The biometric identification method of fingerprint recognition is quite popular because of its uniqueness and durability. The KNN-S 1FT algorithm is used in this research work to present a novel method for extracting and recognizing fingerprint features. The extraction of fingerprint feature information and fingerprint matching are the two main topics of the article. For the purpose of handling image differences brought on by scale, rotation, and affine transformations, a number of fingerprint feature extraction techniques are explored, with a focus on the SIFT algorithm. The KNN-S 1FT technique boosts the precision and dependability of fingerprint matching by combining the power of machine learning with pattern recognition. Experimental tests on a benchmark fingerprint database show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other cutting-edge methods in terms of accuracy and reliability. The findings of this study have broad ramifications for fields requiring safe identification procedures, including forensic investigations, access control systems, and law enforcement. The KNN-S 1FT technique that has been suggested helps to create sophisticated, effective fingerprint identification systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Traffic prediction is pivotal in intelligent transportation systems. Existing works focus mainly on improving overall accuracy, overlooking a crucial problem of whether prediction results will lead to biased decisions by transportation authorities. In practice, the uneven deployment of traffic sensors in different urban areas produces imbalanced data, making the traffic prediction model fail in some urban areas and leading to unfair regional decision-making that eventually severely affects equity and quality of residents’ life. Existing fairness machine learning models struggle to maintain fair traffic prediction over prolonged periods. Although these models might achieve fairness at certain time slots, this static fairness will break down as traffic conditions change. To fill this research gap, we investigate prolonged fair traffic prediction, introducing two novel fairness metrics, i.e., region-based static fairness and sensor-based dynamic fairness, tailored to fairness fluctuations over time and across areas. An innovative prolonged fairness traffic prediction framework, namely FairTP, is then proposed. FairTP achieves prolonged fairness by alternating between "sacrifice" and "benefit" the prediction accuracy of each traffic sensor or area, ensuring that the number of these two actions are balanced over time. Specifically, FairTP incorporates a state identification module to discriminate whether the traffic sensors or areas are in a "sacrifice" or "benefit" state, thereby enabling prolonged fairness-aware traffic predictions. Additionally, we devise a state-guided balanced sampling strategy to select training examples to further enhance prediction fairness by mitigating the performance disparities among areas with uneven sensor distribution over time. Extensive experiments in two real-world datasets show that FairTP significantly improves prediction fairness without causing significant accuracy degradation. This paper proposes an iterative deep variational approach for image segmentation in a fusion manner: it is not only able to realize selective segmentation, but can also alleviate the issue of parameter/initialization dependency. Moreover, it possesses a refinement process designed to handle challenging scenarios, such as images containing obscured, damaged, or absent objects, or those with complex backgrounds. Our proposed approach consists of two main procedures, i.e., selective segmentation and shape transformation. The first procedure works as a stem in a totally unsupervised way. A convolutional neural network (CNN) based architecture is properly incorporated into the selective weighting constrained variational segmentation model. The second procedure is to further refine the outputs. This part can be achieved in two ways: one direction is to establish a joint model with the semantic shape constraint. The other technical direction is to make the shape descriptor separated from the joint model and work as an individual unit. In the proposed approach, the minimization problem is transformed from iterative minimization for each variable to automatically minimizing the loss function by learning the generator network parameters. This also leads to a good inductive bias associated with classic variational methods. Extensive experiments have demonstrated the significant advantages. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Neuroimaging has emerged over the last few decades as a crucial tool in diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease(AD).Mild cognitive impairment(MCI)is a condition that falls between the spectrum of normal cognitive function and ***,previous studies have mainly used handcrafted features to classify MCI,AD,and normal control(NC)*** paper focuses on using gray matter(GM)scans obtained through magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)for the diagnosis of individuals with MCI,AD,and *** improve classification performance,we developed two transfer learning strategies with data augmentation(i.e.,shear range,rotation,zoom range,channel shift).The first approach is a deep Siamese network(DSN),and the second approach involves using a cross-domain strategy with customized *** performed experiments on the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative(ADNI)dataset to evaluate the performance of our proposed *** experimental results demonstrate superior performance in classifying the three binary classification tasks:NC ***,NC ***,and MCI ***,we achieved a classification accuracy of 97.68%,94.25%,and 92.18%for the three cases,*** study proposes two transfer learning strategies with data augmentation to accurately diagnose MCI,AD,and normal control individuals using GM *** findings provide promising results for future research and clinical applications in the early detection and diagnosis of AD.

