Molecular docking bioactive compound from Strobilanthes crispus to decrease cholesterol levels

Hypercholesterolemia is a disease caused by an increase in the concentration of cholesterol in the blood. One non-pharmacological treatment using herbal plants such as Strobilanthes crispus. This plant has flavonoid and phytosterols content that has been proven to reduce cholesterol levels in the blood. In this study, molecular docking was conducted to screen for the bioactive compounds that correspond to the interaction of the protein. Quercetin and β-sitosterol compounds are then docked using Autoodock Tools-1.5.6 to see the results of their affinity score for the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme. The affinity results obtained from quercetin, β-sitosterol and reference compounds (simvastatin) are -7.8 kcal/mol; -7.1 kcal/mol; and -6.1 kcal/mol. This shows that quercetin has the best affinity score for the inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase enzyme when compared with β-sitosterol and reference compounds.

Disaster are becoming more frequent around the world and more intense in urban areas. Central Java is the province with the largest number of disasters in Indonesia. Disaster create amount of disaster waste and sometime very huge, many times comparing to daily municipal waste generation. Government and local citizen sometimes are unable to handling disaster waste. Since effective implementation of disaster waste management (DWM) will lead quick and better recovery of living and avoid more environmental risk, high level regional government such as provincial should help. To make effective support, it is important that provincial government develop a model to monitor disaster waste generation in each regency and cities. This study aims to develop basic framework of regional model for disaster waste estimation and distribution in provincial level. This study used Central Java Province as a case study. To estimate disaster waste in Central Java, this study developed an index system as a basic model. It is about basic comparison of disaster waste generation in all central java regencies or cities. Disaster waste is associated with total disaster events. This study utilized GIS tools to express model and system. This study developed of regional model disaster waste estimation in Central Java, divided by 3 sub decades. study result shown that in first decade 1990-1999 the highest index of disaster waste estimation is Brebes Regency. Second decade 2000-2009 the highest index of disaster waste estimation is Semarang Regency and the third decade 2010-2018 the highest index of disaster waste estimation in Cilacap Regency. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The herbal, tofu and fertilizer industries contribute considerable waste. Unprocessed waste disposal can cause environmental pollution. The waste contains chemical oxygen demands (COD), and organic substances can be degraded by Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) degradation method. The process of AOPs in this study used a combination of UV rays and ozone to produce hydroxyl radicals. This study was aimed to investigate the effect of UV, Ozone and UV-Ozone methods on COD degradation of herbal waste, tofu, and fertilizer. The result showed that the optimum degradation was obtained at experiment by using UV/ozone method. The COD degradation at tofu wastewater was from 1308 to 942 ppm, herbal wastewater was from 1011 to 414 ppm, and fertilizer wastewater was from 510 to 89 ppm by the use of 4 hours UV-Ozone method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Luk Ulo Melange Complex is a Pre-Tertiary rock formation consisting of various lithological background and complicated geological structure. Located in Northern Kebumen Regency, this rock is originally interpreted as products of tectonic process caused by paleo-subduction between Indian Oceanic Plate beneath Eurasian Plate in Cretaceous age. According to previous study on geological surface investigation shows that the melange complex is tectonically overlain by Tertiary sedimentary formation. On the contrary, geophysical study of the subsurface condition of the area is still under discussion due to limited of measured data. In order to obtain detailed subsurface image, gravity profiling was measured and interpreted across both Tertiary and pre-Tertiary rock. Frequency domain filter and designed moving average filter were used to separate residual and regional anomaly. The results denote gravity value of residual anomaly varying from -5 to +5 mGal, while regional anomaly is ranging from 150-180 mGal respectively. The preliminary interpretation was developed by taking into account the geological information and also the data that was collected during field campaign. Overall, high gravity anomaly is interpreted as diabase intrusion in the middle of research area. Meanwhile, low gravity anomaly indicated clay rich rock material related to matrix content of Luk-Ulo Melange Complex in the northern area. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

