This study analyses the weekly scheduling challenge of health and medical information network service function chains to meet medical emergency categorization and grading needs. Emergency services are divided into four sorts by urgency and service area, with priorities and weights. The health and medical information network architecture, service model, and operation method are built accordingly. To reduce weighted completion time, a service function chain scheduling model is created. The function chain scheduling scheme is solved by matching game and Q -learning reinforcement learning algorithms for different issue scales. Finally, simulation studies demonstrate that this approach can accomplish graded medical emergency service, build health and medical information networks, and progress smart healthcare. © 2024 IEEE.

Autonomous Vehicle (AV) usage has become predominant in the rapidly evolving landscape of urban transportation. Integrating AVs and non-AVs in the existing traffic infrastructure has significantly increased the complexity of traffic patterns. This research work primes the enhanced Traffic Management System (e-TMS), a solution implemented to expedite Emergency Vehicle (EV) travel in the context of Connected AVs (CAVs) and ensured secured communication employing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) among the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) framework. When an EV is detected, the IoV system verifies the EV's signal using PKI, ensuring its authenticity and integrity by encrypting the communication between the EV and Road Side Units (RSUs). Further, the e-TMS activates the platooning process where CAVs in the EV's lane shift to the adjacent lanes and dynamically form platoons to create a dedicated lane for the EV. To further optimize the platooning process, an Adaptive Smart Leader Selection (ASLS) algorithm is employed to select a leader vehicle spontaneously among the AVs based on the proximity to the EV, communication reliability, and lane position. Radio Detection and Ranging devices aid this platooning process by providing distance and target velocity, which are needed to maintain the required distance between the AVs and ensure safe platoon formation. The e-TMS enhances EV response times and overall traffic flow efficiency and resulted in 27.8% increase in mean speed compared to the traditional methods. © 2014 IEEE.

Context: Mobile applications (mobile apps for short) have proven their usefulness in enhancing service provisioning across a multitude of domains that range from smart healthcare, to mobile commerce, and areas of context-sensitive computing. In smart healthcare context, mobile health (mHealth) apps - representing a specific genre of mobile apps that manage health-critical information - face some critical challenges relating to security and privacy of device and user data. In recent years, a number of empirically grounded, survey-based studies have been conducted to investigate secure development and usage of mHealth apps. However, such studies rely on self-reported behaviors documented via interviews or survey questions that lack a practical, i.e. action-based approach to monitor and synthesise users’ actions and behaviors in security critical scenarios. Objective and Method: Our objective was to conduct an empirical study - engaging participants with attack simulation scenarios and analyse their actions - for investigating the security awareness of mHealth app users via action-based research. To conduct the study, we simulated some common security attack scenarios in mHealth context and engaged a total of 105 app users (14 countries across 5 continents) to monitor their actions and analyse their behavior. We analysed users' data with statistical analysis including reliability and correlations tests, descriptive analysis, and qualitative data analysis (i.e., thematic analysis method) for the open-ended questions. Results: Our results indicate that whilst the minority of our participants perceived access permissions positively, the majority had negative views by indicating that such an app could violate or cost them to lose privacy. Users provide their consent, granting permissions, without a careful review of privacy policies that leads to undesired or malicious access to health critical data. Field-captured video facilitates detailed studies of spatio-temporal aspects of animal locomotion, decision-making and environmental interactions including predator-prey relationships and habitat utilisation. But even though data capture is cheap with mass-produced hardware, storage, processing and transmission overheads provide a hurdle to acquisition of high resolution video from field-situated edge computing devices. Efficient compression algorithms are therefore essential if monitoring is to be conducted on single-board computers in situations where such hurdles must be overcome. Animal motion tracking in the field has unique characteristics that necessitate the use of novel video compression techniques, which may be underexplored or unsuitable in other contexts. In this article, we therefore introduce a new motion analysis-based video compression algorithm specifically designed for camera traps. We implemented and tested this algorithm using a case study of insect-pollinator motion tracking on three popular edge computing platforms. The algorithm identifies and stores only image regions depicting motion relevant to pollination monitoring, reducing overall data size by an average of 87% across diverse test datasets. Our experiments demonstrate the algorithm’s capability to preserve critical information for insect behaviour analysis through both manual observation and automatic analysis of the compressed footage. The method presented in this paper enhances the applicability of low-powered computer vision edge devices to remote, in situ animal motion monitoring, and improves the efficiency of playback during behavioural analyses. We present a quantum circuit compiler that prepares an algorithm-specific graph state from quantum circuits described in high level languages, such as Cirq and Q#. The computation can then be implemented using a series of non-Pauli measurements on this graph state. By compiling the graph state directly instead of starting with a standard lattice cluster state and preparing it over the course of the computation, we are able to better understand the resource costs involved and eliminate wasteful Pauli measurements on the actual quantum device. Access to this algorithm-specific graph state also allows for optimisation over locally equivalent graph states to implement the same quantum circuit. The compiler presented here finds ready application in measurement based quantum computing, NISQ devices and logical level compilation for fault tolereant implementations. When faced with the challenge of now- and forecasting infectious diseases, multiple data sources and state-of-the-art models have to be considered. Automatic aggregation, processing, and publishing to relevant data sinks is paramount to achieving consistent, reproducible, and timely results given daily-reported data. To facilitate scientific collaboration and reproducibility of workflows, open and extensible architectures for compute pipelines are *** this research, we devise an architecture realizing the seamless management and processing of reproducible pipelines. Our case-study is a daily pipeline for nowcasting the state of SARS-CoV-2 in Germany based on public data and state-of-the-art models implemented in the simulation software MEmilio. The results of our pipeline are pushed to ESID (Epidemiological Scenarios for Infectious Diseases), a user interface to epidemiological *** realize the given pipeline, a workflow management system is required to ensure pipeline processing and secure access to multiple heterogeneous data storages. For this purpose, we based our work on an open-source workflow management system - Apache Airflow, which provides the orchestration, coordination and management of complex connected tasks. S3 is utilized as an intermediate data storage service for sharing data between workflow steps and persisting experiment output. We provide a comprehensive view on our work on automated, end-to-end and reproducible pipelines, with detailed commentary on use case, and its realization.

Simulating the dynamics of complex quantum systems is a central application of quantum devices. Here, we propose leveraging the power of measurements to simulate short-time quantum dynamics of physically prepared quantum states in classical post-processing using a truncated Taylor series approach. While limited to short simulation times, our hybrid quantum-classical method is equipped with rigorous error bounds. It is extendable to estimate low-order Taylor approximations of smooth, time-dependent functions of tractable linear combinations of measurable operators. These insights can be made use of in the context of Hamiltonian learning and device verification, short-time imaginary time evolution, or the application of intractable operations to sub-universal quantum simulators in classical post-processing. © 2024, CC BY.
