This article describes data collected from a sensor network deployed in the catchment of The Namal Lake, situated in Mianwali district, Pakistan. The lake serves as a reservoir for the Namal Dam. The sensor network consists of 14 unique observation points in a watershed spanning a 425 sq km area. The data includes measurements of precipitation at a resolution of 0.246 mm at all sensor locations and measurements of water level at a 1 mm resolution at 7 locations (including the lake itself). The first sensor installation was made in November 2020 with the last one deployed in July 2022. The associated time series for both variables is generated at a 10-minute sampling frequency. Multiple aggregations of the dataset have been made available at hourly, daily, and monthly timescales. The data can be used for calibrating hydrological models for various applications such as flood prediction, watershed management, and decision-making for reservoir operation. The dataset also contributes to understanding the hydrometeorological processes in similar small catchments at the Monsoon Margin.

This paper announces a new four-dimensional hyperchaotic hyperjerk system with a single equilibrium and discusses its dynamic properties such as Lyapunov exponents, phase portraits, Kaplan-Yorke dimension and equilibrium points. Hyperjerk systems have a nice triangular structure in their dynamics and they have many engineering applications. Our new hyperjerk system has three nonlinearities in total. New synchronization results based on active backstepping control are also derived for the new hyperjerk system. In addition, an electronic circuit implementation of the new hyperjerk system is designed carefully and examined well in MultiSIM. A good qualitative agreement has been shown between the MATLAB simulations of the theoretical hyperchaotic hyperjerk model and the MultiSIM results. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper reports the finding of a new three-dimensional chaotic system with four quadratic nonlinear terms. The paper starts with a detailed dynamic analysis of the properties of the system such as phase plots, Lyapunov exponents, Kaplan-Yorke dimension and equilibrium points. Our new chaotic system is obtained by modifying the dynamics of the Zhu chaotic system (2010), and it has complex chaotic properties. As an engineering application, passive control method is applied for the global chaos control of the new chaotic system. Finally, an electronic circuit implementation of the new chaotic system is designed and implemented in MultiSIM. A good qualitative agreement has been shown between the MATLAB simulations of the new chaotic system and the MultiSIM results. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Spike glycoprotein is essential for the reproduction of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and its inhibition using already approved antiviral drugs may open new avenues for treatment of patients with the COVID-19 disease. Because of that we analyzed the inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein with FDA-approved antiviral drugs and their double and triple combinations. We used the VINI in silico model of cancer to perform this virtual drug screening, showing HIV drugs to be the most effective. Besides, the combination of cobicistat-abacavir-rilpivirine HIV drugs demonstrated the highest in silico efficacy of inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein. Therefore, a clinical trial of cobicistat-abacavir-rilpivirine on a limited number of COVID-19 patients in moderately severe and severe condition is warranted. © 2021 The Authors

