Homemade micro-CT equipment has been successfully developed in the Physics Laboratory of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). The micro-CT was tested and could be used properly for non-destructive testing (NDT) using a phantom as the object. However, the application of the micro-CT for biological samples has not been investigated. Therefore, in this work, an investigation of the homemade micro-CT for biological samples was done. Tilapia fish was used an object. The fish was exposed to the X-ray using exposure factors of 45 kV, 32 mA, and 0.08 s. The object was rotated with rotation angle range of 0°-360° with increment of 1.40625° and the images at every rotation angle increment was recorded. The three-dimensional (3D) image was then reconstructed from the collection of the two-dimensional (2D) images obtained during rotation. The quality of the images was then analyzed using contrast to noise ratio method (CNR). The results showed that the highest CNR was obtained at the image taken with rotation angle of 315° which was 81.163. Therefore, it can be concluded that the homemade micro-CT equipment could be used for biological sample and can be further applied in other applications such as CT-scan.

This study aims to know the comparison design of electric motorcycle using hybrid systems (BLDC Motor) based on parameter testing, i.e., with and without load. The design of electric motorcycles is centered on determining a feasibility study comparing engine drive with electric drive. Electric vehicles are the answer to decreasing petroleum supplies and environmental concerns that are worsening every year due to oil-fueled cars’ exhaust emissions. The proportion of motor vehicle exhaust as an air pollution source is between 60 and 70 percent. The global decrease of fossil fuels is also a critical issue that has yet to be handled. A descriptive statistic methodology was employed in this work as an analytical tool. The results showed when the speed increases, the efficiency of the BLDC motor would increase; this is, of course, following the principle of Orsted’s law and Lorentz force. When compared to the no-load test, the efficiency by using the load will be greater because when the BLDC motor works with a load, it will require greater torque due to an increase in load so that it takes a large amount of power so that it will increase the efficiency of the BLDC motor. When compared in terms of using the battery, the time of using the battery with no load will be longer because it does not require too much current.

This paper presents an analysis of the Unified Power Quality Conditioner-Photovoltaic (UPQC-PV) system under sag and interruption voltage with variable irradiance. The PV is connected to a three-phase three-wire (3P3W) distribution system with 380 volts (L-L) and a frequency of 50 hertz, through UPQC-DC link. This system is used to maintain and supply sensitive loads. This paper shows that in the sag voltage and irradiance levels of 200 W/m 2 to 1200 W/m 2 , the 3P3W system uses UPQC-PV with proportional-integral (PI) still able to maintain the active load power above 3714 W. However, in the interruption voltage and same irradiance level, the load active power drops to between 2560 W and 2805 W. This research also shows that in the sag voltage and same irradiance levels, the 3P3W system uses UPQC-PV with PI still able to generate PV power between 500 W to 920 W. In the interruption voltage and same irradiance levels, the power that can be generated by PV increases between 1300 W to 1635 W. Otherwise, at 25 0 C and 1000 W/m 2 , the increase in PV power on interruption voltage has not been able to meet the load active power consumption, so it finally drops to 2650 W. This paper is simulated using Matlab/Simulink.

A ventilator is a breathing support device that serves as a therapeutic tool or treatment tool for patients with respiratory system failure caused by various health problems or diseases. On ventilators, there are crucial parameters that need to be monitored in advance, such as inspiration–expiration (I:E) ratio, respiration rate, tidal volume, peak inspiration pressure (PIP), positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), and oxygen concentration. To monitor those parameters, a ventilator tester is needed. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of a digital filter in the ventilator tester, COVENT-Tester, to identify the inflation phase in the ventilator parameters. The results show that the digital filter is not effective in measuring I:E ratio and respiration rate because of the delay in inspiration and expiration time. However, the digital filter is effective in measuring tidal volume, PIP, PEEP, and oxygen concentration.

Pulp and paper industrial waste or what is known as black liquor contains toxic contents, if not treated first, it can cause environmental pollution. So far, black liquor has only been used for the manufacture of biofuels and fuel for the paper industry, while 46% of lignin is the total solids in the black liquor component itself. This study aims to determine how much the percentage of decolorization of black liquor and producing lignin with bright colors using the coagulation method. The coagulant used in this study was Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) with various concentrations (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%) v / v. The results showed that the coagulation method proved effective in decolorizing lignin made from black liquor as raw material. The optimum condition to obtain decolorization was 90.44% using 2% PAC coagulant concentration and the total retention time of 24 hours. In addition, FTIR was used to qualitatively analyze the sludge produced during the coagulation process, and the results showed that there are several different groups in the lignin unit. The lignin obtained using the coagulation method produces a brighter brown color, is insoluble in water and odorless with a yield of 38.3%, a pH of 1.68, a purity of 54.8%, and water content and an ash content of 0.2% and 27.2%, respectively.
