The escalating global incidence of malware presents critical cybersecurity threats to manufacturing, automation, and industrial process control systems. Given the fast-developing web applications and IoT devices in use by industry operations, securing a transparent and effective malware detection mechanism has become imperative to operational resilience and data integrity. Classical methods of malware detection are conventionally opaque “black boxes” with limited transparency, thus eroding trust and hindering deployment in security-sensitive contexts. In this respect, this research proposes MAL-XSEL—a malware detection framework using an explainable stacking ensemble learning approach for performing high-accuracy classification and interpretable decision-making. MAL-XSEL explicates the model predictions through Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) and local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME), which enable security analysts to validate how the detection logic works and prioritize the features contributing to the most critical threats. Evaluated on two benchmark datasets, MAL-XSEL outperformed conventional machine learning models, achieving top accuracies of 99.62% (ClaMP dataset) and 99.16% (MalwareDataSet). Notably, it surpassed state-of-the-art algorithms such as LightGBM (99.52%), random forest (99.33%), and decision trees (98.89%) across both datasets while maintaining computational efficiency. A unique interaction of ensemble learning and XAI is employed for detection, not only with improved accuracy but also with interpretable insight into the behavior of malware, thereby allowing trust to be substantiated in an automated system. By closing the divide between performance and interpretability, MAL-XSEL enables cybersecurity practitioners to deploy transparent and auditable defenses against an ever-growing resource of threats. —The mathematical model for many problems is arising in different industries of natural science, basically formulated using differential, integral and integro-differential equations. The investigation of these equations is conducted with the help of numerical integration theory. It is commonly known that a class of problems can be solved by applying numerical integration. The construction of the quadrature formula has a direct relation with the computation of definite integrals. The theory of definite integrals is used in geometry, physics, mechanics and in other related subjects of science. In this work, the existence and uniqueness of the solution of above-mentioned equations are investigated. By this way, the domain has been defined in which the solution of these problems is equivalent. All proposed four problems can be solved using one and the same methods. This article aims to calculate the net income achieved by a prosumer for an existing On-Grid system of photovoltaic panels consisting of a set of 12 poly crystalline panels with a nominal power of 250 Wand 60 cells and an On-Grid inverter (StecaGrid model) with a maximum power of 3000 W. The prosumer is located in southern Romania, Ilfov County. Modeling of the photovoltaic panel in Matlab / SIMULINK was performed using a mathematical model, and it was compared with a real data set. Next, an analysis was made of the energy produced by the photovoltaic system, and the energy consumed by the prosumer, the excess energy being introduced in the national energy system. We have achieved a net income saving for March, so the analyzed photovoltaic system has energy efficiency that can significantly reduce electricity costs over time. Thus, using the Matlab / Simulink model, photovoltaic systems can be designed to satisfy the needs of prosumers.

The utilization of organic scintillator strips in the construction of J-PET represents a remarkable departure from the conventional PET methodology that relies on inorganic crystal scintillators [1, 2]. This innovative approach not only holds the potential for cost-effectiveness but also facilitates the development of stand-alone detection modules, making PET imaging accessible to non-specialized laboratories [3]. The J-PET scanner, recently commissioned for research imaging on clinical patients at the University Hospital in Krakow, has undergone rigorous evaluation. This work is based on the study in which a single-bed position scan was performed on patients injected with [$\left.{ }^{68} \mathrm{Ga}\right]$-DOTA-TATE. This study evaluates the performance of human imaging in J-PET with particular attention to incorporating various corrections, including attenuation, normalization, random and scatter corrections. Attenuation correction was applied using the kVp-dependent transformation [4]. Normalization corrections were calculated using the component-based approach [5]. Random coincidences were corrected using the delayed time window method [6]. A Monte Carlo-based scatter correction (SC) method was implemented using SimSET to simulate the scatter contribution and calculate the SC factors in between each OSEM iteration of the image reconstruction [7]. In this contribution, the reconstructed images of patients scanned with the JPET, the first scanner based on plastic scintillators, and supplemented with the necessary corrections, will be presented.

Disease prediction with the help of computers has achieved significant progress in this area;however, it still requires a more accurate identification of each data feature. In the past few years, ML-based medical diagnoses have become increasingly dependent on the datasets rather than the algorithms. Consequently, the more features in a dataset, the more difficult the model training process will be. A feature selection (FS) strategy can be used to eliminate unwanted features before the training in order to improve the model performance. Due to the great increase in the number of features, FS causes a complex combinatorial problem, which is NP-hard. The primary goal of this research is to create a novel framework for improving the Manta-ray Foraging Optimizer (MRFO) algorithm's performance. By the method of exploration–exploitation toggle adjustments, this process becomes the most efficient one by using the Expected State–action-reward-state–action (ESARSA) reinforcement learning strategy. The study employed 12 datasets as well as two classifiers (K-Nearest-Neighbor and Decision-Tree), both with and without hyperparameter adjustment. The study compared the performances of three feature selection methods: no feature selection, the original MRFO algorithm, and the proposed ESARSAMRFO-FS algorithm. The results revealed that ESARSA-MRFO-FS is the most effective of the three algorithms with classifiers and optimization scenarios. Besides, experiments comparing MRFO and ESARSA-MRFO performance on 44 benchmarks are presented in the article. In five functions, ESARSA-MRFO outperforms MRFO. These results confirm that the proposed method is efficient for feature selection in medical diagnosis because of its accuracy and low processing costs. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

The class of port-Hamiltonian systems incorporates many physical models, such as mechanical systems in the finite-dimensional case and wave and beam equations in the infinite-dimensional case. In this paper we study a subclass of linear first order port-Hamiltonian systems. In [3], it is shown that these systems are exactly observable when the energy is not dissipated internally and when sufficient observations are made at the boundary. In this article we study the observability properties for these systems when internal dissipation of energy is possible. We cannot show the exact observability, but we do show that the Hautus test is satisfied. In general, the Hautus test is weaker than exact observability, but stronger than approximate observability. The European eSafety initiative aims to improve the safety and efficiency of road transport. The main element of eSafety is the pan-European eCall project—an in-vehicle system which idea is to inform about road collisions or serious accidents. As estimated by the European Commission, the implemented system will reduce services’ response time by 40%. This will save 2,500 people a year. In 2015, the European Parliament adopted the legislation that from the end of March 2018 all new cars from the EU should be equipped with the eCall system. The limitation of this idea is that only small part of cars driven in UE are brand new (about 3.7% brand new cars were sold in 2015). This paper presents the first concept of an onboard eCall device which can be installed at the owners’ request in used vehicles. The proposed system will be able to detect a road accident, indicate the number of vehicle’s occupants, report their vital functions, and send that information to dedicated emergency services via duplex communication channel. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.
