Feasible tar cleaning method of producer gas from palm kernel shell and mahogany fruit shell gasification

Palm kernel shells and mahogany fruit shells are technically possible to be converted into producer gas by means of air gasification process for several purposes, such as fuel gas, liquid fuels, or chemicals processes after specific treatments. Tar as the most significant impurity in the producer gas should be minimized to prevent blockage or chocking in the downstream flow of the system and to produce high purity gas. This research examines producer gas cleaning system which consists of scrubber, elutriator pipe, and shell-and-tube heat exchanger to produce low tar content producer gas in a fixed-bed gasifier using both feedstocks. This system is coupled with a fixed-bed gasifier using air as gasifying agent at feedstock capacity of 25 kg/h. It is found that gasification of palm kernel shell produced more tar at 92.67 ppm compared with mahogany fruit shell at 26.87 ppm. Furthermore, this system demonstrated high performance in reducing tar content in producer gas up to value of 8.67 ppm and 10.00 ppm for palm kernel shell and mahogany fruit shell gasification respectively. © 2022

Coal-fired power plants are major contributors to global CO2 emissions, prompting the need for strategies to mitigate their environmental impact. Ammonia co-firing has emerged as a promising solution for reducing CO2 emissions. This study employs computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize ammonia injection in a 1000 MW Ultra Super Critical Coal Fired Power Plant. Initially, four injection locations (equally divided, top burner, bottom burner, mid burner) were simulated at a 20% thermal energy co-firing ratio. The bottom burner injection showed the lowest NOx emissions. Building on these findings, the focus shifted to varying injection locations, particularly the bottom burner. Increased co-firing ratios led to reduced gross power and derating due to altered heat absorption and water content from ammonia combustion. Flue gas properties and composition were affected. NOx emissions showed a complex trend with initial reductions up to 20% due to ammonia's effect, but exceeding 20% co-firing led to dramatic NOx increases, surpassing limits at 60% co-firing. Burnout ratio linearly increased due to low unburned ammonia. However, coal burnout exhibited a different pattern, initially increasing, then declining after 40% co-firing. This was attributed to the char-NO reaction counteracting decreased coal volatilization caused by high ammonia levels. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The purpose of this research is to optimize the integration of digital marketing through the role of the millennial generation as an effort for MSMEs to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. To survive during this COVID-19 pandemic, the role of the millennial generation needs to be maximized by adopting a digital mindset because the presence of technology is very closely related to the millennial generation. all activities and mindsets that arise from the current millennial generation are closely related to technology to carry out management functions in MSMEs. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research because this research aims to make a systematic, factual, and accurate picture or painting of the facts, characteristics and relationships between phenomena regarding the development of the Creative Industry in the Handicraft Sector in Bengkulu City. To optimize the integration of digital marketing as an effort to survive the MSMEs during the Covid 19 Pandemic, MSME actors need to optimize the millennial generation by: Adopting a digital mindset (digital mindset), Using new models, Formulating new strategies, Implementing effective strategies, Generating sustainability. © 2021 IEEE.

A mid-level labor preparation having the qualification and competency appropriate with working world needs is a task from vocational secondary school (VSS). Now days, VSS become an attention by wide community, as a result of the existence of government policy which is trying to empowering vocational secondary education. The policy taken is by performing the revitalization of vocational school which has the aim to improve the quality of labor competitiveness. One of the programs is teacher quality improvement through various teacher training. However, relating to this case, it is suspected that the previous vocational school teacher training is less effective, so that it needs to be conducted the analysis about the teacher training implementation. Therefore, this article will be elaborated the ways needed to be conducted in improving the educational quality and vocational school teacher development training. The ways should be considered when it is planned and implemented the effective training program, such as: determining the needs, setting the goal, determining the content of learning, selecting the participants, determining the best schedule, selecting the appropriate facilities, selecting the proper instructor, selecting and preparing the audiovisual equipment, coordinating the program and evaluating the program. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The available prophylactic vaccines for human papillomavirus (HPV) in the market are only effective against specific types of HPV, rendering them ineffective for other types of HPV infections. The objective of this research is to investigate the stability of the recombinant protein constructed, namely chimeric L1/L2 protein from HPV type 52, with improved cross-neutralization ability. The 3D model, predicted using Alphafold, Robetta, I-Tasser, and refined with Galaxy Refinement, is validated using Ramachandran plot analysis. The stability is verified through molecular dynamics simulations, considering parameters such as RMSD, RMSF, Rg, and SASA, where stable conditions are observed. The chimeric L1/L2 protein from HPV type 52 is purified using affinity chromatography, and the His-tag is cleaved using SUMO protease to obtain pure chimeric protein with the size of ~ 55 kDa. Western blot analysis confirms binding to anti-L1 HPV type 52 polyclonal antibody. The obtained vaccine candidate can be utilized as an effective prophylactic vaccine against HPV. © 2024 Taylor & Francis.

