The problem of detecting not occupied areas of the road is useful in many ADAS functions that include Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lateral Control (LC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The problem may be in general defined as the ability to distinguish such areas from those that are occupied by other traffic members. The objective here is to provide data useful, for example, in planning vehicle's maneuvers. In this work, we propose a solution that supports the recognition of such areas. The proposed method is based on a procedure similar to the one used in Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) used in image decomposition. One of the introduced modifications relies on using simpler filters, whose structure facilitates their hardware implementation.

Herein,a two-node beam element enriched based on the Lagrange and Hermite interpolation function is proposed to solve the governing equation of a functionally graded porous(FGP)curved nanobeam on an elastic foundation in a hygro–thermo–magnetic *** material properties of curved nanobeams change continuously along the thickness via a power-law distribution,and the porosity distributions are described by an uneven porosity *** effects of magnetic fields,temperature,and moisture on the curved nanobeam are assumed to result in axial loads and not affect the mechanical properties of the *** equilibrium equations of the curved nanobeam are derived using Hamilton’s principle based on various beam theories,including the classical theory,first-order shear deformation theory,and higher-order shear deformation theory,and the nonlocal elasticity *** accuracy of the proposed method is verified by comparing the results obtained with those of previous reliable ***,the effects of different parameters on the free vibration behavior of the FGP curved nanobeams are investigated comprehensively.

Near tangent dynamics in a class of Hamiltonian impact systems

Tangencies correspond to singularities of impact systems, separating between impacting and non-impacting trajectory segments. The closure of their orbits constitute the singularity set, which, even in the simpler billiard limit, is known to have a complex structure. The properties of this set are studied in a class of near integrable two degrees-of-freedom Hamiltonian impact systems. For this class of systems, in the integrable limit, on iso-energy surfaces, tangency appears at an isolated torus. We construct a piecewise smooth iso-energy return map for the perturbed flow near such a tangent torus. Away from the singularity set, this map has invariant curves, so, the singularity set is included in a limiting singularity band. An asymptotic upper bound of this band width is found for both non-resonant and resonant tangent tori. In the Diophantine case the band extent to both the impacting and non-impacting regimes is, asymptotically, of order ϵ. In the resonance case its asymptotic extent to the non-impacting regime is at most of order √ϵ whereas its maximal asymptotic extent to the impacting regime is of order ϵ2/3. Studying numerically a truncated standard form of the return map which is integrable at ϵ = 0 and has a square-root singularity with a singularity parameter α, reveals that only the strongest resonance obeys this maximal extent resonance scaling. We find that for all but one resonant case the singularity band has connecting orbits from its lower to its upper boundaries. The number of iterates required for an orbit to visit close to both the lower and upper boundaries of the singularity band diverges as ϵ α2 is decreased, giving rise to multitude of transient complex phenomena. On the other hand, large α values at a fixed small ϵ lead to a significant reduction in this connection time. © 2021, CC BY.

As China's social economy progresses, the amount of equipment in distribution networks continues to grow, leading to increasingly complex system operations. In this environment, traditional centralized control methods consume excessive computing resources and fail to achieve the processing speeds required by modern intelligent distribution networks. To address these challenges, this article introduces the concept of electrical distance to segment the distribution network and proposes voltage regulation algorithms based on the alternating direction multiplier method and dual ascent method for efficient distributed voltage regulation.

The Internet of Things(IoT)and related applications have witnessed enormous growth since its *** diversity of connecting devices and relevant applications have enabled the use of IoT devices in every *** the applicability of these applications are predominant,battery life remains to be a major challenge for IoT devices,wherein unreliability and shortened life would make an IoT application completely *** this work,an optimized deep neural networks based model is used to predict the battery life of the IoT *** present study uses the Chicago Park Beach dataset collected from the publicly available data repository for the experimentation of the proposed *** dataset is pre-processed using the attribute mean technique eliminating the missing values and then One-Hot encoding technique is implemented to convert it to numerical *** processed data is normalized using the Standard Scaler *** Flame Optimization(MFO)Algorithm is then implemented for selecting the optimal features in the *** optimal features are finally fed into the DNN model and the results generated are evaluated against the stateof-the-art models,which justify the superiority of the proposed MFO-DNN model.

