This study aims to isolate the capsaicin compound from cayenne by reflux method using methanol solvent. Yield oleoresin obtained as much as 51,71% of 30 grams of dried cayenne at a ratio of 1:16 with extraction time for 7 hours. Oleoresin has a blackish brown color, thick and has a spicy smell. The obtained oleoresin was analyzed by Spectrophotometer FTIR show that chain – OH, -NH, CH2, -CH3, C=C, C=O and O-CH3.

This research aims to determine the optimum conditions with variations in temperature and concentration of Lactic Acid Bacteria (BAL) starter in fermentation in the process of making mocaf flour. Fermentation of cassava is carried out using a fermenter equipped with a thermo controller and tubular heater. Heater is used to increase the temperature connected to the temperature controller (thermo controller) so that the fermentation process runs in optimum conditions and get good quality of mocaf flour according to SNI 7622-2011 standards. The fermentation process was carried out anaerobically with and varying the temperature of 30 and 33°C and the concentration of the lactic acid bacteria starter were 0.06%, 0.12%, 0.18%, 0.24% and 0.3% with fermentation time during 24 hours. The results showed optimum conditions of cassava fermentation at a temperature of 33°C and lactic acid bacteria starter concentration of 0.3% obtained mocaf flour protein levels of 12.87%.

Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) poses significant environmental challenges to water resource management. This review explores the potential of waste materials in developing nanocomposites for AMD treatment. The study highlights the benefits of using agricultural residues, industrial byproducts, and municipal solid waste as components in nanocomposites. These waste-based nanocomposites offer cost-effectiveness, resource conservation, and transformation of waste into valuable assets. The mechanisms of pollutant removal, recent trends, and advancements in nanocomposites for AMD treatment are discussed. Unlike previous studies, this work provides a pioneering comprehensive assessment of waste-derived nanocomposites, systematically synthesizing state-of-the-art advancements while critically evaluating their practical application and ecological impact. Recommendations for optimizing nanocomposites include material selection, property tailoring, and field implementation. Future research directions are proposed, such as advanced characterization techniques, novel waste material exploration, and ecological impact evaluation. Harnessing waste material potential can promote sustainable water and waste management, restoring AMD-affected environments and protecting water resources.

Red Kupang (Musculista senhausia) is one of the fisheries resources included in the bivalve class. Red Kupang is commonly found in the waters of Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, and the coast of the Madura Strait. The nutritional components contained in red mussel meat include 75.48% water content, 1.93% ash content, 15.02% protein, 6.17% fat, and 1.41% carbohydrate. The nutrient content of red mussels that can be utilized is protein. So that red mussels can be used as an alternative source of animal protein. For this reason, this research is carried out namely isolation of proteins against red mussels. Isolation can be carried out by means of extraction, where the pH and time of extraction affect this process. The research began with washing and drying the red mussels at 40oC until a constant weight (± 6 hours) was obtained. The second stage is making red mussel flour with 60 mesh particle size. The third step is the isolation of red mussel protein by extraction process that is 50 grams of red mussel flour homogenized in aquadest with a ratio of 1:10 w / v, then extraction is carried out at an alkaline pH (pH: 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13). at a temperature of 40 oC using a hot plate stirrer for 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 minutes. The results obtained the best conditions at pH 11 and 50 minutes extraction time with a protein content of 72.70%.

The goal of this research to identifity inulin compounds in Aceh gadung tuber (Dioscorea Hispida) by using hydrolysis method with variations hydrolysis time 30 minutes; 60 minutes; 90 minutes and hydrolysis temperature 70°C; 80°C. Inulin is a group of carbohydrate that are prebiotic. Inulin is usually use a substitute for fat and sugar in low calorie food product. The hydrolysis method used can convert the carbohydrate from tuber starch to glucose and also convert it to simple sugar that is fructan. The analysis in this research is detected inulin function group by analysis Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and yield of crystal inulin. Isolation inulin used material and solvent (1:5) can obtained the best treatment of isolation inulin is operating condition at hydrolysis temperature 70°C by hydrolysis time 60 minutes, in this condition the yield of crystal inulin is 42%.

A study was done on treatment of raw water sources for drinking water using chitosan/Mg-Al LDH (CS/Mg/Al–LDH) composites by adsorption process. An analysis on the adsorbent characterizations of FTIR, SEM and XRF showed that the CS/Mg/Al–LDH had many different functional groups and a high specific surface area for adsorption processes. The CS/Mg/Al–LDH showed high adsorption uptake capacity and selectivity for iron (Fe), turbidity, and colour in the raw water sources for drinking water in Municipal Waterworks in Banjarmasin. Therefore, the CS/Mg/Al–LDH composites have the potential to be used as an adsorbent in water and wastewater treatment.
