ANUGA is a Python-based finite volume solver on the unstructured grid for shallow water model in two dimensions for flood modelling. This paper is an account of the hardware counter-based performance study to understand the impact of the memory hierarchy (due to the relative sizes of cache) in two different generations of Intel architecture on the performance of this application. A quantitative analysis of the memory access in the compute-intensive portion of the solver (the time evolution of the quantities associated with the fluid flow on the domain) is attempted by instrumenting with the PAPI library. The hit rates at different levels of cache/memory for various decomposition of the region of interest (computational domain) across processes bring out the impact of optimal sub-domain sizes. The size of the working set ensures temporal locality for iterative loop computations handled by the individual processes, leading to better parallel performance on distributed memory systems. Further, this study showcases the possibility of achieving better performance with larger data sets through suitable decomposition such that the working set fits into various levels of the cache hierarchy. © 2023 ACM.

This research introduces a new dynamic thresholding method, designed for changing illumination conditions in image processing. Traditional fixed thresholds struggle with varying light due to factors like voltage changes, LED aging, etc. The proposed technique adapts thresholds using background image intensity as a reference, employing a supervised approach with polynomial curve fitting via Python's numpy library. This innovative dynamic thresholding, combining supervised learning, enhances object detection and segmentation in machine vision systems, aiding tasks like foreign matter removal in tea, grain quality monitoring, etc. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper we describe interoperability architecture between blockchain networks. A blockchain network can serve multiple organizations that form as a consortium for dealing with transactions among themselves. However, when multiple blockchain networks are deployed how do we support interoperability and what are the major concerns in this direction have to be studied. Artificial intelligence is emerging technology impacting our lives, especially the healthcare sector. Ayurved is a personalised medical system which involves dynamic analysis for diagnosis of diseases and treatment of ailments. AI will assist Ayurved doctor during diagnosis of diseases and treatment of ailments, improving the outcome of intervention. Darśana parikā (Visual Examination) is an important modality in clinical examination, useful in evaluation of signs-symptoms related to Tongue, Skin, Urine, Stool etc. Objective of this paper is to describe the methodology of development of Artificial Intelligence based model for Ayurved Tongue examination (jihvā parikā). The steps involved are identification of usecases for application of AI, Dataset collection and organization, AI modelling, Prediction and Re-Modeling. Readers can adopt similar methodology for the development of AI based model for darśana parikā of Skin, Urine, Stool, Sputum, Teeth, Nails, Hair, Eye, Wounds, which will go a long way in transforming Ayurved based healthcare by providing objective tool for *** Statement - Use of AI in indigenous system of medicine is vital but inspiring task. Ai will aid in development of non-invasive technologies for early diagnosis of diseases-conditions using Ayurveda core principles. Using real life clinical data more refined, reliable and clinically validated models can be developed. Proposed research paper will generate curiosity about use of AI in Ayurveda amongst young intelligent minds. This paper will guide readers about methodical systematic design for development of AI based models based on fundamentals of Ayurveda. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a state-of-the-art virtual research lab (vTAG) for creating, updating, analyzing, and maintaining multilingual large-scale tree-adjoining grammar for natural languages (NL). vTAG has designed to be language independent and tested its performance by constructing grammar of many Indian and European languages with significant reductions in grammar development time by auto rule creation mechanism with the help of a supervised machine learning algorithm. vTAG provides an integrated development environment (IDE) that can generate grammar of any natural language based on tree-adjoining grammar (TAG) formalism by using a specially designed graphical user interface without focusing on the programming aspect. vTAG also contains an advanced age experimental workspace to evaluate and improvise TAG-based parsers, part-of-speech tagger, sematic text analyzer, and associated NLP tools. vTAG can be utilized as an ‘interactive training kit’ for upcoming young talent to empower them for learning and developing advanced tools solving practical problems in NLP field. Furthermore, it can serve as foundation for understanding and building end-to-end machine translation solutions. vTAG uses object oriented model (OOM) for handling the NLP resources so every entity within the environment is in form of an object that can be encrypted which makes linguistic resources convenient for maintenance and secure to exchange and distribution, thus vTAG consists of a workbench, development kit, a graphical user interface, experimental workspace, and language resources on a single platform by combining major concepts from modern computer science, artificial intelligence, and linguistics. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The avian influenza virus can be the cause of economic devastation due the impact on poultry, making it the cause for a potential pandemic. By predicting the disease, the consequences can be mitigated;so, the research explores various simple and ensemble classifiers, their performances are compared, and the one that is most efficient at predicting the avian influenza in Asian Countries is found. Facebook prophet is used to make prediction about the number of cases arising in future. The research also studies the impact of meteorological factors on the prediction of the disease. One of the crucial components of the cluster-based HPC system is its high-performance interconnect. Some popular HPC interconnects are InfiniBand (IB), Gigabit Ethernet, EFA, Slingshot and Omni-Path. Along with the performance of the network, its efficient management is also essential for a large HPC cluster. One such entity that performs the role of management of an IB subnet is OpenSM. Trinetra-A is a high-performance, 100 Gbps, switchless torus, proprietary interconnect developed by the centre for development of advanced computing (C-DAC). Instead of developing a network manager for Trinetra-A, OpenSM has been adapted for its management. Typically, OpenSM runs on a switched network and discovers the entire network. However, Trinetra-A is a switchless network, preventing OpenSM from discovering the complete network. This work presents a method to port OpenSM onto a switchless torus fabric by emulating an IB switch in software, without modifying the network hardware or OpenSM. This emulation is achieved by intercepting subnet management query packets in the Trinetra-A IB interface driver. These queries are responded suitably as if they were replies from an IB switch. Thus, while physical topology is a switchless torus, it is made to appear as a switched topology to OpenSM. The mechanism has been successfully validated on 24 server nodes connected in a 3D torus fashion using Trinetra-A interconnect. Observations show that OpenSM discovers the entire subnet, including the virtual IB switch. Subsequently, the subnet is configured successfully with the required network management parameters. Hence, the proposed method can be used to enable OpenSM over any network supporting IB software interface and with a topology that is not supported by OpenSM. © 2024 IEEE

