Oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) is an abundant solid waste produced by oil palm industries to which the cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin content has potential for conversion into high value biochemical products. However, pretreatment must be applied to remove lignin thus making cellulose and hemicellulose available for further conversion. In this study, effect of three parameters of microwave assisted aqueous ammonia pretreatment such as microwave power (280;560;840 Watt), NH3 concentration (7.5;10;12.5 % w/v), and reaction time (3;6;9 minutes) on lignin removal (%) were evaluated by using response surface methodology with Box-Behnken design. OPEFB at different size ranging from 30 - 40 mesh was used as the raw material. Moreover, to evaluate the morphological structure, scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis was employed both on untreated and pretreated OPEFB. The quadratic model showed that microwave power of 837.8 Watt, NH3 concentration of 12.2% (w/v), and reaction time of 8.9 minutes resulted the highest lignin removal of 81.60%. SEM images showed that pretreated OPEFB encountered a heavy structural destruction. These results show that microwave assisted aqueous ammonia pretreatment can be a promising method to be applied to disrupt the compact lignocellulose structure of OPEFB and to remove its lignin content efficiently under very short period of time. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. Reinforced concrete slab are widely used in civil buildings, including as building floors, roof floors, bridge floors and dock floors. The load acting on the slab is generally calculated against gravitational loads. This study aims to analyse floor slab in One Residence Batam Center Apartment Construction Project. The moment method is used to predict the magnitude of frame and shrinkage values that refer to 2002 of SNI. Loading is carried out from dead loads and live loads with a two-way reinforcement system. Reinforcement is done using steel with a diameter of 10 mm. So that the minimum area is 313 mm square with a distance of 250 mm and is in the safe category. From the calculation results obtained the concrete elastic modulus obtained by 250 MPa with a reinforcement ratio of 0.0025. Checking the time dependency factor for dead loads is carried out within 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and more than 5 years. Long-term deflection due to frame and shrinkage is still in the safe category. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Instrument current transformers (CTs) are widely used in various types of electrical energy measurement. Eddy current losses, losses of hysteresis, a saturation of CT, and inevitable flux leaks could lead to errors including errors in the ratio and phase angle. Improving the accuracy of CT measurement could be achieved in many ways. In this study, a bisection calibration method to overcome the error by implementing correction factor integrated with the Arduino codes is investigated. The reliability of this system has been tested in two different situations, which are a constant and variable load experiments. The result shows that the readout of the developed instrument using 100 A/50mA CT could achieve the deviation value of less than 2%, confirming the excellence accuracy of energy meter. © 2019 IEEE.

Heterogeneous photocatalytic reaction has been generally applied for degradation of toxic *** of a compound using the same kind of catalyst that was synthesized differently are commonly found in ***,the reported degradation intermediates are normally *** issue is especially important for the degradation of toxic compounds because intermediates may be more toxic than their parent compounds and understanding the reason is necessary if appropriate catalysts are to be *** work systematically compares the photocatalytic degradation of diuron,a toxic recalcitrant herbicide,on two forms of zinc oxide(ZnO),i.e.,conventional particles with zinc-and oxygen-terminated polar surfaces as the dominating planes,and nanorods with mixed-terminated nonpolar *** and theoretical results indicate that both the rate of reaction and the degradation pathway depend on the adsorption configuration of diuron onto the *** molecules adsorb in different alignments on the two surfaces,contributing to the formation of different degradation *** the aliphatic and aromatic sides of diuron adsorb on the polar surfaces simultaneously,leading to an attack by hydroxyl radicals from both *** the other hand,on the mixed-terminated surface,only the aliphatic part adsorbs and is *** exposed surface is therefore the key factor controlling the degradation *** diuron degradation on ZnO,a catalyst confined tomixed-terminated surfaces,i.e.,ZnO nanorods,is more desirable,as it avoids the formation of intermediates with potent phytotoxicity and cytogenotoxicity.

Project is a set of interrelated activities and requires skills from different professions, and also project is involved the various of stakeholders in each phase of the Project Life Cycle. Implementation of Green Supply Chain in construction projects meant to bring the concept of eco-friendly in every process from the initiation phase, planning phase, the construction phase, and the operation and maintenance phase. It is necessary to identify indicators of green initiation and green design and how to explain the relationship between the role of initiation by the owner and the design process by a design consultant. This study aims to identify the indicators of green initiation and green design concept as part of Green Supply Chain. The method used for this study is a descriptive research that identifies and develop a framework for implementing green initiation and green design in construction industry that consists of concept, dimensions, elements, and indicators. GSCM in construction projects was determined by 9 indicators in the green initiation phase and 40 indicators in the green design phase. The success of green concept in construction project is very determined from these two phases as the beginning of the process, and the most important parties are the owners and design consultants. © 2019 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

