Reversible data hiding scheme using prediction neural network and adaptive modulation mapping

Prediction error expansion (PEE) is an attractive approach for reversible data hiding (RDH). The key issue for PEE-based RDH is to improve the prediction accuracy and design a better modulation mapping. This paper proposes a novel prediction error modulation (PEM) scheme, which comprises a prediction neural network and a modulation mapping rule generation algorithm. We use the multi-scale feature extraction (MSFE) module and the residual dense networks (RDN) to construct the prediction neural network. In the proposed RDH scheme, the cover image is divided into two parts, the reference pixel set and the cover pixel set, based on the chessboard pattern. The prediction network serves to predict the values of the cover pixel set using the reference pixel set. An optimization model is set up to adaptively determine the optimal modulation mapping for data hiding based on the specific prediction-error histogram and payload constraint. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed prediction neural network and the optimized modulation mapping compared with related works. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Cancers have emerged as a significant concern due to their impact on public health and society. The examination and interpretation of tissue sections stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) play a crucial role in disease assessment, particularly in cases like gastric cancer. Microsatellite instability (MSI) is suggested to contribute to the carcinogenesis of specific gastrointestinal tumors. However, due to the nonspecific morphology observed in H&E-stained tissue sections, MSI determination often requires costly evaluations through various molecular studies and immunohistochemistry methods in specialized molecular pathology laboratories. Despite the high cost, international guidelines recommend MSI testing for gastrointestinal cancers. Thus, there is a pressing need for a new diagnostic modality with lower costs and widespread applicability for MSI detection. This study aims to detect MSI directly from H&E histology slides in gastric cancer, providing a cost-effective alternative. The performance of well-known deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and a proposed architecture are compared. Medical image datasets are typically smaller than benchmark datasets like ImageNet, necessitating the use of off-the-shelf DCNN architectures developed for large datasets through techniques such as transfer learning. Designing an architecture proportional to a custom dataset can be tedious and may not yield desirable results. In this work, we propose an automatic method to extract a lightweight and efficient architecture from a given heavy architecture (e.g., well-known off-the-shelf DCNNs) proportional to a specific dataset. To predict MSI instability, we extracted the MicroNet architecture from the Xception network using the proposed method and compared its performance with other well-known architectures. Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and its variants exhibit immense potential in tackling combinatorial optimization challenges. However, their practical realization confronts a dilemma: the requisite circuit depth for satisfactory performance is problem-specific and often exceeds the maximum capability of current quantum devices. To address this dilemma, here we first analyze the convergence behavior of QAOA, uncovering the origins of this dilemma and elucidating the intricate relationship between the employed mixer Hamiltonian, the specific problem at hand, and the permissible maximum circuit depth. Harnessing this understanding, we introduce the Mixer Generator Network (MG-Net), a unified deep learning framework adept at dynamically formulating optimal mixer Hamiltonians tailored to distinct tasks and circuit depths. Systematic simulations, encompassing Ising models and weighted Max-Cut instances with up to 64 qubits, substantiate our theoretical findings, highlighting MG-Net's superior performance in terms of both approximation ratio and efficiency. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. 3D Region-of-Interest (RoI) Captioning involves translating a model's understanding of specific objects within a complex 3D scene into descriptive captions. Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown great potential in this area. Existing methods capture the visual information from RoIs as input tokens for LLMs. However, this approach may not provide enough detailed information for LLMs to generate accurate region-specific captions. In this paper, we introduce Self-RoI, a Large Language Model with multi-modal self-perception capabilities for 3D RoI captioning. To ensure LLMs receive more precise and sufficient information, Self-RoI incorporates Implicit Textual Info. Perception to construct a multi-modal vision-language information. This module utilizes a simple mapping network to generate textual information about basic properties of RoI from vision-following response of LLMs. This textual information is then integrated with the RoI's visual representation to form a comprehensive multi-modal instruction for LLMs. Given the limited availability of 3D RoI-captioning data, we propose a two-stage training strategy to optimize Self-RoI efficiently. In the first stage, we align 3D RoI vision and caption representations. In the second stage, we focus on 3D RoI vision-caption interaction, using a disparate contrastive embedding module to improve the reliability of the implicit textual information and employing language modeling loss to ensure accurate caption generation. Our experiments demonstrate that Self-RoI significantly outperforms previous 3D RoI captioning models. Moreover, the Implicit Textual Info. Perception can be integrated into other multi-modal LLMs for performance enhancement. We will make our code available for further research. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

Heart disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Accurate and timely diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment and prevention. This research proposes a novel approach using a cascaded XGBoost model to improve the accuracy and efficiency of heart disease diagnosis. With gradient boosting, the cascaded XGBoost model effectively handles complex interactions within the dataset, leading to superior performance compared to traditional machine learning techniques like logistic regression, support vector machines, and decision trees. The proposed model was evaluated on a standard heart disease dataset, demonstrating significant improvements in terms of accuracy, precision, and recall. Furthermore, the model's ability to identify key factors contributing to heart disease provides valuable insights for clinical decision-making. This research highlights the potential of machine learning techniques, particularly cascaded XGBoost, in advancing the field of heart disease diagnosis and improving patient outcomes. © 2024 IEEE.

