Deep learning (DL) accelerators suffer from a new security problem, i.e., being vulnerable to physical access based attacks. An adversary can easily obtain the entire neural network (NN) model by physically snooping the memory bus that connects the accelerator chip with DRAM memory. Therefore, memory encryption becomes important for DL accelerators to improve their security. Nevertheless, we observe that traditional memory encryption techniques that have been efficiently used in CPU systems cause significant performance degradation when directly used in DL accelerators, due to the big bandwidth gap between the memory bus and the encryption engine. To address this problem, our paper proposes SEAL, a Secure and Efficient Accelerator scheme for deep Learning to enhance the performance of encrypted DL accelerators by improving the data access bandwidth. Specifically, SEAL leverages a criticality-aware smart encryption scheme that identifies partial data having no impact on the security of NN models and allows them to bypass the encryption engine, thus reducing the amount of data to be encrypted without affecting security. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that, compared with existing memory encryption techniques, SEAL achieves 1.34 -- 1.4× overall performance improvement.

In today's world, competition is not only restricted between the marketing aspects of two companies or big firms. The competition has expanded between the supply chain management perspectives of two firms. In order to sustain within the current competitive environment supply chain professionals of a firm are struggling hard to handle large-scale data, that is important to reach an integrated, efficient, effective as well as agile supply chain process within their business. As a result, explosive growth of data volume and amount of data within business, made it mandatory for the supply chain processionals to use an effective data analytic tool in order to manage these data. The main aim of this study is to identify use of various data analytic tools in order to manage large data of supply process and inventory management process with several advantages and disadvantages. As per the literature findings, it has been observed that use of data analytic tools within an organisation can be helpful to investigate new insights of the supply chain process, which can be able to detect different parts and elements of that process. A mixed method approach has been incorporated within this research paper by collecting primary and secondary both data collection process. Total 50 employees engaged with inventory and supply chain management of different firm are chosen to conduct a survey. Secondary data are collected from secondary sources. As per the findings, it can be stated that big data analytics plays a positive role in organization for managing large data. © 2022 IEEE.

As Industrie 4.0 (I4.0) technologies continue to advance, ensuring the reliability and robustness of emerging standards like Asset Administration Shells (AAS) becomes paramount. This paper introduces a comprehensive testing approach for reactive (a.k.a. Type 2) AAS implementations, addressing the challenges posed by their intricate and dynamic nature. Our methodology adopts a design-by-contract approach to formalize API behavior. We design the client as a test oracle, where code contracts extensively validate the AAS operations, their interactions and effects. The related test cases cover various operation chains, including superpaths, service specifications, and serialization modifiers. The objective of this approach is to enhance the reliability and effectiveness of testing in the evolving landscape of AAS Type 2 implementations.

Digital twins, the virtual representations of physical assets, processes or systems, are becoming increasingly important in cyber-physical systems. They are a foundational block of Industry 4.0, the movement to digitalize industrial *** Asset Administration Shell (AAS) has been established as the preferable model to capture interoperable digital twins in the context of Industry 4.0. As asset administration shells become more prevalent, so does the need for specialized software development kits (SDKs) to manage *** intertwined Industry 4.0 value chains are highly dependent on interoperability. The SDKs for AAS are often the direct interface between the components, and the malfunctioning of the SDKs leads to the breakage of the value chain. It is therefore important that we have the tools to determine how individual SDKs behave, and detect when they malfunction. In this work, we implement an approach to assessing the maturity of the SDKs for managing asset administration shells, and perform a thorough survey and evaluation of the existing SDKs.

In recent years, a plethora of deployment technologies evolved, many following a declarative approach to automate the delivery of software components. Even if such technologies share the same purpose, they differ in features and supported mechanisms. Thus, it is difficult to compare and select deployment automation technologies as well as to migrate from one technology to another. Hence, we present a systematic review of declarative deployment technologies and introduce the essential deployment metamodel (EDMM) by extracting the essential parts that are supported by all these technologies. Thereby, the EDMM enables a common understanding of declarative deployment models by facilitating the comparison, selection, and migration of technologies. Moreover, it provides a technology-independent baseline for further deployment automation research. © 2019, The Author(s).

