Membrane surface modification is one of the simplest ways to enhance the anti-fouling attribute of a polyethersulfone (PES)-based membrane. This paper compared two modification methods of PES membranes using dragon blood resin (DBR) additive via blending in the dope solution and coating a pristine PES membrane. The effect of modification methods was evaluated based on the properties and performances of the resulting membranes. Results show that the DBR-blended membrane exhibits higher water permease but lesser humic acid rejection than the DBR-coated membrane. Characteristics of contact angle, porosity, and pore size showed linear results on permease performance. The FTIR spectrum did not reveal any new groups but differed only on peak intensity. The DBR-coated membrane showed excellent anti-fouling properties as demonstrated by a flux recovery percentage of > 350%.

In order to fill the manufacture demand of electric substation equipment, materials with the characteristics of rust-resistant, lightweight and easy to find are required. Aluminum 5083 alloy is the best candidate to use because one of advantages is excellent thermal conductivity. Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is used because it has high welding efficiency, it does not need to change welding wire frequently, can be used for all types of materials and welding positions, and does not produce scale or slag. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the GMAW welding parameters on the mechanical properties of Al 5083 alloy. The specimen of Al 5083 alloy is cut into V Groove with 30° or 60° angle each side, for 6 pieces with dimension of 300 mm length and 150 mm width, before welding process. The welding process is done using the manipulator machine with constant speed and various currents followed by mechanical testing. The mechanical testing results obtained, there is no significant difference on the tensile strength results of all specimens with different welding parameters. However, the elongation percentage result obtained, the highest strain is about 17% of the Al 5083 alloy thin plate specimen with 225 A current. It can be concluded that the Al 5083 alloy material through the GMAW process with appropriate has met the requirement of mechanical properties to be applied for the electric substation equipment.

In this study, solid-state fermentation was carried out to produce single cell protein by local Aspergillus niger. Rice straw pulp produced from the pretreatment by liquid hot water at temperature 121 °C for 60 minutes of cooking time was used as carbon source. The effects of nitrogen sources, initial medium pH, C/N ratios of substrates and fermentation time on SCP production were evaluated in these experiments. The single cell protein was measured as crude protein content in the fermentation product by the Kjeldahl analysis method. The maximum crude protein of 18.9 % (w/w) contained in the fermentation product occurred at the fermentation condition with C/N ratio 30:1, the initial medium pH 4, temperature 30 °C, moisture content 75 % and relative humidity 95 %. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The combination of urbanization and global warming leads to urban overheating and compounds the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events due to climate ***,the risk of urban overheating can be mitigated by urban green-blue-grey infrastructure(GBGI),such as parks,wetlands,and engineered greening,which have the potential to effectively reduce summer air *** many reviews,the evidence bases on quantified GBGI cooling benefits remains partial and the practical recommendations for implementation are *** systematic literature review synthesizes the evidence base for heat mitigation and related co-benefits,identifies knowledge gaps,and proposes recommendations for their implementation to maximize their *** screening 27,486 papers,202 were reviewed,based on 51 GBGI types categorized under 10 main *** GBGI(green walls,parks,street trees)have been well researched for their urban cooling ***,several other GBGI have received negligible(zoological garden,golf course,estuary)or minimal(private garden,allotment)*** most efficient air cooling was observed in botanical gardens(5.0±3.5℃),wetlands(4.9±3.2℃),green walls(4.1±4.2℃),street trees(3.8±3.1℃),and vegetated balconies(3.8±2.7℃).Under changing climate conditions(2070–2100)with consideration of RCP8.5,there is a shift in climate subtypes,either within the same climate zone(e.g.,Dfa to Dfb and Cfb to Cfa)or across other climate zones(e.g.,Dfb[continental warm-summer humid]to BSk[dry,cold semi-arid]and Cwa[temperate]to Am[tropical]).These shifts may result in lower efficiency for the current GBGI in the *** the importance of multiple services,it is crucial to balance their functionality,cooling performance,and other related co-benefits when planning for the future *** global GBGI heat mitigation inventory can assist policymakers and urban planners in prioritizing effective interventions to reduce the risk of urban overheating,fi

Prospective area of Solok geothermal lies in step over transtensional between two segments, Suliti and Siulak, Sumatra faults. Geological structure in this prospect area shows structural pattern controlled by "oblique divergent strike-slip fault system" (releasing bend) as a proceed of embraced movement from Sumatra fault and establishes "dilation zone" between those two segments, forming negative flower structure in direction of NW-SE and N-S. The pattern of geological structure is predicted to control the availability of solok geothermal system which in this case related to presence of surface manifestation. Several studies have examined the connection between innovation, technology, and organizational culture in recent years. Management of technology and innovation is crucial to an organization's expansion and success. The development of an innovative organizational culture comes before technology and innovation management. This study's primary goal was to assess how organizational culture affects innovation in the Indian service sector. The study made use of a paradigm for understanding organisational culture created by Cameron and Quinn, which looks at culture as a collection of conflicting values from four angles. A descriptive survey research design was used in the investigation. Employees of service industries made up the study's population. More than twenty IT organizations participated in the survey, and 120 out of 180 respondents returned completed questionnaires. This indicated a response rate of 66%.The collected data was analyzed using inferential data analysis techniques and descriptive statistics. Tables and figures were created after analysis with IBM SPSS software. The results demonstrated that the strongest associations with innovation and technology were found in companies with flexible, collaborative, and employee-friendly cultures. Lastly, the study suggests areas for additional research, such as employing a new organizational culture model for the study or qualitative techniques for data collecting and analysis to reveal deeper cultural features.