The rapid evolution of the RISC-V architecture presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly for systems lacking support for compressed instructions (RV64G). This paper explores the development of a Fedora Linux distribution tailored specifically for the RV64G architecture, providing a comprehensive narrative of the process from inception to implementation. Key milestones include establishing a robust filesystem hierarchy, creating a cross-compiler, preparing and bootstrapping target image, integrating a native GCC compiler, and leveraging the Koji build system to streamline package re-building. Additionally, we introduce a custom Python application to automate the Koji builds, enhancing efficiency and consistency. Our innovative approach not only addresses the immediate needs of RV64G systems but also lays the groundwork for future advancements in High-Performance computing (HPC) on the RISC-V platform. This work aims to bridge the gap in the current ecosystem, offering a scalable and maintainable solution that promotes the broader adoption of RISC-V technology [1]. © 2024 IEEE.

Scalability Analysis of Molecular Dynamics Simulation Using NAMD on Ampere-Based Dense GPU Supercomputer 1

Nanoscale molecular dynamics (NAMD) is a widely used scalable scientific software for molecular dynamics applications that simulate the movements of atoms and molecules in a bio-molecular system with millions of atoms. The goal of this paper is to study the scalability of NAMD on a dense GPU-based supercomputer named PARAM Siddhi-AI. Each node of the supercomputer is built with the latest NVIDIA Ampere-based A100 GPUs and AMD 7742 CPUs with 128 CPU cores. The scalability study is classified into two parts, i.e., intra-node GPU scalability and inter-node GPU scalability. The performance is analyzed for two NAMD versions, i.e., 2.13 and 3.0 Alpha for eight different input datasets, however, version 3.0 Alpha only supports single-node GPU runs. The input datasets ApoA1 with 92 thousand atoms whereas STMV with 1.06 billion atoms are used to perform the benchmarking. It is observed that NAMD version 3.0 Alpha performed better than version 2.13 for intra-node GPU scalability. Version 3.0 Alpha is ~ 1.5x to ~ 2x times more efficient on a node with 8 GPUs for the input datasets ApoA1 and STMV respectively. In comparison with CPU performance, the NAMD version 3.0 Alpha shows a speed-up of 22x and 90x whereas version 2.13 shows a speed-up of 19x and 12x for both the input datasets ApoA1 and STMV respectively. In the case of inter-node GPU performance, version 2.13 shows the speed-up of 6.98x and 6x across 4 nodes with 32 GPUs (each node with 8 GPUs) in comparison with CPU performance for input datasets ApoA1 and STMV respectively. The difference in the performance of version 3.0 Alpha and 2.13 is due to the elimination of the CPU bottleneck in NAMD 3.0 Alpha, and this is achieved by offloading almost all (force computations, integrator, and rigid bond constraints) computations to the GPU. An operational-transconductance amplifier (OTA) is a type of amplifier that has the capability to convert an input voltage signal into an output current signal. Traditional Op-amp amplifies voltage signals directly while the OTA amplifies the current making it suitable for applications such as filters, voltage-controlled oscillators, and active filters. Similar to operational amplifiers, OTAs rely on both the supply voltage and gain. To maximize the advantage, the analog circuitry depends on various parameters such as bandwidth, common mode rejection ratio, gain, noise, and power consumption. High gain and less power consumption are preferred to fulfill the desired requirements. It is observed that the circuit which is based on the current mode is preferable as compared to the voltage mode. This paper analyzes and compares various operational-transconductance amplifiers while utilizing basic current mirrors, cascode, and cascade current mirrors. The OTA having a current mirror load and current sink shows better performance as it gives high gain and consumes less power. All three circuits are simulated in 90nm CMOS technology in Cadence Virtuoso. © 2024 IEEE.
