Machine learning becomes one of the top fields in world of ICT (Information and communications technology). In the last few decades machine learning has taken a big boost in sports. Sport fans are using machine learning in sport betting and sport managers are using it for player selection, performance evaluation and even in outcome prediction. This paper gives basketball outcome prediction algorithms using k-nearest neighbours (k-nn). Few methods of preparing data calculated with different k and time period for k-nn algorithm will be presented and closely explained. This paper is dealing with redundant optoelectronic data transmission with special respect to laser channels. The concept of the generalized erasure channel (GEC) is used to determine the probability of undetected error for some binary symmetric and non-symmetric channels protected by appropriate codes. In detail, communication via different binary symmetric channels (BSCs), generalized erasure channels and symmetrized binary non symmetric channels (BNSCs) is investigated. Simple upper bounds are given, relating the new formulas to that one of the BSC Finally the results in connection with an inequality for proper codes are applied to multi wavelength optical transmission through channels generated by semiconductor lasers.

Fault attacks are a major threat for hardware-implemented security primitives, and algebraic techniques (equation-solving) are one of the most powerful building blocks for such attacks. We show that structural models obtained from a circuit implementation of the analyzed cipher can lead to more efficient attacks than the functional models used in literature. We also discuss possible synergies of the traditional functional and the proposed structural models and show first results on mixed models that combine structural and functional information. The overspecification provided by the mixed models creates an optimization potential through a partial mixed model with different filter rules for the combination of the two models.

The increasing interest and dissemination of PSSs and their potential to be created and used in a more sustainable way than todays “regular” products is widely discussed in research and practice. Even though companies start shifting their business model to PSSs, they do not incorporate tools to implement economic, environmental and social sustainability. Existing literature widely discusses benefits and risks of PSSs regarding sustainability, but often do not provide sufficient solutions for sustainability-related problems. Therefore, we provide a basis for creating such solutions by carrying out a systematic literature review, analyze 71 scientific publications, and derive identified and relevant factors. Six PSS-characteristics are determined and investigated to reach higher sustainability-levels through PSSs.

A prototype of the framework AutoFault, which automatically constructs fault-injection attacks for hardware realizations of ciphers, is presented. AutoFault can be used to quickly evaluate the resistance of security-critical hardware blocks to fault attacks and the adequacy of implemented countermeasures. The framework takes as inputs solely the circuit description of the cipher and the fault(s) and produces an algebraic formula that can be handed over to an external solver. In contrast to previous work, attacks constructed by AutoFault do not incorporate any cipher-specific cryptoanalytic derivations, making the framework accessible to users without cryptographic background. We report successful application of AutoFault in combination with a state-of-the-art SAT solver to LED-64 and to small-scale AES. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that a state-of-the-art cipher (LED-64) was broken by a fault attack with no prior manual cryptanalysis whatsoever.

Prediction of fracture in sandwich-structured composite joints using case-based reasoning approach

Repair and replacement of damaged composites are costly and time-consuming processes, therefore a prediction of fracture is highly beneficial, and may enhance structure reliability. In this study, a case-based reasoning (CBR) methodology as a problem-solving method of artificial intelligence is utilized to predict fracture occurrence in adhesively bonded sandwich joints. CBR is an intelligent technique for solving new problems by finding previous similar problems based on the experiences and cases which have similar solutions. In this paper, the experimental data of sandwich joints which experienced static and dynamic loadings under various environmental conditions are analyzed and stored on the case base. The case base of the implemented system is also enriched by numerical simulation results. The developed tool is appropriately designed with the optimized cases which are performed to reach high robustness in the fracture prediction. Furthermore, the case-base updates while using the system by learning from the gathered data as requested problems. Therefore, higher performance in future problems can be achieved. The proposed intelligence system has a general reliability to apply for different types of joints in sandwich-structured composites in order to predict failure load and type of failure. The quality of the obtained results of this research fully demonstrated the usefulness of the proposed intelligent system.

The elderly represent a valid group of users who can potentially benefit greatly from engaging with technology, such as healthcare systems or playing digital games. Yet, less attention has been given to the significance of senior citizens as technology users, as compared to the common younger population. In an effort to fill in the gap, this workshop aims to investigate the design of technology for senior citizens. To provide for more focused, thus more productive discussion, we will use elderly mobile phone games as a case in point here. The overarching objective is to understand what can help to make for better and more meaningful use of interactive applications and technology by the elderly, for instance, games on the mobile phone. © 2010 Copyright is held by the author/owner(s).

Digitization within the framework of Industry 4.0 is considered the biggest and fastest driver of change in history of manufacturing industry. While the size of a company is becoming less essential, the ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and new technologies is more important than ever. This trend particularly applies to the companies’ software landscapes, where individual sub-processes and services must be orchestrated, seamlessly integrated, and iteratively renewed according to the ever-increasing user requirements. However, inflexible, closed monolithic software applications as well as self-programmed stand-alone tools that are difficult to integrate are still predominant in the engineering domain. A complete reimplementation of existing, proprietary engineering tools and their integration into monolithic applications of large software providers is often not economically feasible, especially for small and medium-sized machinery and plant manufacturers. In this context, the so-called Process-Driven Approach (PDA) offers a sustainable and tool-neutral opportunity for process and tool orchestration, enabling an easy integration of individual software applications by consistent utilization of the separation of concerns principle. The PDA, originating from business informatics, is mainly based on the standardized and machine-executable visual modeling language Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). Using the semantic enhancements found in version 2.0, BPMN is not just used to model the business processes but also to model and execute the integration processes between different systems. After the PDA has already been successfully applied to large-scale projects in business informatics, it is now being transferred to the engineering domain. SysML is an industrial standard for the modeling of systems, providing a graphical way to model structure and behavior. Despite its flexibility, SysML lacks semantics to give language elements a precise meaning. Current implementations of the standard allow multiple interpretations of syntactical elements and can cause misunderstandings when porting a model among tools. Our work focuses on the definition of concrete semantics for SysML to enable correct interpretation of heterogeneous models. We also add semantic adaptation elements to guarantee that interactions among different formalisms are unambiguous. We demonstrate our approach by generating SystemC-AMS code automatically from SysML diagrams for a case study with two distinct formalisms. This kind of translation allows the validation of system behavior through simulation.
