portion of its citizens may rely on assistive technical communication. In this paper, we provide a case study on the assistive technical communication of Montenegrin eServices. The work addresses the sectors of online banking, healthcare services, higher education, national administrative services, and utilities. Our findings highlight the diversity in terms of implemented assistive technical communication, and distinguish usage contexts on the level of adequacy. Yet as the functionalities of Montenegrin eServices are expected to gradually expand in the upcoming years, assistive technical communication must aim to handle the higher extents of service complexity. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern large-scale cloud platforms require live migration technique on Docker containers with stateful workload to support load balancing, host maintenance, and Quality of Service (QoS) improvement. Efficient and scalable Docker live migration is expected to guarantee the component-integrity (image, runtime, and management context) with negligible downtime. In this paper, we present a highly efficient live migration system called Sledge, which ensures the component-integrity by integrating both images and management context during runtime migration. The key insight is that the layered image can be leveraged to reduce the migration overhead, and appropriately selective migration of management context will effectively improve QoS with negligible downtime. To achieve good scalability, a lightweight container registry mechanism for end-to-end image migration is designed to avoid the redundant layers transmission. In addition, a dynamic context loading scheme is proposed to precisely load the management context into the running daemon, which can significantly reduce downtime. Experiments show that, compared with the state-of-the-art, Sledge reduces 57% of total migration time, 55% of image migration time, and 70% downtime.

On-edge multi-task transfer learning: Model and practice with data-driven task allocation

On edge devices, data scarcity occurs as a common problem where transfer learning serves as a widely-suggested remedy. Nevertheless, transfer learning imposes heavy computation burden to the resource-constrained edge devices. Existing task allocation works usually assume all submitted tasks are equally important, leading to inefficient resource allocation at a task level when directly applied in Multi-task Transfer Learning (MTL). To address these issues, we first reveal that it is crucial to measure the impact of tasks on overall decision performance improvement and quantify task importance. We then show that task allocation with task importance for MTL (TATIM) is a variant of NP-complete Knapsack problem, where the complicated computation to solve this problem needs to be conducted repeatedly under varying contexts. To solve TATIM with high computational efficiency, we propose a data-driven Cooperative Task Allocation (DCTA) approach. Finally, we evaluate the performance of DCTA by not only a trace-driven simulation, but also a new comprehensive real-world AIOps case study which bridges model and practice via a new architecture and main components design within AIOps system. Extensive experiments show that our DCTA reduces 3.24 times of processing time, and saves 48.4% energy consumption compared with the state-of-the-art when solving TATIM. Building upon the impressive success of CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining), recent pioneer works have proposed to adapt the powerful CLIP to video data, leading to efficient and effective video learners for open-vocabulary action recognition. Inspired by that humans perform actions in diverse environments, our work delves into an intriguing question: Can CLIP-based video learners effectively generalize to video domains they have not encountered during training? To answer this, we establish a CROSS-domain Open-Vocabulary Action recognition benchmark named XOV-Action, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of five state-of-the-art CLIP-based video learners under various types of domain gaps. The evaluation demonstrates that previous methods exhibit limited action recognition performance in unseen video domains, revealing potential challenges of the cross-domain open-vocabulary action recognition task. In this paper, we focus on one critical challenge of the task, namely scene bias, and accordingly contribute a novel scene-aware video-text alignment method. Our key idea is to distinguish video representations apart from scene-encoded text representations, aiming to learn scene-agnostic video representations for recognizing actions across domains.
