In DFT calculation, a basis set is an important factor in determining the quality of results, especially for hyperfine interaction where changes in the local geometry and electronic structure can have a big impact. The use of extensive basis sets is always desirable and is expected to produce better results. However, for DNA molecules of more than 10 base-pairs, all-electron geometry optimization calculation using large basis sets such as 6-311++G(d,p) is prohibitively difficult even on a supercomputer. An alternative is to use smaller basis sets such as 6-31G which is used in this work. Thus, the objective of the work reported here is to determine whether 6-31G basis set is suitable to be used to study muon hyperfine interaction in short DNA molecule. It is found that in comparison with 6-311++G(d,p), 6-31G does not change the ranking of muon sites stability in isolated adenine and thymine. Furthermore, the 6-31G calculated muon HFCCs are slightly closer to the experimental values. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Motion planning for many unmanned aircraft is challenging because they have a larger configuration space than self-driving automobile development (Automated guided vehicles). Additionally, there are more significant uncertainties and disruptions in UAV environments, which makes inter automatic navigation more difficult. In this letter, I proposed a 2 recurrent neural networks (RL) oriented multi-UAV collision avoidance technique by modeling the unpredictability or noise in the environment. Our objective is to create a strategy that can construct a path without clashing with anything using local noisy data. But unlike supervised algorithms, RL lacks a steady training data set with floor labels, thus its collision avoidance strategies often show significant fluctuation and are difficult to reproduce. To solve these issues, we created a two-stage training method for RL-based collision avoidance. We first optimize the policy, and then we utilize a supervised learning methodology with a loss function that encourages the agents to adopt the well-known reciprocity obstacle detection mechanism. In the second step, we use transmission to fine-tune the policy. The complete computer simulation findings demonstrate that this approach can handle noisy local views with erratic sound levels and can design moment & accident paths under inadequate sensing. We review the impact of our policies in a variety of ways. © 2022 IEEE.

This research was carried out to produce fuel (Oil Liquid Poduct/OLP) from catalytic cracking of a mixture of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and fiber waste from palm oil. USY zeolite was previously ion-exchanged by three levels of Ni-metal concentration (1%, 2%, 3%) before used as catalyst in the cacking process. The catalytic cracking was carried out at rasio of sample to catalyst was 6:1, three levels of temperature (400°C, 425°C and 450°C) and three levels of reaction time (10, 20 and 30 minutes).The SEM images and EDX spectra of Ni-USY zeolite catalysts showed that all catalysts were in crystalline form of FAU framework. The highest of OLP percentage, 24.5%, was produced by catalytic cracking at 450°C for 10 minutes using Ni-USY prepared by ion-exchange using 2% concentration of Nickel Nitrate solution. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The influence of aging time variations on the fatigue life of aluminum alloy 2024-T351

Aluminum and its alloys are used to make a number of automotive components. It is due to aluminum’s light weight, anti-corrosiveness, formability, and affordable price. However, numerous procedures have been carried out to boost its strength due to mechanical characteristics, one of which is artificial aging. The effects of aging on the fatigue life of aluminum 2024-T351 will be examined in this study. The technique of treating the solution involved heating it to 500 oC for an hour and then immediately cooling it to room temperature. By reheating the aluminum alloy to 180 oC and maintaining heat there for a variety of 2, 4, and 6 hours, the fake aging process was continued. The goal was to obtain various precipitation types in anticipation of an increase in the material’s fatigue life. Then, a reversed bending test was carried out with loads of 1.0, 0.9, 0.7, 0.5, and 0.4 σu. The results of the study indicated that aging time had an influence on the fatigue life of aluminum alloy 2024-T351. Fatigue life lengthens with increasing aging time. The increase in fatigue life ranges from 13.3–63.3% compared to aluminum without heat treatment.

Lampung Province is one of the regions with the highest cocoa production, but many factors can interfere with cocoa production. One of them is the factor of pests and diseases of cocoa that cannot be identified and prevented beforehand. An expert system is a system that adopts expert knowledge or experts in a particular field. However, the diagnosis usually contains uncertainty in the form of answers and statements used. Certainty Factor (CF) algorithm, is one of the algorithms that is able to overcome uncertainty by providing a value for the level of trust from experts and users. However, because the CF value is based on the level of confidence in the symptoms experienced by the user, it creates a problem, namely the consistency of the user's answers. So, it is necessary to make improvements to the CF algorithm, to overcome the inconsistency of user answers through the use of Consistency Ratio (CR). Through the use of CR, inconsistencies are overcome through comparisons between the consistency index and the random index. Based on the results of the accuracy test, the proposed model is able to produce an accuracy rate of 86.67% in the diagnosis of pests and diseases on cocoa plants.

Biodegradable foam production process based on extracted cellulose of empty palm oil fruit bunch and chitosan for food packaging