The framework of the peanut shelling machine functions as a supporting structure for the components of the peanut shelling machine, namely the top funnel, funnel retaining frame, the lid on the peeler shaft, pulley, sieve shaft, sieve, engine body. Frame material is mild steel equal leg angles size 45 x 45 x 5, yield strength is 3,002E + 04 psi and tensile strength is 5.004E + 04 psi. Skeletal strength analysis was carried out using the autodesk inventor professional 2015 software. The engine frame was given axial loading of 500 N, 600 N, 700 N, 800 N, 900 N, and 1000 N. The analysis results of the maximum stress occur at 1000 N loading, amount to 16.85 Mpy, and the maximum deformation occurs at 1000 N loading, amounting to 0.07727 mm. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. Ammonia and urea contained in fertilizer plant wastewater are pollutants to the environment. High concentration of ammonium and urea in wastewater can affects algae blooms in ecosystem which will generate various diseases in aquatic biota. It is known that there are many methods for degradation of ammonium and urea contained in fertilizer plant wastewater. One of potential method is ultraviolet-enhanced ozonation. Ozonation is oxidation with O3 that generates hydroxyl radicals which subsequently react with organic contaminants, while UV irradiation can break down O3 molecules and produce radical ions OH. The objectives of this study were to examine the effects of the utilization of the ultraviolet-enhanced ozonation method in degradation of various initial ammonium (100-300 ppm) and urea concentration (100-300 ppm) in inlet feed of ozonation-UV irradiation combination system. Some important variables such as contact time (0-120 minutes) and ozone feed rate of 0.2, 0.6, and 1.21 g/h were evaluated. Degradation process was carried out in two steps;ozonation and UV irradiation. Ozonation process was carried out in a contacting tank at constant feed flow rate of 1.5 l/min and at room temperature, while UV irradiation process was conducted in pipeline equipped with UV lamp at various contact time. The ultraviolet-enhanced ozonation could degraded ammonium and urea nitrogen up to 83.6% and 63.8%, respectively, at ozone feed rate 1,21 g/h, contacting time 60 and 120 min, initial feed concentration of ammonia (100 ppm) and urea (40 ppm). © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) is a polymer that can be used as an alternative to fossil-based plastics. PLA is the right solution because of its biodegradability, biocompatibility, mechanical strength, and processability. PLA synthesis process is more often carried out using the Ring-Opening Polymerization (ROP) pathway since it allows to produce a high molecular weight PLA. This study used Candida rugosa lipase as a green catalyst and DMA (Dimethylacetamide) as the solvent in the ROP of L-lactide. The observations were made by varying the catalyst ratio at 2, 5, and 10% w/w. The obtained PLA was characterized using H-NMR (H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) to estimate the average number molecular weight (Mn) and monomer conversion, and GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography) was also used to determine the number average and weight average molecular weight (Mn and Mw) of the PLA. It was found that the optimal catalyst ratio when the polymerization was performed at 80℃ for 3 days was 5%w/w.

The high level of erosion that occur in Musi river basin has improved a tremendous impact on sedimentation in downstream areas and has resulted in many infrastructure of water is disturbed, such as silting of irrigation channels, siltation of rivers which disrupt the flow of transport stream and increasing the risk of flooding, high sedimentation in the port basin, low quality of water and the rising costs of water treatment. This study utilizes techniques terrain models Digital (Digital Elevation Model/DEM) to analysis the spatial distribution of the potential for erosion and sources of sedimentation, as well as the direction of the flow of sediment into channels as well as its relationship with outlet in branching river as the supplies to be sediment to the river flow. The method used in this study using a spatial model analysis with the help of GIS in analysing and presenting the level of erosion and deposition by utilizing modelling slope and kinetic energy of rainfall to estimate the index erosivity and distribution pattern of sediment into the river channel. This research was conducted at the upper Lematang river sub basin with area 412,638 Ha, which are classified into 11 sub-chatments with the highest altitude is 3.159 m above sea level (Dempo Valley) and the lowest is 126 m above sea level (Talang tinggi Valley). Analytical results have been tested by taking a fine sediment sampling in each sub-watershed in the analysis and is taken along the channel network and compare the observed patterns with the results predicted by the model analysis of soil erosion. Overall, erosion by high intensity tends to occur in the relationship between the different vegetation coverage, the barren land and open land used for farms and land used for mining. Approximately 45-65.5% slope bad condition because the vegetation has been open, so it can be seen the amount of erosion in the area is 2.139 ton/ha/year, at the sloping is 1.8239 ton/ha/year. © 2019 Published under licence

The use of motorcycles increased rapidly. Data from Yogyakarta Central Bureau Statistics showed from 2015 to 2019 the number of motorized vehicles increased by 8% every year. Motor vehicle air pollution comes from exhaust gases resulting from combustion. Becak Motorcycles are widely used in Yogyakarta and are usually used motorcycles with a long life. Hydrocarbons (HC) or unburned fuel and carbon monoxide (CO), were air-fuel control. This research was studied to determine the ability of palm shell activated charcoal to reduce CO, HC and noise. The 14 meshes sample diameter placed inside the tube from 24 meshes of stainless steels were prepared. The weight of activated charcoal of 10 grams, 20 grams and 30 grams were tried to reduce the In the exhaust of a 1984 Suzuki motorcycle with plate number AB 4194 CK, an exhaust extension was installed, then palm activated carbon was placed inside and the emission gases were measured. Stages 898 was used to test the emission. The smallest size could adsorb the largest emissions and noise. The weight of activated charcoal of 10 grams, 20 grams and 30 grams 14 meshes could reduce CO, HC and noise emission were 0.294 % to 0.616 %, 454 ppm to 798 ppm, -o.63 dB to 1.6 dB, respectively. The weight of activated charcoal of 10 grams, 20 grams and 30 grams 14 meshes saturated time were 270 seconds, 173 seconds and 299 seconds, respectively.