The increasing demand for cement in the world of construction can have an extraordinary effect, especially in the production of cement which produces CO2. So we need an alternative material as a substitute and even replace the role of cement. Utilization of coal waste in the form of fly ash is in the spotlight to be maximized. Therefore this research was conducted as an alternative contribution to the solution using geopolymer concrete in terms of setting time and compressive strength with variations in the addition of cement. The method used is experimental in the laboratory which produces qualitative data for further numerical calculations. Tests focused on the setting time and compressive strength of concrete using 5 mix designs with cement variations ranging from 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% of the use of fly ash. The results of the setting time with the highest duration, namely 100% FA=1.5, 95 minutes initial setting time and 225 minutes final setting time, then decreased to the lowest duration, namely 60% FA: Pc 40%=1.5. The initial setting time is 15 minutes and the final setting time is 37 minutes. The highest concrete compressive strength results in the MD 4 mix design with 70% FA mixture: Pc 30%=1.5, which is 43.3 MPa. While the lowest compressive strength is the design mix MD 1 with a mixture of 100% FA=1.5 of 21.8 MPa.

Carbon dots materials (CDs) have the capability in the management of medical waste problem because of its advantage in the detection and degradation of pollutants. The synthesized CDs through various processes and raw materials have been applied to medical wastes, especially antibiotics such as tetracycline (TC), amoxicillin (AMX), para-Nitrophenol (p-NP), doxycycline (DC), ciprofloxacin (CIP), and oxytetracycline (OTC). These antibiotics are detected by utilizing changes in the luminescence property of CDs from the turn-off and turn-on mechanisms. Afterward, the degradation process is conducted using CDs as support materials agent semiconductors in the photosynthesis scheme. In general, CDs can be referred to as multifunction smart materials with the ability to detecting the presence of the antibiotics in simple, sensitive, and selective ways, and potency of medical pollutant removal clearly and effectively. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2020.

Transformer is one of the main components in distribution system of electrical power system towards the consumers, thereby any damage to the transformers will hinder the distribution of electricity towards the consumers, and in turn will make the SAIDI and SAIFI levels go up. High temperature in transformers can cause degradation in the insulation of transformers which in turn will cause failure in transformers. When the temperature in winding reaches or goes beyond the limit of 110°C, a degradation in insulation will start happening and the remaining life of transformers will decrease. Damage in transformers will cause disturbance in electrical power system and result in a major economic loss. Before damages occur, transformers need to be changed up until it is deemed to be no longer efficient, this can be done by replacing the transformer that is about to be damaged. To predict when a transformer is about to break, a calculation is made based on thermal modelling according to IEEE Std C57.91-1995 with its most prominent variable being Hot Spot Temperature (HST). HST is obtained by MATLAB programming using Annex G of IEEE Std. C57.91-1995. By obtaining HST, thus the remaining lifetime of transformers can be predicted. This study analysed the effect of loading, hot-spot temperature, and ambient temperature on the remaining lifetime of a transformer. The higher those three factors, the quicker the transformer will break, with loss of life percentage increasing exponentially. The highest loading, hot spot temperature, and ambient temperature given in this research gives percent loss of life of 0.0888332%, 0.0193394%, 0.020753% respectively. © 2019 IEEE.

Background: Bone destructions in the oral cavity are due to trauma, chronic infection, congenital malformations, or resection surgery, most often by using an autologous bone graft technique. The problem using this technique are limited donors and suppliers, high cost, host potential imune response becauce accepts foreign bone tissue also potential transmission diseases. Another solution in tissue engineering techniques is using the scaffold. Hidroxyapatite is one of the osteoconductive potentialy ceramic materials in scaffold fabrication. Objective: To prove that bovine teeth hydroxyapatite have characteristic as scaffold for bone tissue regeneration. Methods: HA was obtained by calcining bovine teeth at 1000°C for 3 hours, Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy (FTIR) test , Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) test and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) test. Results: Bovine teeth hydroxyapatite to showed of hydroxyl, phosphate and carbonate functional groups (FTIR test). Average Ca/P=1.97. Conclusion: Hydroxyapatite from bovine teeth has potency as scaffold through the chemistry and physical characteristics.

Indonesia is a country consisting of several islands some of which are still not covered by electricity. It is this source of PV that can be used to meet the needs of people who are not yet affordable with PLN electricity. Basically, PV includes the generation of new renewable energy types. This new form of energy comes from sunlight. Using semiconductor materials can convert energy from sunlight to electrical energy. Because in Indonesia this includes tropical climates located on the equator line, making Indonesia has a very high intensity of light. Several factors affect electrical energy, namely the extent of PV to be used, the total irradiance received by PV, the decrease in performance due to weather and cleanliness of the PV used such as snow and oiliness. In this study explained the Analysis of Irradian-based Grid Tie photovoltaic performance with Polycrystalline PV types. Taking irradian data using a Solar Power Meter, irradiance and temperature data at a certain time will use the Incremental Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method, DC-DC boost converter, inverter, voltage source converter (VSC) using algorithm and equipment controls connected to network. This research is simulated using Matlab with the Simulink program. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2019.