The desire to share and unite remote digital assets motivated the development of the classical internet, the enabler of the entire 21st century economy and our modern way of life. As we enter the quantum era, it is to be expected there will be a similar demand for networking quantum assets, motivating a global quantum internet for bringing together the world's quantum resources, leveraging off their exponential trajectory in capability. We present models for quantum networking, how they might be applied in the future, and the implications they will have. Socially, economically, politically and geostrategically, the upcoming era of quantum supremacy will be as significant for the 21st century as the transistor was for the 20th. The inherently different scaling in the computational power of quantum computers fundamentally changes the dynamics of how they will operate in the future. Given their high expected initial cost, a client/server model for outsourcing computation will be essential for enabling the accessibility and proliferation of this technology, and ensuring its economic viability. We therefore anticipate the emergence of cloud quantum computing, a model for outsourcing quantum computations to the network. We argue that economic efficiency will mandate that all future quantum computers be united into a single global virtual quantum computer, offering exponentially more power to all network participants than if they were to keep their resources to themselves. This model for the allocation of computational resources is uniquely quantum, with no classical analogue, completely altering the economic landscape for the future of computation. Given the sensitivity of much of the data to which future quantum computers are going to foreseeably be applied, protocols for encrypted quantum computation will be essential - the outsourcing of computations that neither an eavesdropper nor even the server performing the computation can spy upon. Recent advancements in glass science have focused on optimizing optical and structural properties through the incorporation of rare oxide nanoparticles, such as lanthanum and gold oxide, to enhance transparency, refractive index, and band gap energy for photonic applications. Additionally, the integration of machine learning techniques in material design accelerates the prediction and optimisation of these properties, enabling more efficient discovery and development of advanced glass systems for optoelectronic and photonic devices. The melt-quenching technique was employed to fabricate zinc borotellurite glasses doped with lanthanum oxide and gold oxide. The glass's amorphous nature was confirmed through structural analysis, which detected absorption bands corresponding to TeO3, BO4, and BO3 units. A drop in molar volume with an increase in gold oxide quantity prompted a suggestion for structural reorganisation. Optical investigations indicated an increase in the optical band gap energy and a blue shift in the absorption edge. Four machine learning models—Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, XGBoost, and Artificial Neural Networks—were employed to forecast critical optical and physical parameters, such as refractive index, density, molar volume, optical band gap, and Urbach energy, to expedite the discovery process. This data-driven approach illustrates the transformative capabilities of machine learning in materials science, facilitating the swift modification of glass compositions to enhance optical performance for photonic and optoelectronic applications. The enhanced optical properties of the synthesized glass system make it a promising candidate for photonic and optoelectronic applications, including optical fibers, solid-state lasers, and planar waveguides, where its tunable refractive index and improved transparency can optimize signal transmission and device efficiency. Medical image processing requires image segmentation and image registration as important diagnostic tools. Image segmentation aims to split structures of interest into distinct components. Meanwhile, image registration finds an ideal transformation between given images. Despite their interrelationship, both tasks are often performed separately. As a result, it faces several problems when undertaken independently. Therefore, the joint models between segmentation and registration have advantages over the separate tasks, particularly when dealing with noisy images. This paper reviewed and compared three existing variational joint segmentation and registration (JSR) models based on active contour without edges and linear curvature. The models are tested on 2D mono-modal and multi-modal images with the presence of white Gaussian noise. The Dice coefficient metric and the registration performance measure are used to evaluate the performance of the models. Numerical results showed that the JSR model using the modified sum of the squared difference outperformed the other two JSR models for noisy mono-modal images. However, the JSR model using the modified normalized gradient fields performed better than the JSR model based on the modified mutual information for noisy multi-modal images.

A new four-dimensional chaotic system with only two quadratic nonlinearities is proposed in this paper. It is interesting that the new chaotic system exhibits a two-wing strange attractor. The dynamical properties of the new chaotic system are described in terms of phase portraits, equilibrium points, Lyapunov exponents, Kaplan-Yorke dimension, dissipativity, etc. The new chaotic system has two saddle-foci, unstable equilibrium points. Thus, the new chaotic system exhibits self-excited attractor. Also, a detailed analysis of the new chaotic system dynamics has been carried out with bifurcation diagram and Lyapunov exponents. As an engineering application, an electronic circuit realization of the new chaotic system is designed via MultiSIM to confirm the feasibility of the theoretical 4-D chaotic model. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. The development of a recycling method for manganese dioxide, a byproduct of reactions, has made permanganate, a persistent oxidant in organic chemistry, more environmentally benign. This makes permanganate developments in technology more cost-effective and less hazardous to the environment. Understanding the rate and mechanisms of chemical reactions is important in a variety of fields, including chemistry and biology. Sugars, as organic substrates, are sensitive to oxidation by the potent oxidant permanganate. We utilized the commonly used oxidants in permanganate oxidation, D-glucose, D-fructose, and D-sucrose. This study investigates the importance of efficient oxidation processes by creating extended fractal fractional models for computer analysis. It looks at possible ways permanganate can be oxidized by analyzing these equations both qualitatively and quantitatively with the Mittag-Leffler kernel, which is not commonly studied. Using advanced fixed-point theory results, the kinetic system’s solutions are analyzed and found to be unique. A Lyapunov function is offered for the proposed kinetic system, which necessitates consideration of the oxidation process kinetics as well as a thorough stability analysis of chemical parameters. In addition, we stabilize the kinetic system utilizing the proposed linear feedback regulate technique for chaos control and system sensitivity analysis. We use the Spectral Quasi Equilibrium Manifold (SQEM) approach, an advanced modeling simplification tool, to study the complex behavior of multi-step reaction processes.
