The Industrial Control System is experiencing a massive redesign because of the digital transition and the promises of Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. The convergence of Information Technology and Operational Technology has reinforced the Process Industry as a cyber-physical ecosystem. In today's industrial automation environment, the Internet of Things and Industrial Internet of Things have become intrinsically tied. SCADA systems are crucial for monitoring and managing control parameters and notifying system failures to reduce downtime in the process industry. The SCADA operations, such as data collection, control operations, and visualization, have undergone substantial changes because of technological advancements. These transformations have motivated us to design and implement a novel SCADA engine using the latest technologies. The SCADA WebView is an innovative Enterprise Transmission SCADA engine developed under the COPS framework for the power sector. It can also be tailored to different process industries. This product has been extensively deployed across the Indian Power Grid. In the future, an AI-based cognitive decision-making system will be incorporated for optimal control. © 2021 IEEE.

FPGAs play an important role in the implementation of modern communication systems like Cognitive radios (CR). The CRs are designed to run multiple waveforms based on environment sensing. The waveforms can be multicarrier and can have wider bandwidths and high data rate. The radio platform will be loaded with multiple executable files depending on the waveforms which will use different source coding, channel coding and modulation schemes. In the case of waveform components running on FPGA the user have to load large bit files even for small changes in the waveforms. In CRs the configuration time and power consumption plays significant role. The configuration time and power is very critical in strategic wireless radio communications. If the waveforms design is made Partially Reconfigurable then the configuration time and the Hardware usage can be saved. Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is a method of transmitting digital data on multiple carrier frequencies and which is a best transmission technology for CR systems. The paper describes the Design and Implementation of OFDM transmitters with multiple modulations, channel coding and source coding using Partial Re-configuration (PR).The PR technique allows user to swap between multiple OFDM transmitters which are using 1/2 BPSK, 1/2 QPSK, 3/4;QPSK, 1/2 QAM and 3/4;QAM during runtime by configuring a control register in FPGA. This PR based implementation of OFDM Transmitter has a common hardware, which is the Static Part and there is a configurable Dynamic part. The user has to load the bit stream for the Dynamic part only, and not the entire bit stream. A soft processor (Microblaze) is used for configuring and debugging the system. © 2013 IEEE.

XML signature standard defined by IETF/W3C references or identifies signed elements by their unique identities specified by 'id' attribute values in the given XML document. Hence, signed XML elements can be shifted from one location to another location in a XML document, and still, it does not have any effect on its ability to verify its signature. This flexibility paves the way for an attacker to tweak original XML message without getting noticed by the receiver. In this paper we propose the concept of "Positional Token" to overcome the attack on XML signatures and demonstrate the same. © 2017 IEEE.

The avian influenza virus can be the cause of economic devastation due the impact on poultry, making it the cause for a potential pandemic. By predicting the disease, the consequences can be mitigated;so, the research explores various simple and ensemble classifiers, their performances are compared, and the one that is most efficient at predicting the avian influenza in Asian Countries is found. Facebook prophet is used to make prediction about the number of cases arising in future. The research also studies the impact of meteorological factors on the prediction of the disease. The results obtained from the research can be used as a tool to understand the causes for the aggravation of the avian influenza in future studies and thus, help mitigate its effects. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Advances in the field of Integrated Circuits (ICs) has resulted in high density Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) chips comprising of both digital and analog components onto a single chip. Consequently, testing of these ICs with analog and digital components are challenging and time consuming. Moreover, the techniques available for testing analog components when compared to digital are less and also difficult. This paper describes a approach of utilizing Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) for fault diagnosis of analog circuits describing the technique of Reconfigurable computing Systems (RCS). The paper provides a brief about Fault diagnosis, FPGAs and utilization of FPGAs for RCS followed with the approach of the research. In summary the paper provides a brief about utilizing a digital hardware to perform testing of analog cicuits. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Deepfake technology has emerged as a potent tool for creating realistic yet fabricated images that pose significant challenges to the veracity of visual content. This paper proposes an advanced framework for the detection of deepfake image forgery, aiming to identify suspicious images with a high degree of accuracy. The approach integrates a multi-faceted analysis, incorporating digital forensics, deep learning techniques and image quality metrics. Using the power of deep learning networks—more specifically, XceptionNet and a GAN network that makes up EfficientNet—this paper presents a novel method for deepfake image forgery detection that can effectively discriminate between real and manipulated images for both low and high quality AI-synthesized images. Low-quality images are those which are generated through face swap and face reenactment while high quality images are those which are generated through face synthesis. We're grouping into classes that are real, fake and suspicious, suspicious for those which are false positives for the real and fake classes. Lastly, additional analysis is conducted on the fake and suspicious classes in order to draw appropriate conclusions. Our experimental findings show that the suggested method for deepfake image forgery detection performs better than current approaches. The proposed method achieves 95% of accuracy rate on a dataset consisting of both real and fake images. This implies that the technique might prove to be a useful resource for identifying deepfakes in practical settings. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In a dynamic environment, one of the challenges in building context aware applications is the communication paradigm between context providers and end applications. Synchronous communication may not be suitable since all the entities may not be live all the time. In this paper we present the architecture of Context Aware Framework developed using publish / subscribe paradigm to provide asynchronous communication between sensor layer which provides the context information and application layer which consumes the context in order to act according to the context. Sensors keep publishing the data in the XML format using Publish-API and Applications subscribe to the interested context using Subscribe-API. The framework also maintains a knowledge base to store context information in OWL (Web Ontology Language) format and does context interpretation, context modeling, rule based reasoning and event notification. It helps in rapid development of context aware applications across various domains. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

With the advent of web based e-learning systems, a huge amount of educational data is getting generated. These massive data gave rise to Big data in educational sectors. Currently, big data analytics techniques are being used to analyze these educational data and generate different predictions and recommendations for students, teachers and schools. Recommendation systems are already very helpful in e-commerce, service industry and social networking sites. Recently recommendation systems are proved to be efficient for education sector as well. In this work we are using recommendation system for Big data in education. This work uses collaborative filtering based recommendation techniques to recommend elective courses to students, depending upon their grade points obtained in other subjects. We are using item based recommendation of Mahout machine learning library on top of Hadoop to generate set of recommendations. Similarity Log-likelihood is used to discover patterns among grades and subjects. Root Mean Square Error between actual grade and recommended grade is used to test the recommendation system. The output of this study can be used by schools, colleges or universities to suggest alternative elective courses to students. © 2017 IEEE.

In this paper we describe a prototype model named Intelligent Intrusion Detection System (In2DS) for remote surveillance and monitoring, which further enhances the traditional video surveillance systems. Our approach follows the principle of utilizing Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) thereby redistributing the work of traditional surveillance systems. We prove that the blend of WSN and video monitoring systems shall effectively improve the classification and characterization of the object of interest. The paper presents a detailed system implementation and operational states carried out in the developed model as a part of the project. © 2011 IEEE.

The performance analysis of ANUGA, a Python-based finite volume solver on the unstructured grid for shallow water model in two dimensions, on recent Intel and AMD processor-based HPC clusters, form the focus of the present study. The analysis uses three datasets with different resolutions of the underlying triangular mesh for discretizing the region of interest. The computational workload depends on the resolution of the grid, which impacts the computation time required for the simulation of the flow. The factors influencing the parallel performance: workload distribution across different processes, and the bulk of the data exchange (the communication overhead), are studied systematically. This paper is an account of the preliminary study to understand the impact of the memory hierarchy (due to the relative sizes of cache) available on different architecture on the performance of this application. © 2021 ACM.
