We present a general framework for modeling power magnetic materials characteristics using deep neural networks. Magnetic materials represented by multidimensional characteristics (that mimic measurements) are used to train the neural autoencoder model in an unsupervised manner. The encoder is trying to predict the material parameters of a theoretical model, which is then used in a decoder part. The decoder, using the predicted parameters, reconstructs the input characteristics. The neural model is trained to capture a synthetically generated set of characteristics that can cover a broad range of material behaviors, leading to a model that can generalize on the underlying physics rather than just optimize the model parameters for a single measurement. After setting up the model, we prove its usefulness in the complex problem of modeling magnetic materials in the frequency and current (out-of-linear range) domains simultaneously, for which we use measured characteristics obtained for frequency up to 10 MHz and H-field up to saturation. Modular smart furniture system for independent living of older adults- user experience study

Background: The ageing of the population represents a significant challenge, however, it is also a huge potential driver for innovation. Technology development capabilities are rapidly increasing, which enables new, innovative solutions when considering the ageing population. Objective: To promote the successful development and implementation of new technologies (in this case, smart furniture), positive user feedback and experiences are required. Methods: In this study, several modular smart furniture prototypes were developed, offering a potential solution to several challenges associated with ageing. The aim was to investigate which features positively affect user experience and consequently form the basis for smart, ageing-friendly furniture design guidelines. The smart furniture systems consisted of five prototypes: Fall Detection system with assistive Mobile Robot, ReAblechair, Magic Mirror, Smart Gaming chair, and 3D printed handles. These prototypes were presented to seniors in a home-like environment, after which participants completed a questionnaire and were interviewed. The themes used in the semi-structured interview followed the structure of Jesse Garrett's user experience framework. Results: The most essential feature was found to be modularity, or the ability to customize solutions according to the end user's capabilities and needs. In addition, results highlight that smart furniture should be aesthetically pleasing whilst still serving its primary purpose (i.e. as an item of furniture). Administrative components of the software should be removed from the end user's User Interface (UI) and integrated in a separate UI, to simplify the end user's interaction with the technology. Installation and customization services, as well as value-adding services (i.e. monitoring) were seen to offer potential. Conclusions: In general, the user experiences were positive. In this work, a neuro-fuzzy hybrid deep learning model is presented for finding human-readable relationships between input features with the help of nilpotent fuzzy logic and multi-criteria decision making (MCDM). In the neural network a parameterized, differentiable activation function is used, where the parameter is determined by gradient descent. The goal is to find the optimal regularization value by applying the deep learning model to classification problems from the UCI Machine Learning Repository.

The micro RNA-messenger RNA dynamics is a topic of constant interest. In this paper we analyze the stability of equilibria of a mathematical model associated to this interaction. After proving the existence and uniqueness of an equilibrium point in the positive ortant, we provide numerically tractable conditions (by using Linear Matrix Inequalities techniques) to check the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point. An illustrative numerical example is closing the paper along with some conclusions. © 2019, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we describe the experience of setting up a computational infrastructure based on BOINC middleware and running a volunteer computing project on its basis. We characterize the first series of computational experiments and review the project’s development in its first six months. The gathered experience shows that BOINC-based Desktop Grids allow to efficiently aid drug discovery at its early stages. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper presents a novel approach for head tracking in augmented reality (AR) flight simulators using an adaptive fusion of Kalman and particle filters. This fusion dynamically balances the strengths of both algorithms, leveraging Kalman filters for computational efficiency and particle filters for handling non-linearities based on real-time factors such as sensor noise and head movement patterns. Our method demonstrates superior tracking precision and reduced latency, making it particularly effective for immersive pilot training in AR-based flight simulations. While focused on flight simulation, our approach holds high potential for broader applications in other AR and virtual reality (VR) environments where precise, real-time head tracking is crucial. These results provide actionable design guidance for developers optimizing tracking systems in environments that require fast response times and high accuracy. Future extensions of this research could explore the generalization of our approach across diverse AR applications, including human-computer interaction (HCI), medical simulations, and gaming. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

This paper presents a design of an ultra-wideband, slotted, elliptical monopole antenna for breast cancer imaging. The antenna has a compact size of 9 mm × 7 mm to cover the frequency range from 16 to 24 GHz. Its operation is optimized to direct contact with the patient breast's skin without any coupling medium. On top of that, the antenna also features as an electrode for the electrical impedance tomography (EIT) applications. Experimental results on a female volunteer's breast verify the excellent microwave performance of the antenna. In addition, the results also indicate the reliability of the breast tissues models, which were used in the simulation. Finally, a simple EIT measurement setup also demonstrates the multi- functional detection capabilities from the antenna element.

Hard hat wearing detection based on head keypoint localization

In recent years, a lot of attention is paid to deep learning methods in the context of vision-based construction site safety systems. However, still there is no reliable way to establish the relationship between supervised construction workers and their basic personal protective equipment, like hard hats. To address this problem, a novel deep learning method combining object detection, keypoint localization, and simple rule-based reasoning is proposed in this article. In tests, this solution surpassed the previous methods based on the relative bounding box position of different instances, as well as direct detection of hard hat wearers and non-wearers. Achieving MS COCO style overall AP of 67.5% compared to 66.4% and 66.3% achieved by the above-mentioned approaches, with class specific AP for hard hat non-wearers of 64.1% compared to 63.0% and 60.3%. The results show that the conjunction of deep learning methods with humanly-interpretable rule-based algorithm is better suited for detection of hard hat non-wearers. In this paper we obtain a numerically tractable test (sufficient condition) for the exponential stability of the unique positive equilibrium point of an ODE system. The result (Theorem 3.1) is based on Lyapunov theory and Linear Ma-trix Inequalities techniques.
