An object-oriented model is proposed, designed as a collection of layered components, for process-sensitive softwareengineering environments (PSEEs). In the model, three types of object (process objects, entity objects and service objects) are identified to abstract and reflect the behaviour in different aspects of a PSEE. An overview of object interaction patterns, which reflects and captures the relationships between these types of object, is presented. To support software development process distribution and concurrency effectively, we introduce the actor (concurrent object) concept into process objects and entity objects, which allows transparent message passing between objects without concern for location and synchronisation.< >

Computational collective intelligence (CCI) is most often understood as a subfield of artificial intelligence (AI) dealing with soft computing methods that enable group decisions to be made or knowledge to be processed among autonomous units acting in distributed environments. The needs for CCI techniques and tools have grown signi- cantly recently as many information systems work in distributed environments and use distributed resources. Web-based systems, social networks and multi-agent systems very often need these tools for working out consistent knowledge states, resolving conflicts and making decisions. Therefore, CCI is of great importance for today’s and future distributed systems. Methodological, theoretical and practical aspects of computational collective int- ligence, such as group decision making, collective action coordination, and knowledge integration, are considered as the form of intelligence that emerges from the collabo- tion and competition of many individuals (artificial and/or natural). The application of multiple computational intelligence technologies such as fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, neural systems, consensus theory, etc. , can support human and other collective intelligence and create new forms of CCI in natural and/or artificial s- tems.

Welcome to the proceedings of the 2008 IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel computing (NPC 2008) held in Shanghai, China. NPC has been a premier conference that has brought together researchers and pr- titioners from academia, industry and governments around the world to advance the theories and technologies of network and parallel computing. The goal of NPC is to establish an international forum for researchers and practitioners to present their - cellent ideas and experiences in all system fields of network and parallel computing. The main focus of NPC 2008 was on the most critical areas of network and parallel computing, network technologies, network applications, network and parallel archit- tures, and parallel and distributed software. In total, the conference received more than 140 papers from researchers and prac- tioners. Each paper was reviewed by at least two internationally renowned referees and selected based on its originality, significance, correctness, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Among the high-quality submissions, only 32 regular papers were accepted by the conferences. All of the selected conference papers are included in the conference proceedings. After the conference, some high-quality papers will be r- ommended to be published in the special issue of international journals. We were delighted to host three well-known international scholars offering the k- note speeches, Sajal K. Das from university Texas at Arlington USA, Matt Mutka from Michigan State university and David Hung-Chang Du from university of M- nesota university of Minnesota.

This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of seven international workshops held in conjunction with the 27th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2008, in Barcelona, Spain, in October 2008. The 42 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 108 submissions. Topics addressed by the workshops are conceptual modeling for life sciences applications (CMLSA 2008), evolution and change in data management (ECDM 2008), foundations and practices of UML (FP-UML 2008), modeling mobile applications and services (M2AS 2008), requirements, intentions and goals in conceptual modeling (RIGiM 2008), semantic and conceptual issues in geographic information systems (SeCoGIS 2008), and Web information systems modeling (WISM 2008).

Computational Intelligence is comparatively a new field but it has made a tremendous progress in virtually every discipline right from engineering, science, business, m- agement, aviation to healthcare. Computational intelligence already has a solid track-record of applications to healthcare, of which this book is a continuation. We would like to refer the reader to the excellent previous volumes in this series on computational intelligence in heal- care [1-3]. This book is aimed at providing the most recent advances and state of the art in the practical applications of computational intelligence paradigms in healthcare. It - cludes nineteen chapters on using various computational intelligence methods in healthcare such as intelligent agents and case-based reasoning. A number of fielded applications and case studies are presented. Highlighted are in particular novel c- putational approaches to the semantic management of health information such as in the Web 2.0, mobile agents such as in portable devices, learning agents capable of adapting to diverse clinical settings through case-based reasoning, and statistical - proaches in computational intelligence. This book is targeted towards scientists, application engineers, professors, health professionals, professors, and students. Background information on computational intelligence has been provided whenever necessary to facilitate the comprehension of a broad audience including healthcare practitioners.

Trajectory prediction is a crucial challenge in autonomous vehicle motion planning and decision-making techniques. However, existing methods face limitations in accurately capturing vehicle dynamics and interactions. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel approach to extracting vehicle velocity and acceleration, enabling the learning of vehicle dynamics and encoding them as auxiliary information. The VDI-LSTM model is designed, incorporating graph convolution and attention mechanisms to capture vehicle interactions using trajectory data and dynamic information. Specifically, a dynamics encoder is designed to capture the dynamic information, a dynamic graph is employed to represent vehicle interactions, and an attention mechanism is introduced to enhance the performance of LSTM and graph convolution. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our model, extensive experiments are conducted, including comparisons with several baselines and ablation studies on real-world highway datasets. Experimental results show that VDI-LSTM outperforms other baselines compared, which obtains a 3% improvement on the average RMSE indicator over the five prediction steps.
