Next generation ubiquitous computing will comprise of context aware adaptive applications and protocols. There is a need of a generic architecture to cater for the adaptation requirements of increasingly demanding real-time applications and increasing dynamic wireless networks. This paper discusses the adaptive approach supported by CA3RM-Com architecture. CA3RM-Com is the context aware architecture proposed for real-time communication in wireless networks. It addresses the context representation, context acquisition, context exchange, and context management. Specific details of the architecture and referring adaptations that CA3RM-Com can support are discussed. Moreover the extended simulation results of adaptive multi-homed Mobile IP are presented in this paper. © 2008 IEEE.

Real time mobile communication is challenging due to the inherent limitations of mobile networks. On the other hand the stringent quality of service requirements of real time traffic is highly in demand. Our first contribution is the generic context aware architecture for adaptive real time applications. Adaptation is based on the awareness of context parameters from different layers of the existing protocol stack which involves context exchange among the neighboring layers as well as non-neighboring layers. The architecture comprises of context representation, context acquisition, cross-layer context exchange and context management. Our second contribution is the mobility aware, adaptive Multi-homed Mobile IP. Simulation of adaptive M-MIP was carried out as a proof of concept. Simulation demonstrated that adaptation to mobility was able to decrease Mobile IP handover latency. Further, the results show that the quality of service of real time traffic can be enhanced by using context aware adaptive MIP. The simulation involved with various speeds ranging from pedestrian scenarios to vehicular scenarios. Results are analyzed with variable data rates. The evaluations show that performance of the proposed solution is better compared to conventional MIP in terms of packet loss and throughput of real time traffic. © 2008 IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

The prediction of traffic congestion is quite an important issue in vehicle navigation to smoothly control traffic flow, and improve the quality of driver's convenience. However, it is not easy to make accurate predictions since traffic change is highly nonlinear and complex dynamic process. First, we present a new traffic prediction algorithm on the basis of the combined knowledge of both the historical and the real-time traffic information. Based on this traffic prediction result, this paper presents a novel routing technique capable of providing intelligent route services completely adequate to dynamic route guidance systems. In our experiments, we have performed the proposed algorithms on two road networks;one of the complex urban areas and the city. Overall, the results of traffic prediction indicate that our prediction algorithms provide more accurate (nearly 90%) traffic information compared with previous traffic prediction solutions. In addition, our implementation of route determination provides the adaptive routes for traffic conditions, as well as scalable routing services for users' preferences. © 2007 IEEE.

This paper presents a simple and improved technique of interface fault insertion for conducting component integration testing through the use of aspect-oriented software development (AOSD). Taking the advantage of aspect's cross-cutting features, this technique only requires additional codes written in AspectJ rather than having a separate tool to perform this operation. These aspect codes act as wrappers around interface services and perform operations such as disabling the implementation of the interface services, raising exceptions or corrupting the inputs and outputs of interface services. Interface faults are inserted into the system under test to evaluate the quality of the test cases by ensuring not only that they detect errors due to the interactions between components, but they are also able to handle exceptions raised when interface faults are triggered.

This paper addresses the need of semantic component in the grid environment to discover and describe the grid resources semantically. We propose semantic grid architecture by introducing a knowledge layer at the top of Gridbus broker architecture and thereby enabling broker to discover resources semantically. The semantic component in the knowledge layer enables semantic description of grid resources with the help of ontology template. The ontology template has been created using Protege-OWL editor for different types of computing resources in the grid environment. The Globus Toolkit's MDS is used to gather grid resource information and Protege-OWL libraries are used to dynamically create knowledge base of grid resources. Algernon inference engine is used for interacting with the knowledge base to discover suitable resources.

This paper presents an improvement to existing class test ordering stategies by including coupling measures to reduce non-determinism and decrease the number of stubs to be produced. Our novel strategy aims to lift the known methods from class hierarchies to component-based product lines in which so-called connectors between components are key entities for structuring, assembling and integrating software architectures, and in which tighter coupling of classes inside components and looser coupling between classes in different components are fundamental to component-based architecture composition. The paper also evaluates the new method and confirms the expected reductions in the number of stubs generated and the improved test ordering. Two recent test order strategies for C++ are compared with our novel approach through experiments conducted on two mini product lines written in Java. The new proposed test ordering strategy is more deterministic through measuring coupling, which is at the heart of component-based product line architectures. © 2005 IEEE.

The recent advances in hardware and software have enabled the capture of different measurements of data in a wide range of fields. These measurements are generated continuously and in a very high fluctuating data rates. Examples include sensor networks, web logs, and computer network traffic. The storage, querying and mining of such data sets are highly computationally challenging tasks. Mining data streams is concerned with extracting knowledge structures represented in models and patterns in non stopping streams of information. The research in data stream mining has gained a high attraction due to the importance of its applications and the increasing generation of streaming information. Applications of data stream analysis can vary from critical scientific and astronomical applications to important business and financial ones. Algorithms, systems and frameworks that address streaming challenges have been developed over the past three years. In this review paper, we present the state-of-the-art in this growing vital field.