The need for food packaging increases along with population and economic growth in Indonesia. Styrofoam is one of the food packaging that humans need because it is practical, lightweight, inexpensive, water-resistant, and has good heat and cold resistance. However, styrofoam negatively impacts health and the environment because styrofoam contains harmful chemicals such as styrene. Styrofoam destruction through burning can cause air pollution because the combustion results in dioxin gas which can interfere with human respiration. One of the solutions to reduce the negative impact of Styrofoam is the utilization of biomass as a raw ingredient used in the production of biodegradable foam. In 2019, palm oil production in Indonesia reached 48.42 million tons/year, 26% of which were empty palm oil fruit bunches (EFB). The cellulose content in EFB is high enough to be used for various applications. One of the applications of EFB is the raw material in producing biodegradable foam, an alternative to eco-friendly packaging to replace Styrofoam. Oil palm empty fruit bunches contain 84% -cellulose. This shows that the cellulose of EFB has excellent potential as one of the raw materials for producing biodegradable foam. In addition to EFB, the raw materials include starch, chitosan, magnesium stearate, polyvinyl alcohol, and distilled water. Production of biodegradable foam with a size of 19 cm x 13 cm x 0.3 cm requires 1.5-6 grams of cellulose or 11-44 grams of fresh EFB. Currently, biodegradable foam still has bad characteristics, so it is necessary to add additives to enhance the properties of biodegradable foam. This study examines the effects of chitosan on tensile strength, water absorption, biodegradability, density, and melting point of biodegradable foam. The production of biodegradable foam in this study used the thermopressing method at operating conditions of 120°C for 2.5 minutes. The most optimum results in this study obtained a tensile strength value of 3.79 MPa,

Sucrose ester (SEs) is an emulsifier that is widely used in many kinds of food products. Its application improves flavor, color, and texture. SEs was synthesized from palm kernel oil methyl ester (PKOME) and sucrose using Candida antarctica lipase enzyme as a biocatalyst. The enzymatic synthesis occurred at 30°C, with a Candida antarctica load of 50 mg, and a stirring speed of 250 rpm. The crude SEs was purified by vacuum filtration and then dried at 35-40°C for 6-8 h. This study aimed to obtain the optimal substrate conversion depending on 2 affecting factors: reaction time and sucrose concentration. Determination of the reaction time was carried out at 2-20 h, and sucrose concentration at 100-1,000 ***-1. The substrate conversion was determined using the refractive index (oBrix value) and then validated with a spectrophotometer-UV. The study found that an optimal substrate conversion of 87.8% had been achieved at a sucrose concentration of 400 ***-1, lasted for 12 h. The characteristics of optimal SEs were as follows: SEs purity was 91.82%, free sucrose was 1.75%, acid value was 2.93%, and free methanol was 0.11%. SEs was an o/w emulsifier with an HLB value of 12.35. The functional groups of SEs were O-H, C-H2, C-H, C=O, and C-O, which differed from substrates. In addition, applying SEs of 0.6% (w/v) in a coconut milk emulsion enriched with cooking oil maintains emulsion stability with a creaming index of 54.30% and a pH of 5.75 for 7 days of storage. © 2024, The Authors. The comparison of road network performance before and after the implementation of one-way system using prediction model

One-way traffic networks maybe force drivers to bypass blockages to reach their destinations, potentially increasing trip distances. However, it is beneficial for anticipating some traffic problems in most urban traffic conditions—only a few studies concerned the regression approach for predicting road network performance models. As a result, this research aims to use the regression method to forecast the performance model of the road network before and after one-way traffic system implementation. The derived model equations are compared to see which ones substantially impact the road network’s performance. This study relies on secondary data from performance assessments of 26 roads before and after the system during morning peak hours of 06:30–07:30 AM. The independent variables (X) are data from segment analysis used, i.e., Volume (X1), Speed (X2), and Volume (X4), whereas the dependent variable (Y) is Level of Service. By attempting the model prediction multivariate linear regression modeling before the system, Y = 5.647 – 4.376X1+0.009X2+0.0003X4 tend better than others. It provided a more significant impact on LOS than other models provided by R-value 0.951 is higher than the other models. The R-square value is 0.904, which means that 90.4% of LOS is influenced by DS, V, and Q factors. Further research is needed to conduct in the form of additional other factors that can affect LOS.

Pempek is a traditional ethnic food originated from Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Currently, there is not exist any profiles which could be used as a determining factor for quality, originality, and ethnicity of pempek. The objective of this research was to obtain the chemical profile of pempek as a determining factor of quality, originality and ethnicity. The samples were collected from the ten famous branded vendors in Palembang. The fish used in making pempek of the samples are snake head fish, Spanish mackerel, and the mix of snake head and Spanish mackerel. The type of pempek used in this experiment was steamed cook pempek lenjer (cylindrical) type. The analysis was performed at a KAN accredited laboratory. It was found that the energy content of pempek used in this experiment was in the range of 125 to 160 kkal/100 g sample and all the pempek used had a 0% of fat. All pempek used had 17 types of amino acid, and all of them had an essential amino acid. The significant finding was that the concentration of glutamic acid was 200% of the concentration of common concentration which indicated that all the vendors used artificial mono-sodium glutamate to improve the taste of pempek. It was concluded that the chemical profile found on this research could be used as database for creating a standard of identity of pempek. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Laboratory test on pullout capacity of winged box anchor for expansive soil

Expansive soil is one type of problematic soil, overly sensitive to changes in moisture content. This soil has the characteristics of large shrinkage expansion due to changes in pore volume which can cause lifting forces on existing construction can cause damage to the construction. This research aims to analyze the tensile capacity by using a winged box anchor against expansive soil expected to overcome the problem of swelling in expansive soil. The research was conducted experimentally at the Soil Mechanics Laboratory of Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. The materials used in this test were sand and expansive soil taken from Sambungmacan, Sragen, Central Java. The main test equipment used in this test is a steel cylindrical tube. A winged box anchor with a size of 7x7x30 cm is embedded in a steel cylindrical tube containing 75 cm of sand in the bottom layer and 25 cm of expansive soil in the top layer. Then the expansive soil is gradually moistened with water until it reaches a moisture content of 50% to determine its effect on the swelling value. The results of this modeling show that the winged box anchors are promising to reduce the swelling behavior of expansive soil.