This study presents an investigation of chemical and physical characterization, green process analysis, techno-economic considerations, and carbon emissions for synthesizing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) from plastic and can waste using microwave-assisted synthesis. The microwave-assisted synthesis proves to be more cost-effective, with a reduction in CO₂ emissions by up to 80%. The synthesized material (MIL-Mw-U) demonstrates excellent performance in methylene blue (MB) removal, achieving 98.41% removal, with 97.87% removal although the catalyst is used in the third cycle. The adsorption of methylene blue (MB) onto MIL-Mw-U achieved a maximum capacity of 295.26 mgg⁻¹ at pH 3 and decreased to 258.68 mgg⁻¹ at pH 11 due to OH⁻ competition. The Langmuir isotherm (R² = 0.9381) and pseudo-second-order kinetics (R² = 0.999) confirmed monolayer chemisorption as the dominant mechanism. This innovative approach supports circular economy principles by converting can and plastic bottle waste into functional material for dye removal, offering sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. © 2025 The Authors

Treating and reusing wastewater has become an essential aspect of water management worldwide. However, the increase in emerging pollutants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are presented in wastewater from various sources like industry, roads, and household waste, makes their removal difficult due to their low concentration, stability, and ability to combine with other organic substances. Therefore, treating a low load of wastewater is an attractive option. The study aimed to address membrane fouling in the submerged membrane bioreactor (SMBR) used for wastewater treatment. An aluminum electrocoagulation (EC) device was combined with SMBR as a pre-treatment to reduce fouling. The EC-SMBR process was compared with a conventional SMBR without EC, fed with real grey water. To prevent impeding biological growth, low voltage gradients were utilized in the EC deviceThe comparison was conducted over 60 days with constant transmembrane pressure and infinite solid retention time (SRT). In phase I, when the EC device was operated at a low voltage gradient (0.64 V/cm), no significant improvement in the pollutants removal was observed in terms of color, turbidity, and chemical oxygen demand (COD). Nevertheless, during phase II, a voltage gradient of 1.26 V/cm achieved up to 100%, 99.7%, 92%, 94.1%, and 96.5% removals in the EC-SMBR process in comparison with 95.1%, 95.4%, 85%, 91.7% and 74.2% removals in the SMBR process for turbidity, color, COD, ammonia nitrogen (NH3–N), total phosphorus (TP), respectively. SMBR showed better anionic surfactant (AS) removal than EC-SMBR. A voltage gradient of 0.64 V/cm in the EC unit significantly reduced fouling by 23.7%, while 1.26 V/cm showed inconsistent results. Accumulation of Al ions negatively affected membrane performance. Low voltage gradients in EC can control SMBR fouling if Al concentration is controlled. The effort of the community in early checkups for coronary heart disease is still very lacking. That is due to the less awareness and cost constraints so that heart disease is handled too late which causes the heart condition to get worse and even complications. A diagnosis of coronary heart risk based on facial texture has been done lately by researchers in China and produces pretty good output, but no similar study has been found in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to design several machine learning models and find out the performance of algorithms in diagnosing the risk of coronary heart disease with facial imagery. The research dataset was extracted using the Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix on specific areas of the face. The areas taken are right crow’s feet, right canthus, bridge nose, forehead, left canthus and left crow’s feet. The main focus of this study was on the performance of the Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree, and Neural Network models. Dataset processing procedures are divided into two, namely model making (training) and performance testing (testing). The findings showed that the best performing model was NN with an AUC score of 92.8%, followed by SVM with 85.6%, and the lowest was DT with 68% AUC. NN became the model with the best performance with 76.9% accuracy, 81.7% precision, 76.9% recall, and an F1 score of 77.5%.

The combined effect of hydrocolloid addition and microwave heating on the structural, physical and functional properties of cassava starch remains underexplored, despite individual studies on these modification methods. The dielectric properties, important for the microwave treatment of starch, have received little attention in recent studies. Cassava starch with and without addition of hydrocolloids (guar and xanthan gums) was modified by microwave heating for two different exposure times, and its structural, functional, and dielectric properties were studied. The dual modification enhanced the swelling power and oil holding capacity of the starch, reduced its gelatinization temperature, and did not alter its crystallinity. Notably, xanthan-modified starch microwaved for 6 min exhibited higher color variation (ΔE*) and increased granules agglomeration, while the microwave treatment alone roughened the surface of the starch granules. The mean diameters D[4,3] of starch increased with xanthan gum addition, microwave treatment (6 min), and their combination. The relative permittivity (ε’), loss factor (ε”) and penetration depth (D_p) were lower for samples modified by the combined method. Considering the type of hydrocolloid and the microwave exposure time, the combined modification significantly influenced the properties of starch, offering a promising approach to producing starch with enhanced functional properties. © 2024 KeAi Communications Co., Ltd