Network security is crucial to ensure the protection of information systems in an increasingly connected world, and network traffic attack detection is an important aspect of maintaining system integrity. This study addresses this by investigating the use of a powerful and flexible machine learning algorithm, namely Support Vector Machines (SVM), to detect network traffic attacks. As a result, SVM has been successfully applied in different domains like network security, etc. In this study, SVM is applied for normal and malicious network traffic classification, including several attack types like Denial-of-Service (DoS), User-to-Root (U2R), and Remote-to-Local (R2L) attacks. To this end, the KDD Cup 99 dataset is employed for training and testing the model. These metrics are then used to evaluate the performance of the SVM-based intrusion detection system. The results demonstrate that SVM is able to recognize a high level of accurateness on network data traffic attacks as well as it has performed well in a difficult attack trends. In this case, the F1-scores for the Linear and RBF did result in 96.65/99.24, respectively, indicating that SVM also proved to be an effective algorithm choice in this example. Finally, the study either propose new algorithms or improve existing algorithms for SVM and demonstrate their effectiveness in the area of network security. In conclusion, this study reinforces the importance of SVM as an effective instrument in the detection of attacks on network traffic and strengthening cyber defense capabilities. © 2024 IEEE.

Cloud-based infrastructures often leverage virtualization, but its implementation can be expensive. Traditional coding methods can lead to issues when transitioning code from one computing environment to another. In response, the container paradigm emerged to offer cost-effective and agile delivery. Containers differ from full machine virtualization by compactly encapsulating the entire software and its dependencies. Leveraging containers, developers can create more secure and efficient applications. Docker, a prominent containerization platform, facilitates the execution of docker images. The Docker Hub serves as a popular repository for various images. Given the importance of application security, especially in the face of threats like malware, ransomware, and data breaches, ensuring robust security is imperative. The paper investigates vulnerabilities within Docker containers and proposes defensive strategies to mitigate potential breaches. Beyond the text detection and recognition tasks in image text spotting, video text spotting presents an augmented challenge with the inclusion of tracking. While advanced end-to-end trainable methods have shown commendable performance, the pursuit of multi-task optimization may pose the risk of producing sub-optimal outcomes for individual tasks. In this paper, we identify a main bottleneck in the state-of-the-art video text spotter: the limited recognition capability. In response to this issue, we propose to efficiently turn an off-the-shelf query-based image text spotter into a specialist on video and present a simple baseline termed GoMatching, which focuses the training efforts on tracking while maintaining strong recognition performance. To adapt the image text spotter to video datasets, we add a rescoring head to rescore each detected instance's confidence via efficient tuning, leading to a better tracking candidate pool. Additionally, we design a long-short term matching module, termed LST-Matcher, to enhance the spotter's tracking capability by integrating both long- and short-term matching results via Transformer. Based on the above simple designs, GoMatching delivers new records on ICDAR15-video, DSText, BOVText, and our proposed novel test set with arbitrary-shaped text termed ArTVideo, which demonstrates GoMatching's capability to accommodate general, dense, small, arbitrary-shaped, Chinese and English text scenarios while saving considerable training budgets. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. The goal of this research is to integrate an artificial intelligence framework for predicting Kathakali mudras, a crucial component of the traditional Indian dance style that is renowned for its complex hand and facial motions. Our goal is to protect and improve the accessibility of this traditional art form by utilising deep learning technology. To be more precise, we used the object identification model YOLOv8 together with convolutional neural networks (CNNs) like VGG 19, Inception V3, and ResNet 152 to predict and analyse Kathakali mudras. Furthermore, Few-shot learning (FSL) and support vector machines (SVMs) were used to offer a comparative viewpoint on the efficacy of machine learning method in this situation. The study entailed a thorough analysis of how well-performing different deep learning techniques performed. The predictive accuracy of VGG 19, Inception V3, and ResNet 152 for intricate mudras of Kathakali was subjected to a thorough evaluation process. In addition, an evaluation of YOLOv8's real-time object identification capabilities was conducted in order to investigate its potential in live performance circumstances. The results of the experiment showed that VGG 19 performed better than the other models and had the highest accuracy in mudra prediction. As a result, VGG 19 was chosen as the best algorithm for this particular application. The results of this study demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI) technologies may support and preserve traditional artistic forms. This AI-integrated framework is a useful tool for scholars, educators, and dancers, promoting a deeper knowledge and enjoyment of this cultural legacy through its accurate analysis and prediction of Kathakali mudras. © 2024 IEEE.