Differentiable Neural architecture Search (DARTS) recently attracts a lot of research attention because of its high efficiency. However, the competition of candidate operations in DARTS introduces high uncertainty for selecting the truly important operation, thus leading to serious performance collapse. In this work, we decrease the uncertainty of differentiable architecture search (DU-DARTS) by enforcing the distribution of architecture parameters to approach the one-hot categorical distribution and by replacing the zero operation with a gate switch. Without any extra search cost, our method achieves state-of-the-art performance with 2.32%, 16.74%, and 24.1% test error on CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, and ImageNet datasets, respectively. Moreover, DU-DARTS can robustly find an excellent architecture on NAS-Bench-1Shot1 and NAS-Bench-201, which further demonstrates the effectiveness of our method. Cryo-CACTI: Cryogenic-Aware CACTI for Cache Modeling down to 10K in Advanced 7nm FinFETs

Cryogenic circuits are currently employed in fields such as quantum computing, particle detectors, magnetic resonance imaging, and space applications. While cryogenic circuits are being researched, there is limited work on designing cryogenic caches at temperatures below 77K. Moreover, there is no tool to estimate the delay, power, and area of cryogenic caches at advanced technology nodes. Our research focuses on the development of cryogenic caches tailored for the 7nm technology node, operating at 10K. However, a key challenge is the lack of cryogenic measurement data, especially in recent technologies. Consequently, through conducting our own FinFET transistor measurements, we calibrate cryogenic transistor models at 10K. With the 7nm cryogenic transistor data, we model Cryo-CACTI for cryogenic caches (due to cache’s vital role in improving performance and their considerable share in area and power of the processor). Using Cryo-CACTI, our evaluation reveals considerable improvements in the energy efficiency (up to 99%) of cryogenic caches of larger sizes compared to the caches at room temperature (300K). Additionally, we explore alternative cache configurations at circuit-level to optimize cryogenic operation. Furthermore, we use Cryo-CACTI to explore the performance/energy consumption of cryogenic caches while simulating workloads such as SPEC CPU2017 and machine learning via neural networks. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

When is Momentum Extragradient Optimal? A Polynomial-Based Analysis

The extragradient method has gained popularity due to its robust convergence properties for differentiable games. Unlike single-objective optimization, game dynamics involve complex interactions reflected by the eigenvalues of the game vector field’s Jacobian scattered across the complex plane. This complexity can cause the simple gradient method to diverge, even for bilinear games, while the extragradient method achieves convergence. Building on the recently proven accelerated convergence of the momentum extragradient method for bilinear games (Azizian et al., 2020b), we use a polynomial-based analysis to identify three distinct scenarios where this method exhibits further accelerated convergence. These scenarios encompass situations where the eigenvalues reside on the (positive) real line, lie on the real line alongside complex conjugates, or exist solely as complex conjugates. Furthermore, we derive the hyperparameters for each scenario that achieve the fastest convergence rate. © 2022, CC BY.

Brain-inspired hyperdimensional computing (HDC) offers much more efficient computing compared to other classical deep learning and related machine learning algorithms. Unlike classical CMOS, emerging non-volatile memories (NVMs) used in the realization of HDC are susceptible to failures under voltage scaling, which is essential for energy saving. Although HDC is inherently robust against errors, this is only possible when hypervectors with a large dimension (e.g., 10,000 bits) are being used, resulting in significant energy consumption. This work demonstrates, for the first time, that different NVM technologies exhibit different error characteristics under voltage scaling. In contrast to conventional CMOS-based SRAM, we demonstrate that the error behavior is data-dependent and not captured by simple bit flips in emerging NVMs. We employ our cross-layer framework that starts from the underlying technology all the way up to the algorithm to develop the novel HDC training approach DropHD. DropHD considerably shrinks the size of hypervectors (e.g., from 10,000 bits down to merely 3000 bits), while maintaining a high inference accuracy. The use of aggressive voltage scaling reduces energy consumption by 1.6 x. DropHD further reduces it to up to 9.5 × while fully recovering the induced accuracy drop, i.e. without a tradeoff.

This study demonstrates the application of second-generation quantum sensors in one-dimensional tracking. Due to their compact size, these magnetic field-sensitive sensors are particularly advantageous for medical and industrial settings where conventional sensors may be too large or vulnerable to electromagnetic interference. The proposed sensor setup achieves an average resolution of 1.22 mV/mm for tracking within a 100 mm range. The study also explores the nature and impact of various noise sources and discusses potential future techniques for mitigating these interferences.
