The implementation of indigenously developed advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solutions for electricity utilities in the Indian context is explored in this work. The pilot deployment was carried out with the support of Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL), and the project was funded by the National Mission on Power Electronics Technology (NaMPET) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Implementing such a system came with its own set of challenges, from identifying suitable sites for meter deployment and gaining customer acceptance for smart meter technology to handling the complexities of heterogeneous communication interfaces. The project also required managing data from diverse meters in a structured format, finalizing detailed specifications, and ensuring seamless integration with existing billing systems through secure APIs. Additionally, implementing robust cybersecurity measures was critical to protect the integrity of the Meter Data Acquisition system (MDAS). Insights into these challenges and the solutions developed to address them are presented, providing valuable learnings for future AMI implementations. © 2024 IEEE.

The increasing data resources from multiple sensors challenges the researchers in developing a standard job submission framework that can be readily used over an HPC cluster and cloud environment. Developing a framework will be of great use to small computing labs, where the availability of HPC resources is limited. In addition to this, the issues such as network failure, software dependencies, etc. also hinder the nature and processing duration of the simulations. Resolving any such system-centric factor is out of the scope in many applications. In this regard, this article addresses the need for developing a problem-solving framework that can integrate the available HPC and cloud resources. Furthermore, the impact happens due to the network failure, non-availability of remote HPC clusters and delay in deriving the critical results that can be reduced to a major extent. © 2020 IEEE.

Matching is an essential operation towards automated registration of digital images. Registration of images is basically done either by studying the characteristics of the region surrounding the object of interest or by considering image morphological features. Many automated matching algorithms have been proposed and evaluated in the literature. However, previous studies on automated matching have either used a small number of benchmarks images in their evaluation, been directed at microscopy and not digital cameras, or have been based on ad hoc evaluation criteria. In this paper, we are presenting an image independent automated algorithm for pixel-to-pixel matching between two digital images obtained from two different microscope imaging devices. Here, SURF feature points and Euclidean distance measures are used for identifying key matching member index (KM2I). We have extensively tested our algorithm on a macro set of 1,69,000 digital images obtained from 250 pap smear samples. Experimental results prove that the proposed algorithm performs better for digital photography. © 2020 IEEE.

War and military metaphors are commonly used in the situation where the government requires strong and strict decisions. Metaphors may play a crucial role in the healthcare domain when there is an emergency situation like COVID-19 pandemic. In the era of social media, the emergency communication can be disseminated in most efficient manner. This paper proposes and investigates the use of war and military metaphor in the Twitter and its impact on the citizen and the government machinery. We used data mining tools to extract data from the Twitter and subjected it for sentiment analysis. The metaphor perception in the healthcare context have different dimension. It will induce fear and insecurity in the citizen and more authoritative nature in the people in power. The use of war and military metaphors will have mixed responses depending the socio-economic and cultural background of the person. The war and military metaphor will prevail until the quest for power by the human being exists in nature. The war and military are the having different perceptions among the people lives in fear in the war hit region and the people never experienced the war situation.

An Ab initio study on effects of doping into Pt 13 cluster with Ag, Ir and Pd

It is well known that doping is an efficient tool to modify the properties of clusters. Here, the results of the ab initio calculations on the effects of substitutional doping of Ag, Ir, and Pd atoms on the atomic and electronic structure of Pt 13 cluster are reported. The plane wave method and spin-polarized Exchange-correlation function have been used to study the various low-lying isomers of Pt 13 and to identify the lowest energy structures of the doped clusters. Moreover, this work involves studying about different doping sites and different magnetization values, exclusively for each isomer. Doing this way, the stability of the atom cluster has been analyzed and that is based on the low energy of the isomers calculated by the total energy with spin-polarized, lowest values of HOMO-LUMO gap, and higher values of the binding energy of each atom in the Pt 13 cluster structure. The resulting lowest energy structures show that in the case of Pt 12 Ir, the lowest energy isomer changes compared to the Pt 12 Ag and Pt 12 Pd clusters. Further, Bader charge analysis has been performed for calculating the charge transfer between the dopant and the host cluster which shows a charge transfer from −1.37 to +0.74 e. The study also reports about the changes that had happened in the electronic structure and magnetic properties of the Pt 13 cluster due to the dopant. This work helps to understand about the energy changes that occur during magnetic moment variations on the atomic cluster, DoS, and about analyzing this energy changes while spinning the atoms.

Technological advancement in the field of trans- portation and communication has been happening at a faster pace in the past few decades. As the demand for high-speed transportation increases, the need for an improved seamless communication system to handle higher data traffic in a highly mobile environment becomes imperative. This paper proposes a novel scheme to enhance the quality of service in high-speed railway （HSR） communication environment using the concept of torch nodes （TNs） and adaptive measurement aggregation （AMA）. The system was modeled using an object-oriented discrete event sim- ulator, and the performance was analyzed against the existing single-antenna scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme with its minimal imple- mentation overhead can efficiently perform seamless han- dover with reduced handover failure and communication interruption probability.

With advancements in the science of detection and attribution studies, the influence of climate change over many events has now been quantified. Because of the rapidly increasing temperatures, vulnerable populations (adults older than 65 years, and children younger than one year of age) were exposed to 3·7 billion more heatwave days in 2021 than annually in 1986–2005 (indicator 1.1.2), and heat-related deaths increased by 68% between 2000–04 and 2017–21 (indicator 1.1.5), a death toll that was significantly exacerbated by the confluence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the local cooling and overall health benefits of urban greenspaces, only 277 (27%) of 1038 global urban centres were at least moderately green in 2021 (indicator 2.2.3), and the number of households with air conditioning increased by 66% from 2000 to 2020, a maladaptive response that worsens the energy crisis and further increases urban heat, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions.