Accurate solutions are needed for a variety of computer vision applications, including medical imaging, object detection, and recognition. Such complicated challenges are beyond the capabilities of artificial intelligence and machine learning, which mainly rely on data and algorithms to learn. The path to Deep Learning (DL) is thus paved. Even though deep learning is incredibly effective at solving complex problems, it is invariant, meaning that it ignores the spatial relationship between the features and instead searches for features only. This can cause the model’s performance to suffer. Additionally, because the model is invariant, gathering a large volume of training data is a difficult undertaking. To address this, the Capsule Network (CapsNet), whose performance outperforms Deep Learning techniques, was introduced. Despite its success, applications of CapsNet and working remain a mystery. Thus, the performance of CapsNet across many applications and obstacles is examined in this study together with the predecessors of CapsNet. Additionally, this paper explores the use of Capsule Networks with an attention mechanism (CapsNet-ATM) for predicting potato leaf diseases. The performance of CapsNet-ATM in this crucial agricultural application is thoroughly assessed and contrasted with the well-known models VGG-16 and VGG-19, providing insight into the system’s efficacy and promise as a reliable tool for the detection and prediction of potato leaf disease. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Our research aims to address the task of detecting homophobia and transphobia in social media code-mixed comments written in Spanish. Code-mixed text in social media often violates strict grammar rules and incorporates non-native scripts, posing challenges for identification. To tackle this problem, we perform pre-processing by removing unnecessary content and establishing a baseline for detecting homophobia and transphobia. Furthermore, we explore the effectiveness of various traditional machine-learning models with feature extraction and pre-trained transformer model techniques. Digital personal Networks have been increasingly utilized in ATM networks for ease of communication. This paper studies the use of VPNs over ATM networks, providing a synopsis of their features and advantages and discussing bible safety threats. The paper also explains VPNs, their sub-types, and how they may be implemented in ATM surroundings;observing takes place once they provide additional protection capabilities while used on ATM networks;we also talk about the fate of VPNs throughout ATM networks, precisely due to the risk posed by using Internet-based providers. These novel results are encouraging and indicate that VPNs may also offer a solution for securing ATM transactions and protecting network data from threat actors. © 2024 IEEE.

Children often suffer from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a neurological disease. With stereotypical behavior and difficulties in social communication, ASD cannot be defined by chronological age alone. It is speculated that this condition results from malfunction in the brain caused by the interplay of several ecological, inherited and regulatory variables. More than one percent of the world's population has ASD, prompting policymakers, educators, and health care professionals to develop plans to combat the condition. Maximizing the potential of patients with autism demands a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, it is crucial that various care models complement one another and do not cause the patient any unnecessary anxiety. Natural therapies have the potential to significantly enhance the long-term success of conventional treatments including psychotherapy, Occupational-Therapy (OT) and PT. According to the progression of symptoms, ASD can take on a number of different forms. However, there is still no agreed-upon gold standard therapy for ASD. If a systematic method is adopted, assessing a kid with suspected ASD is straightforward. There are substantial gains in interpersonal interaction, replication, as well as intellectual and adaptive performance following initial treatment. In this paper, a novel deep learning based prediction approach is designed called as Intelligent Learning Scheme to Predict Autism (ILSPA). This algorithm is cross-validated with the conventional learning approach called Deep Neural Network (DNN) to evaluate the performance and efficiency of the proposed scheme. The resulting scenario provides the proper proof to the efficiency of the proposed algorithm called ILSPA. © 2023 IEEE.
