Artificial intelligence (AI) is used more heavily in agricultural applications. Yet, the lack of wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) connections on agricultural fields makes AI cloud services unavailable. Consequently, AI models have to be processed directly on the edge. In this paper, we evaluate state-of-the-art detection algorithms for their use in agriculture, in particular plant detection. Thus, this paper presents the CornWeed data set, which has been recorded on farm machines, showing labelled maize crops and weeds for plant detection. The paper provides accuracies for the state-of-the-art detection algorithms on the CornWeed data set, as well as frames per second (FPS) metrics for the considered networks on multiple edge devices. Moreover, for the FPS analysis, the detection algorithms are converted to open neural network exchange (ONNX) and TensoRT engine files as they could be used as future standards for model exchange. © 2023 Polish Information Processing Society.

Spatial modulation (SM) is a low-complexity multiple-input/multiple-output transmission technique that combines index modulation and quadrature amplitude modulation for wireless communications. In this work, we consider the problem of link adaption for generalized spatial modulation (GSM) systems that use multiple active transmit antennas simultaneously. Link adaption algorithms require a real-time estimation of the link quality of the time-variant communication channels, e.g., by means of estimating the mutual information. However, determining the mutual information of SM is challenging because no closed-form expressions have been found so far. Recently, multilayer feedforward neural networks were applied to compute the achievable rate of an index modulation link. However, only a small SM system with two transmit and two receive antennas was considered. In this work, we consider a similar approach but investigate larger GSM systems with multiple active antennas. We analyze the portions of mutual information related to antenna selection and the IQ modulation processes, which depend on the GSM variant and the signal constellation. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

Herein,a two-node beam element enriched based on the Lagrange and Hermite interpolation function is proposed to solve the governing equation of a functionally graded porous(FGP)curved nanobeam on an elastic foundation in a hygro–thermo–magnetic *** material properties of curved nanobeams change continuously along the thickness via a power-law distribution,and the porosity distributions are described by an uneven porosity *** effects of magnetic fields,temperature,and moisture on the curved nanobeam are assumed to result in axial loads and not affect the mechanical properties of the *** equilibrium equations of the curved nanobeam are derived using Hamilton’s principle based on various beam theories,including the classical theory,first-order shear deformation theory,and higher-order shear deformation theory,and the nonlocal elasticity *** accuracy of the proposed method is verified by comparing the results obtained with those of previous reliable ***,the effects of different parameters on the free vibration behavior of the FGP curved nanobeams are investigated comprehensively.

One of the most common kinds of cancer is breast *** early detection of it may help lower its overall rates of *** this paper,we robustly propose a novel approach for detecting and classifying breast cancer regions in thermal *** proposed approach starts with data preprocessing the input images and segmenting the significant regions of *** addition,to properly train the machine learning models,data augmentation is applied to increase the number of segmented regions using various scaling *** the other hand,to extract the relevant features from the breast cancer cases,a set of deep neural networks(VGGNet,ResNet-50,AlexNet,and GoogLeNet)are *** resulting set of features is processed using the binary dipper throated algorithm to select the most effective features that can realize high classification *** selected features are used to train a neural network to finally classify the thermal images of breast *** achieve accurate classification,the parameters of the employed neural network are optimized using the continuous dipper throated optimization *** results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach in classifying the breast cancer cases when compared to other recent approaches in the ***,several experiments were conducted to compare the performance of the proposed approach with the other *** results of these experiments emphasized the superiority of the proposed approach.

Classical tasks of a librarian, such as screening and categorizing new documents based on their content, are increasingly replaced by search engines or through the use of cataloging software. A first overview of a corpus topical orientation can be achieved by combining graph-based search engines and clustering methods. Existing classical clustering methods, however, often require an a priori specification of the desired number of clusters to be output and do not consider term relationships in graphs, which is deficient from a practical point of view. Therefore, fully unsupervised graph-based clustering approaches at the term level offer new possibilities that mitigate these shortcomings. Within this work, a set of novel graph-based clustering algorithms have been developed. The hierarchical clustering algorithm (HCA) forms term hierarchies by iteratively isolating nodes of a given co-occurrence graph based on the evaluation of the edge weight between the nodes. Based on the co-occurrence graph inherent relationships of terms, a new graph is built agglomerative forming individual term clusters of related terms. The feasibility of the outlined methods for text analysis is shown. © 2022 ACM.

This paper presents an experimental study that compares the performance of four selected metaheuristic algorithms for optimizing a time delay system model. Time delay system models are complex and challenging to optimize due to their inherent characteristics, such as non-linearity, multi-modality, and constraints. The study includes an explanation of the choice and core functionality of the selected algorithms, which are both baseline and state-of-the-art variants of self-organizing migrating algorithm (SOMA), state-of-the-art variant from the Success-History-based Adaptive Differential Evolution family of algorithms, with emphasis on diverse search (DISH algorithm), and Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy (CMA-ES) algorithm. The hyperparameters of the metaheuristic algorithms were set using the iRace automatic algorithm configuration framework. The paper emphasizes the importance of metaheuristic algorithms in control engineering for time-delay systems to develop more effective and efficient control strategies and precise model identifications. The experimental results highlight the effectiveness of the state-of-the-art algorithms with specific adaptive mechanisms like population organization process, diverse search and adaptation mechanisms ensuring a gradual transition from exploration to exploitation. Overall, this study contributes to understanding the challenges and advantages of using metaheuristic algorithms in control engineering for time delay systems. The results provide valuable insights into the performance of modern metaheuristic algorithms and can help guide the selection of appropriate adaptive mechanisms of metaheuristics. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a Secure Energy Management System (SEMS) with anomaly detection and Q-Learning decision modules for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV). The anomaly detection module is a multi-task learning network to simultaneously classify suppliers and predict the real supply quantities. The Q-learning decision module can then determine operating reserve and subsidies to manage the energy grid. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed anomaly detection module has an excellent performance in classifying malicious suppliers, excels at shaping supply distribution, and outperforms the existing benchmark systems. © 2022 IEEE.

Most advanced control methods require a sufficiently accurate model of the system to be controlled. These models are becoming increasingly difficult to generate due to the increasing complexity of the underlying systems. To address this problem, data-driven models can be used. These kind of models are trained based on data of the dynamic system. They can be used for controller design and also be applied directly to control the system. In this work, a stochastic model predictive controller (SMPC) with a Gaussian process model (GP) is utilized. The main advantage of GPs is the construction of a dynamic system model with the possibility of determining the uncertainty of its own prediction. In this contribution, three different utilizations of prediction uncertainty in SMPC are compared. Additionally, two different implementations of dynamic GPs, nonlinear autoregressive exogenous GPs (GP-NARX) and a state-space model based on GPs (GP-SSM), are considered. All six test cases are compared based on an evaluation criterion that describes the resulting control performance. A simulated inverted pendulum, a benchmark for nonlinear and unstable systems, is used as test system. In this work, the combinations of different dynamic GPs and the application of their uncertainty prediction in SMPC are evaluated and compared.