This paper focuses on multi-objective optimization methods to address control strategies in microgrid systems. We introduce an unique problem formulation capable of processing real-time data and propose a new methodology that integrates multiple energy management constraints within a multi-objective optimization framework. Additionally, we propose a set of objective functions tailored for this optimization approach. The goal of this paper is to implement several multi-objective optimization algorithms within this strategy and use a dataset to evaluate them. This approach is applied to optimize microgrid design based on energy requirements, while conducting optimal sizing analysis accompanied by sensitivity analysis. An Energy Management System has been developed with technical functionalities that incorporate various constraints. Our findings demonstrate that the NSGA-II algorithm delivers highly promising results, achieving significant reductions in energy costs and total net present value, while maximizing energy production from sustainable sources.

The OASIS standard TOSCA provides a portable means for specifying multi-service applications and automating their deployment. Despite TOSCA is widely used in research, it is currently not supported by the production-ready deployment technologies daily used by practitioners, hence resulting in a gap between the state-of-the-art in research and the state-of-practice in industry. To help bridging this gap, we identified TOSCA Light, a subset of TOSCA enabling the transformation of compliant deployment models to the vast majority of deployment technology-specific models used by practitioners nowadays. In this paper, we demonstrate TOSCA Lightning by two contributions. We (i) present an integrated toolchain for specifying multi-service applications with TOSCA Light and transforming them into different production-ready deployment technologies. Additionally, we (ii) demonstrate the toolchain’s effectiveness based on a third-party application and Kubernetes. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Cloud storage services offer flexible, convenient solutions for business and personal users to store data. Traditionally, Third Party Auditors (TPAs) are introduced to ensure data integrity for public auditing. However, TPAs may also be untrusted for forging the auditing results or colluding with cloud storage servers to deceive users. In this paper, we propose a novel Blockchain-based Public Auditing Outsourcing system without TPAs (BPAO), in which the computationally expensive operations in public auditing are outsourced through blockchain to the cloud servers without risking users' privacy. Our security analysis indicates that BPAO achieves soundness and robustness. The experimental results show that BPAO is computationally efficient for cloud storage user. © 2021 IEEE.

We present an experimental study of gravity currents (GCs) with internal stratification in a semicircular channel in the inertial–buoyancy and Boussinesq regime. Forty tests were performed with a denser volume of fluid (brine advancing in a fresh water ambient fluid) in lock-release. The lock contains an internal stratification, with a layer of density ρL overlain by a layer of density ρU, where ρa U L and ρa is the density of the ambient fluid. The experiments cover both a full depth and a partial depth configuration. The measurements consist of marking the front position of the currents as a function of the time from release, t. Two lateral video-cameras were used to detect the flow profile. Also local instantaneous density and velocity profiles data were collected in a fixed section downstream of the gate, in order to give further details and a better description of the physical phenomenon. The integral data of front speed and current thickness were compared to a theoretical model [1] based on (i) a Boussinesq flow;(ii) large Reynolds number;(iii) current advancing in shallow water conditions;and (iv) negligible ambient fluid dynamics. The system of equations and boundary conditions allows the prediction of the motion of the GC, in particular the position and speed of the nose xN (t) and uN (t). The agreement of theory and experiments is fairly good, especially for the full depth configuration. The partial depth configuration experiments are less accurately reproduced by the theory, and require a correction coefficient of the Froude number at the front, mimicking dissipation and mixing. A thorough investigation was carried out for density profiles, average velocities within the current, and buoyancy fluxes of a turbulent diffusive nature, with a quadrant analysis distinguishing the origin and direction of the fluxes. © 2022, The Authors.