The provision of carbon reducing agents for the direct reduction process of iron ore is carried out by immersing the iron ore in a tar solution and then proceeding with the pyrolysis/ carbonization process to obtain carbon deposits on the surface of the iron ore. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characterization and reduction behavior of Fe compounds resulting from impregnation and carbonization processes. In this study, iron ore is immersed in the pine flower tar with immersion time varying from 0-12 hours and a fixed ratio of tar / ore 1: 1. The soaking mixture is then carbonized in a vertical tube reactor covered by furnace with N2 gas flowed during the carbonization/pyrolysis process. The carbonization runs with a temperature variation of 450-550°C, for 1 hour, and a heating rate of 10°C/min. From SEM-EDX-Mapping result shows that the immersion method in tar followed by carbonization caused the carbon content in iron ore to increase by 86.68% in a 1: 1 tar/ore ratio, the impregnating time of 6 hours, and a pyrolysis temperature of 450°C. Effect of impregnation duration evidence that immersion times of 6 and 12 hours are sufficient to produce the magnetite phase after the carbonization process. Furthermore, the 6 hours’ duration provides a more optimal peak intensity. Meanwhile, the effect of temperature on the carbonization process shows that 450°C is the optimal temperature to obtain the magnetite phase in the carbonized ore. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Mining water is one of the main problems that has a great importance on mine productivity. In mining implementation, it is necessary to study the Mining Water (Hydrogeology) system to support a good mine design. The Mining Water drainage system is a method for making work sites in the mining area always dry. Prior to mining, hydrogeological analysis and rainwater management methods are carried out. Calculation of rainfall intensity using Gumbel Probability estimation and water capture area analysis obtained CA-1 Q = 915, 35, m3 / day CA-2 Q = 1149, CA-3 Q = 141116, 01CA-4 Q = 1407.89, the form of rainwater trapping channels in the form of trapezium and pump requirements in each catchment area of 1 (one) pump each. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The main road that connects the city of Sidoarjo to Surabaya is the intersection of Gedangan. By 2018 it has reached saturation by having a poor service level. More severe conditions will occur in the next 10-20 years. One of the government's efforts to overcome the problem of congestion, damage structure is the construction of flyover or other alternatives by widening the road. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of the traffic and to save vehicle operating costs before and after the construction of a flyover at the Gedangan intersection. The method for predicting Vehicle Operating Costs (BOK) is to use PCI method. This study predicts Vehicle Operating Costs (BOK) to determine cost savings. The scenario for predicting BOK is that 80% of the vehicle volume will pass the Fly Over, and 20% still use the existing road. The results showed that the cost savings of Vehicle Operational Costs (BOK) of existing roads compared to the use of flyover in 2019 was IDR 15 Billion. In 2039 the savings are IDR 77 Billion. Another discussion is that if the road is only widened without flyover, then the BOK cost savings in 2019 will be IDR 4 Billion and in 2039 it will be IDR 27 Billion. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Database lectures in the informatics engineering study program teach the life cycle of database system development, both in terms of concepts, utilization, administration to database application systems to be studied, practiced and understood by students. Database teaching in the informatics engineering department of a private university with very diverse student participants, the ability to master computer and information technology and skills requires teaching material, lecturing strategies, lecturer quality, and facilities must also be able to adjust toward challenges, concept development, and database technology. This database design research model used Hevner's information systems research framework, starting with reference research, database lecture analysis, rigor and research relevance. This research covered the steps of constructing artifacts in the form of constructs, models, methods, instantiation, and evaluation of artifacts. The use of the framework intended to support business strategies and processes in study programs and ensure the relevance of research. The benefits of this research will produce a database lecture model that can be used as a reference and lecture development in the informatics engineering study program. Reference to produce graduates with understanding and skills in database design, the use of Database Management System (DBMS), the ability in administration and professional capability in the database field. With establishment of fracture toughness test for advance ceramic according ISO/FDIS 23146:2008(E) with the sample test of Single-edge V-Notch Beam/SEVNB, then the researcher related this activity should understand and able to realize how to prepare the sample of advance ceramic in order the requirements of the standard are fulfilled. In contrary with metals and polymers that usually easy to cut as the standard size for testing, the advance ceramics are found much more difficult to prepare since it is very hard and brittles. More even, specifically for fracture toughness test, the level of difficulty is added since the sharp initial crack should be introduced in the edge of the sample. This article introduce method on preparation of advance ceramic for the purpose of fracture toughness test completed with method to introduce the initial sharp V-notch crack which is valid and possible to be measured its length and diameter of the tip that yield valid result of fracture toughness test. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing.
